Won't contradict you on that, however, fly by wire was implemented in the french Mirage 10 years before the first flight of the tornado. Led to some crisis between France and Germany.
I really do need a 1 hour detailed breakdown of SOMETHING made by you and no I don’t care it would take so long youd get arthritis it would be worth it this is so damn entertaining
When he mentioned he's "Half german" I was expecting it to be like every American who says they're "half x" and just butcher the german names. Got positively surprised
Dude, how's your English pronunciation so good? I thought I'd have to suffer through bad German with English accent but nuh uh! Your pronunciation is perfect.(I know that I'm like the 69420th comment saying this but I'm genuinely impressed) Also you gotta make longer videos that go like 10-15 minutes or longer. This is perfect breakfast content.
He did say he is half German so it's likely the other part is an English speaking part and he grew up speaking both. I'm saying this as a half German, half British person and I have according to others an authentic sounding English and German accent
You forgott the Eurofighter Typhoon. YES it isnt only from Germany BUT Germany has the strongest one, has the biggest impact when it comes to building these things (simply bc of Airbus) and Germany is also planning on modefieng it even more.
Regarding the Me262 It was probably not the first jet figher, but it was the first to see large scale military service and combat. The swept wings are probably just an accident and not by choice. The first prototypes had straight wings but due to the engines underperforming two instead of just one were needed. Mounting them in the fuselage was not an option as the engines were not reliable and had to be easily accessible for maintenance. So, mounting them on the wings was the only option. This led to massive issues in the stability of the plane even on the ground, so the wings were angled backwards to give the mountings more surface area and thereby increase the quality of the mount. The benefits of the swept wing were not fully understood until years later after the war. Hence, why so many early jets have straight wings
Military engineer speaking : the first fly by wire plane in the world is canadian, and the first fighter to implement it was the French Mirage 4 back in 1964. Otherwise I like your channel. Great videos, dont hesitate to reach out if you need extra background info.
1:57 that is a schempp hirth arcus, the wings are swept upwards like this. (Another very cool german plane, someone flew 3150km in one- without engine) still awesome video
Facts: the first metal plane the J1 was build in 1915 by German engineer Hugo Junkers. Five years before that in 1910 he got the patent for the "Dicker Flügel" - Thick Wing , a revolutionary concept of using a thick, hollow metal wing. The wing would generate more lift and the space inside could be used for fuel storage. I find it crazy that so little ppl actually know about the father of modern aviation, if I might say so. Also, Junkers was a pacifist and democrat. He was disowned in 1933 and banned from Dessau, the city his factories were in. Just wanted to add that, since many ppl just talk about the Stuka Ju87 when they hear the name Junkers. Wich imo is just sullying his legacy.
I don't understand anything about aircraft, aerodynamics and jet engines, but I am convinced beyond reason that the Tornado is the best plane ever built and we need a Tornado II
From my research (And from War thunder too) Germany does not have a Domestic Jet Despite the Tornado been in use by the German Air Force its still technically not German. Last domestic one is the Me 262. beyond that all is either made or bought by other countries such as the Tornado,Euro Typhoon,MiG-29 ad F-4 Phantoms. And now Germany wants to buy a F-35 or will do so,and its sad to see that Germany is relaying on others instead of making a jet itself. Like the cool Dassault Rafale. Also the ECR caught me so off guard, that made my day.
You missed the Alpha Jet made by Dornier. Atlough also manufactured by Dassault its still equally german as its french. same could be said for the Tornado. its one thing buying a plane or beeing involved in its development and producing your own upgraded version that are still kept up to date
@@chechenfeels Those are all still joint projects. What you want is a single country to make it,selling it abroad is doesn't mean its automatically theirs.
First of all thank you for the video, as an aerospace engineering student it’s very fun to watch this kind of contend. Secondly I wanted to point out a couple things, not because you did any mistakes but because I’m a nerd. “Underwing” engines don’t help with the bending of the wing, they actually make matters worse! Because they create more moment as the concentrated mass is positioned further away from the fuselage as if the engines were “inside” the wings. Also slats were very common on ww2 fighters so i wouldn’t say it was pure innovation. Still the 262 is a great plane, and I love it. Next up will you do my country? Italian aircrafts like the Piaggio p180, sagittario, c205 and g91 deserve some love too!
Another great video! I would love to see some more spacey content, but these are great too! Also it might be cool to see a video on war thunder from you, but it kind of strays a bit from your genre, even though it has planes, so that might harm your channel. Love your videos as always!
You could have included the Eurofighter as well. Ausßerdem war die Ho-229 auch ein krasses Flugzeug. Der Tornado ist ja schon echt cool aber da gibt’s noch krassere Flieger im deutschen Arsenal
One could argue that the actual first fighter jet was the gloster meteor considering it was actually capable of engaging in combat and it also got it's first kill before the me262
@@theholyinquisition389 I have a hard time believing the nazis when none of the 262s saw combat when they were allegedly assigned to squadrons. Do you really think they didnt get a single intercept for weeks when there were thousands of allied planes right above them every week?
