Thank you for this. I've been looking for a video that shows the astrophotography that used to be visible in the line at 2:10 in this video. I vividly remember seeing those backlit photos as a kid, it actually inspired me to get into astrophotography myself. It's a shame they got rid of the real pictures and replaced it with fictional depictions, but now over 20 years later I finally have my own photography printed on an LED backlight on my own wall. I have this version of the ride to thank for the inspiration.
@@djentleman7i believe they're talking about the part at 9:57 with the flashing blue lights. That part was changed in 2009 when they did the refurbishment. The lights flash more slowly now and it makes a different noise.
Wow, there was so much going on in the pre and post show back then. It was an actual experience that I think they let go completely to the wayside in recent years.
@@TravelJack It was taken out in 2009 or 2010. As a kid I loved watching the glow in the dark rockets zoomin while you waited, built the excitement for sure
There was no star tunnel music in 1999? When was it added? It just sounds so wrong to hear the entrance music then go into the star tunnel and hear the third tunnel music.
You’re definitely thinking of the California version. Before it’s big 2003 refurb, there was a big red geosphere that the cars circled around. You could have also seen this from a big window in the queue. When the ride reopened in 2005, these were both removed.
Amazing majority of Overpriced Galactic Failure Cruiser is using recycled Space Mountain Props. The name of the Galactic Failure Starcruiser, Catastrophic Failure!
@@TravelJack Well if you could find any that would be amazing! I co-run a carousel of progress fan club and 90s/early 2000s footage of the ride is a gold mine!!
Let's take a Retro Road Trip back to Walt Disney World in 1999, where we'll take a trip through Space Mountain!

Imagine working in the station and having to hear the saftey spiel on repeat back then
I miss the old school noise when you enter the blue tunnel. Much better than what they have now.
It's the same music loop

I wish the SMTV loop was still around, that was funny stuff
I miss the open ceiling in the queue!!

@@bdlr77 I agree, no idea why they took it out. Always kept you entertained while waiting.
@@lornemyers They took it out to make it darker in the dome.

Thanks, glad you enjoy it!
I was there in 1999. Best Vacation ever

Why do I remember there being a big sun you went around I remember you could even see cars going around it through a window in the queue
Disneyland version maybe?

back when fast passes were on paper...
Back when fastpasses weren’t a pain to manage
so this is what it looked like when my parents were kids

Wait really? Do know that some of the props from the moving walkway scene were reused in spaceship earth or something on the lines of that.
Do you happen to have any Carousel of Progress footage? Thanks!
I'm not sure off the top of my head, but I still have a lot of tapes to go through.
