Any suggestions on which transducer is best for contact testing on heavy forging of inconel(up to 9.5” thick) to over come scattering effect of grain structure? The signal to noise ratio is very high. It is very difficult to determine an indication verses noise. We are using 1MHz. Videoscan transducer at this time. Thank you for any input you may have
We used standard 2 Mhz Transducers for such challanges on Inconel and they worked fine - for example a standard B2S type probe or a 2L32-44.8x35 Phased Array probe. We also tried SAFT (ruclips.net/video/-dPkgov5E-M/видео.html) and it increased the sensitivity by about a factor of 5.
