I follow a lot of flashlight channels but I mostly watch videos of the lights I'm interested in. This is the only channel I watch every freaking video due to its cinematography. If you do a 20 minutes video of a brick, I would totally watch it.
Thank you. I've been doing circuit and system design for more than twenty years. A digitally controlled, high-efficiency switching LED driver requires a lot of efforts, from the PCB tracks to the quality of every inductor, capacitor, diode and MOSFET utilised in the circuit. Not to mention the thermal calibration for both the output transistor temperature, and the LED heatsink temperature. I'm not surprised they went for a linear low efficiency design, that you, in the most appropriate way, defined as "lazy". It is obvious how this flashlight has been designed for winning some sort of lumens race, and not to fulfill the needs of a professional user for dependability and reliability. Once more, thank you. Greetings, Anthony
Good review! I think you get a much better value in the Ace beam X75 that you reviewed as compared to this light. Prices are very similar, you get a much better interface, and more output with a better design, and better heat management overall in the x75.
You're exactly right about Immalent's quality control...... in fact, the only thing worse than their quality control is their customer service. I own an MS18, an MS12 original version, and an R90C. All 3 lights have issues with parasitic battery drain, and the R90C battery management went bad. I had to ship the light back to them, and fight with them about not sending me the same defective light back claiming there was no issue. The light had 3 minutes of run time on high and then would die and would charge up in about 15 minutes to do it all over again. They charge far too much for the quality of the product you get. I'm not buying any more of their products.
I think your lumen rating might be overestimated. I measured mine, and it was in line with what Zeroair measured. ~58,000 at startup and -40,000 at 30s. (6500K version too)
They certainly could be. I have found my Integrating sphere gives higher numbers to floody lights than Zeroairs tube does, sometimes much more so. However the lower modes are in line with the 1lumen and ZA numbers - I suspect the difference is mainly due to charge levels, all tests are done immediately after a full charge and numbers are instantly @turnon. I have also found that the more I use the light, turbo seems to be measuring lower, possibly due to the pack wearing. I don't know if that would normally make an appreciable difference
This review is outdated as IMALENT has fixed many issues stated here. NO.1 the low mode is now 50 lumens. No.2 The fan cooling system seems to be much stronger as they do not slow down at all when shaking. No.3 Thermal Improvements. There is intelligent thermal control which will deactivate turbo if the flashlight reaches above 65 degrees Celsius as a safety feature. A bonus new feature is an optional handle version of this light (probably abit more expensive I haven't checked). The main issues that remain are the switch which is only a minor issue as simply adding a white or reflective sticker to it will make it able to be seen in the night and the proprietary battery pack which for some people is good and some people is bad. However this light went from meh to really really appealing in my opinion. And there is also a software lock available 4 clicks which prevents use of the flashlight. I haven't encountered any software glitches. It seems imalent really fixed this light. Also the auxillary leds on the button work fine. Maybe lux wads ms12 mini was a defective product? PS. All this info was from my personal testing and this imalent ms12 mini instruction manual. (Link in replies).
Great review! So Imalent underrate the lumen, but overrate the throw (1000m) of the MS 12? I remember another reviewer mentioning that the throw is nowhere near 1000m.
Imalent stuck with their motto "brightnest flashlight in the world",so..every product that they make must be the brightnest..even for a small EDC flashlight like LD70,they push harder only with single led to reach 4000 lumens so yeahhh...always be has heating issue, bugging firmware, and runtime problem!! Good if they can fixed now Thanks for the review
How does the MS12 Mini-C compare with the MS12 Mini please? I know there is a handle on the MS12 Mini-C and charging time is less for it. But what about other differences please? Have any of the flaws you mentioned in your review here been ironed out ? Grateful for any advice. Thankyou
😂 HAHA! "Might be brighter than the future of America... but it's just Ok." Shots fired? Great review! Thank you for emphasizing the flaws - especially those dangerous ones. I always worry when these companies give away freebies to the influencers and I hear minimizing statements about things that kinda suck, but even more so when there's risk. I do understand, this is an enthusiast light and a good position of the enthusiast community is already aware of potential dangers, but these things tend to get marketed to everyone - even the muggles who just want to be amazed.
Yeah with Imalent marketing this more towards general users, I find highlighting these issues to be even more important, especially when the light costs as much as it does. Most people reviewing these kinds of lights are not enthusiasts and either don't know about the issues, or aren't so much reviewing products as much as serving as advertisements for companies. On the other hand, the light DOES actually do what is advertised, surprisingly, and I imagine it's more than adequate for most people who would consider this light (...but there is the superior X75 on the market now)
Thru sell you these lights advertised 65K Lumens but fail to mention it'll only hold that limit for a minute or 2 not really usable..I found this out the hard way after wasting money on one..I do love flashlights but will only buy lights turbo rated at 3500lm-6000lm as item gold firebox longer and can often run 1800lm-2000lm for a usable time frame and is more than enough light for any situation
@@LuxWad I'm curious if the ms12 mini actually has more lumens. Some guy reviewed it and only got like 65k from the x75. I think I would still go for the x75 though
@@YuhNinja I saw a video Piercing The Darkness posted and he did actually get 80k at startup, similar to this light. Even if it didn't, it's the superior light, though it is a fair bit larger
Yeah, Imalent, you need to go back to the drawing board with this light. if Imalent wants to be taken seriously in the flashlight enthusiast community, they need to step up their QC issues, and simply design a better product. If they currently do not employ a great flashlight designer, perhaps they can hire Luxward. he seems to be on point, as far as addressing all the shortcomings of this light. The lazy design is definitely written all over this light. For the money they are charging, Acebeam is by far a better choice. They put QC and design over quick gimmicks.
I'm still confused as to how you have such a comparably low subscriber count. I found you with the D4V2 review which I then bought right away. Since I've watched every video and am still amazed at your cinematic production quality! I'd like to offer some support, is there any method of contacting you? (Discord eg)
Correction: Weight is 787 grams, not 78. Oops.
Straight up the best flashlight reviewer out there. The amount of effort that goes into your videos is much appreciated.

