Thanks very much for another good video guys. You mentioned JCS being injured and how the team might line up in his absence against Millwall, but as you may have seen by now, Marti said in his pre-match interview this morning that he's back in training and confident he'll be available tomorrow. Marti also said Chair has been training this week for the first time as well, so maybe he'll be back before long as well with any luck.
Thanks a lot and thanks for bringing that to my attention about Marti's comments - that is a major relief about JCS as like I said I was worried he'd be out for a while. Chair cannot come back soon enough... even once he starts to get 20-30 minutes off the bench that will make such a difference.
Great informative show as usual thank you both. Its a pity Chair is not available to play in this team he could be the missing link to go on a nice run and prevent our usual November slide which we need to avoid this time. JCS is a massive loss he was having a superb season and is re born under Marti fingers crossed its something mild. I think we were really unlucky not to have pushed Palace to penalties even with that experimental line up . Ashby must be having nightmares about Eze he got beaten twice on the game winning deflection by pure skill and magic but like James mentioned we never laid a glove on him.Dont kick lumps out of him just an ocasional hard tackle or pullback to try and frustrate him .He is some player I wonder who got his jersey after the game that will be nice when he plays for City or Real Madrid
Thanks a lot - Yes we just needed to let Eze know he was in a game and wasn't going to have it all his own way. Varane got his jersey I noticed! Chair will seem like a new signing now when he returns and will give everybody a boost. Hopefully it's not too much longer until he is back as he could/should help us to really push on this season.
I think we did really well vs Palace considering Field was having to play CB, and yes it wasn’t that weak of a lineup but it still felt a bit disjointed. I was sitting with a mate who’s a Palace fan who said he was embarrassed by their performance considering they put a near full strength side out that has to go again vs Man Utd - but they made tough work of it vs QPR 😅 Celar was completely anonymous for the entire game, maybe with Frey’s presence it could’ve been a different story, and Alfie Lloyd so close to a last second equaliser so against a really good side I was proud of them for pushing until the end. Millwall is very winnable COYR’S!
Disjointed is a word that keeps coming up - and that comes down to what I spoke about us chopping and changing the side as Marti seeks to find his best 11. Celar was anonymous no doubt, but it was an odd game with little goal mouth action at either end. Let's just hope we are a bit more consistent against Millwall, could be a big win.
The positive from Field covering the left CB was how well he did, but the negative would be his absence from DM duties. For whatever reasons, Celar is not clicking yet. Fingers crossed he does eventually!
Was honestly men against boys on Tuesday in the first half. They played between us and when I saw we had 40% possession, it certainly hadn't seemed that way. Second half, we saw what was possible with the team and the crowd, briefly. But Palace are a better side, wherever they finish in the PL, and they got a grip, took their goal, and we offered not much else after that. An easy win for them to be honest. We miss Chair terribly. We needed Frey to cause them problems. One goal in it was the best we could hope for given the difference in class on the night. What we lack is someone who can fire the ball out wide. If we have the ball in midfield, passing it out wide has to be a quick, one-pass move, but we continue to do it in three. Too slow. We can batter Millwall and it wouldn't be too bad a week. COYRs.
@@paulinnanjing All good points, we have the ball in our own half too much. Palace probably could have gone through the gears if they needed to, but at least we didn't embarrass ourselves and if Lloyd's last minute effort goes in we could have stolen it on pens. I think it could still be a few months before we get in full flow, probably not until we get Chair back like you say we miss him terribly!
Ashby right back and Santos on the wing for me. Continuing to hope Smyth will actually get a decent cross or cut inside, making room for the likes of Celar to breath is insanity because it ain't going to happen. By the way, the cross that Smyth put in prior to the Wednesday goalmouth scramble that lead to the corner was awful. At what point will fans shift way from liking grafters to actual substance.
@@louminati4318 It was a shame he couldn't get a goal against Plymouth when he had a few chances but was trying a bit too hard. If he can just get 1 goal, however it comes, the pressure will be off.
The line-up will be determined by two things: the availability of alternatives at CB and the need to counter the more physical Millwall. My thought is Dunne covering the left CB and that releasing Field to join Colback in the DM role (as that will be where this game will be won or lost).
Agree that it's far too early in the season to judge Celar. I think he will get there but it is dependant on how the team is set up in future games. Millwall is always a tough game so I am going for a 1-1 draw in this one (only joking - 2-0 to the R's!).
Hopefully Celar gets that first goal asap otherwise the criticism will just get worse. Millwall will be tough, but if we perform as we can we are better so let's hope we do!
hey guys, i remember mentioning about celar around month or so ago, i could see he is another washington/bonne or worse.... he had enough match time, for me he is poor, be a tough game saturday but fancy us to win it, really think varane is a class act, you can see he is quality, think santos is decent aswell, id start him over smyth
Those comparisons may well ring true, he's had a tough start no doubting that. I think the fact we paid a decent fee for him has resulted in fans wanting to see something from him quicker. If he was a free I think he'd be afforded a bit more time. I'm still confident once he gets his first goal we will see a different player. I also think the team still need to adjust to how he plays too.
@@hoopsanddreamsQPR he needs to run his socks off would be a good start , he plays like he is injured, bottles out of challenges, watched him vs palace dont even shut down correctly, correct me if im wrong but i dont think he had a single shot on or off target on tuesday night...its appalling .....alfie lloyd did more in 10 mins, honestly its hard to imagine we sold armstrong a guy that was aggressive in his play and in your face and hungry to this guy thats seems totally hopeless as an attacker, lets see saturday if he gets game time but i wont hold my breath, my guess is there ship him out on loan by jan 25 and bring in a loan striker from the prem
Celar needs time, Frey had a short spell at the back end of last season. He will come good, he just needs time on the pitch. Might be good to go to a 4-4-2 with Frey up the pitch too.
@@intunewithcars9484 I just think somebody coming into a new league in a new country needs 6 months. I'm not denying he could show a bit more but I still have hope. If he's not made it by January then I'm sure the club will look at the market again.
I'm confused about the play out from the back style. It seems the keeper hangs onto the ball to try to draw the defense back but they end up doing panic passes to heavily marked players out of the back instead. Then when they try to move forward they're tightly marked and lose the ball early in the opponent's half. Instead of all out attack, they seem to always want to stop with ball. Not criticizing, just asking because I don't understand the style that they play.
@@georgeboron9878 the idea with any team passing out from the back is to draw the opposition in, pass through their press and then our forward players have more space and less defenders to compete against. The problem is at the moment we pass into midfield and back to the defence too often whilst also playing too slowly. We have the ball in our own half too much. We need to pass forward quicker and also pass with more speed. That's why JCS and Colback make such a difference to us as they do that. I think the hope is that Madsen can be the 'link' player going between the lines, but you can see Marti isn't quite sure where to play him yet.
@@hoopsanddreamsQPRJust wanna say thanks for that clear explanation. That’ll definitely help me see the objective of the system when I’m watching the games.
@@hoopsanddreamsQPR Not a fan of R's doing this, there's just too much chance of gifting the opposition possession in our own final third although to be fair I haven't seen it go wrong for us much. Just get the goal kick up to the halfway line instead of tapping it around the six yard box.
@@Diddy1970AD Only time we've been caught out so far was Walsh at Cambridge in the cup and we got away with that. But I agree it can be overkill at times. Far too often we get pushed back and it ends up with Cook or Nardi kicking it long anyway. We haven't got the balance right yet.
