They changed to USB-C due to EU regulations (so they changed it in all countries) and they are transitioning with all their products to USB-C, so soon everyone will have that charger 🙂

I've always hated apple for having different chargers I ended up being an android girly. And I found more people are android than apple. I'm sure you'll find someone with a usb c charger because all other phones have those chargers now and they're easy to buy in most shops 😘😘🩷