I'm totally with you. Couldn't have said it better myself.
would be fun if he made a cinematographic video of a rock. would be a nice challenge haha
The most underrated flashlight channel on yt
Thank you.

Honesty goes a long ways👍🏽
So basically a $400 gimmick to impress your friends? I’m in!
Acebeam x75 is a better $400 toy to blind everyone in a mile radius.
This is exactly what I bought the Imalent sr32 for.
Phenomenal review keep up the good quality
Wonderful and extra detailed review, looking forward for the X75
Good review! I think you get a much better value in the Ace beam X75 that you reviewed as compared to this light. Prices are very similar, you get a much better interface, and more output with a better design, and better heat management overall in the x75.
That sustained runtime is amazing! Thanks for an honest review.

I am a big fan of Imalent, however at $400 it needs big improvements. Which is a shame.
I own the LD-10 and LD-70 and I love both.
awesome review as always!👍👍 has a so fantastic cinematic style. it's quite light at 78grams ;)
Ahhh dang it, I really thought I had avoided any text mistakes this time around... It it 787 grams, not 78
Thank you amazing as always ☺️

The fans can be turned on manually by pressing and holding the button down for three seconds. Turned off the same way.
Irreplaceable battery and PROPrietary?
Won't consider a battery pack. When it fails it's a certainty the pack will no longer be available. Not falling for that.
Yeah I don't trust these packs when lights inevitably gets discountued. It would be fine if the cells in the pack could be easily replaced.

Search on Google: Imalent ms12 mini instruction manual for reference

They could've easily cramed a high power density 100W synchronous GaN based smps into that thing for the price.
Yeah I would have hoped to see something like that, but I guess big numbers are what sells and a FET will get the job done
@@LuxWad yea.
Also, your stupid channel got my hooked on the D4V2. I blame you for my awesome light!
Cause of this video I ordered the MS03 now I want this one 😢
I went with the acebeam x75. Better in every way except for size.
Дак размер - самое важное!
Great review!
So Imalent underrate the lumen, but overrate the throw (1000m) of the MS 12?

And cheap build quality.
Also the version I have allows you to turn on the fans while the light isn’t on.
Yes, this version does as well.
Insane.. if I'm paying that much for a damn light, I better at least be able to use it throughout an entire night if needed.
My thoughts exactly
A Great Video,, Thx And Also an AWESONE LINTERN ,, Im Gonna GET IT 4 SURE Via E-BAY ,, Greetings From MEXICALI BAJA CALIFORNIA MEXICO ✌

It’s really crazy that it only weighs 78 grams!
Yeah some crazy weight savings going on here 🙃
A just because we can falshlight! After reaching lumens more than practical the manufacturers should start to work on runtimes.

Yeah for me it’s Hank or noting
But his brightest light, the D18 is _only_ 14000lm
I hope Hank makes a monster active cooled light one day. Like a scaled up D18 with big emitters and an 8x21700 cell tube!
I'm leaning towards just buying hanks too, I mean the customisation is insane, not to mention anduril 2.
You never know we may get an actively cooled D90.3
Fuck yes! Now do the Acebeam X75? Plz
That's the plan

The ms12 mini I just got in is usb c
There is a new model that has USB C charging and includes a handle.
Wanted to buy it, but now I wont because it does not have replaceable batteries and fans
Yeah the non-repairability really sucks
mr90 or acebeam x75 can replace batteries ?
Mr90 uses the same pack as the MS12 Mini, X75 does not have a serviceable battery pack
@@LuxWad so ms12 mini, mr90 and ace x75 do not have battery packs replaceable ?
The battery packs can be replaced, the cells within cannot

that is NOT the brightest, there is one that has 100,000 lumens
You are referring to the Imalent MS18, which does not sustain as much output as the X75. See my pinned comment for more info.
Tt
Dont buy this light
Money beast product
This light battrey issue fast drain one time turbo mode on after 10 min run light automatic stop
