- How much room is there in a Com-Pac 16 sailboat? I try to show the interior and give a sense of how much (or how little) space there is inside this great little sailboat

This is a very helpful video. Thanks. I seem to recall that with my CP-16, I had trouble sleeping on my side, but in every other respect, the boat was very nice. I'm contemplating buying another one someday as part of my downsizing trend, but that hip clearance issue is still a concern. Anyway, thanks for the great video!
Thanks for watching!
Lots of good tips here, always something new to learn.
Thanks for watching
Accurate display of the 16’s interior and how to utilize it. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Good stuff thank you

Randy, man, thank you for this video!! That was a great walk through of the CP16, I am guessing if you're a side sleeper the hips might be an issue. :o) But that visual of you in the breath was very helpful. If I end up wanting a CP16, I am coming to you first... hoping you have one to sell then, of course. I have to finsihing my Kitchen first. :o) Thanks frined, your the best!.
Glad it helped
Thanks for watching!
Just in case you are interested
I will be listing this latest 1985 CP16 for sale in a few days
This is the one I recently took camp sailing
$4k
It will be a good while before I have another one for sale
I do have a 1981 model but it will need an extensive interior rebuild and it will be several months before I get to it
Good evening my friend. Hope that you are doing well today. I am still having trouble with mt balance. I really can’t do much outside. It has been about 1.5 years since my surgery, so I am not doing well. By actual count I have fallen 75 times since I left the hospital. Most have been in the house, but I have had a couple of ambulance falls. We have not been to the coast but twice this year. No kayaking this year or last year. I have been out of my element which has left me pretty sad.
I am glad that you showed us how to sleep on the Compac 16. It looks as if it would be difficult to sleep on your side. I toss and turn a lot at night. I am concerned that I would just about fit. I does look exciting for a couple nights on the lake. At Lake Norman there is so much development that all the coves are filled with houses. At one time, you could find a quiet cove, toss out an anchor and sleep until about 9:00 AM. Anyways thank you for showing me the accommodations. I really like the boat. Even when I had a big boat I wanted a little boat. For guys like us, smaller is the way to go to lakes in North Carolina.
Tommy
Nice hearing from you again Tommy
And continued prayers for you my friend
The 16 is small, but I can lay on my side ok

Thank you for this episode. I've been really trying to narrow down my purchase for next season, and have been leaning towards the Com-Pac line. I'm about a inch shorter than you, but about 100 lbs. heavier, so seeing the actual size of the quarter berths really helped to rule out the 16 for me. I really think that the 23 is the size that I'm likely to settle down with, although the 19 might be a good compromise -- time will tell. As always, please keep up on the great work -- I love the fact that I never know what you'll be working on next -- I'm always hoping that you will come across something different (Skipper 20, Balboa 16 or 20, Precision 18, Rob Roy 23, Tanzer 22, WWP 15 or 19, Seaward 22, or even a Midship 25). Keep up the great work!!!
The 23 is by far my favorite Com-Pac
It sails better than the 19
Thanks for the suggestions
Interesting to see how fellow compac owner manages sleep outs. Regards!

LOL “Like sleeping in a coffin…” 😂. Great line! I also liked your apt comparison of the cabin being like a pup tent. This was the main factor in our decision to go with the Sun Cat instead of the 16. My wife fell in love with the larger cabin and it makes sense because we will be camping in if for longer stays. As you said, the 16 would work quite well for one person. I have a question about your companionway bug screen. I may have missed it in one of your other videos but have you described how the screen attaches to the boat? Thanks for the informative tour of your 16. Tim
@timneely946 the screen has a weighted edge sewn in and it just lays over the top and drapes down
Kind of a coated lead rope sewn around perimeter
I think you can buy these pre made
Mine will also work on my CP 23
Very nice, the only thing is there is no room for a porta potty. My wife would definitely want one, if out for a day, or a couple of days.
There actually is room for one but just
It goes under the companionway hatch
You slide it forward to use but it is tight
I normally set it out in the cockpit at night
Where did you get the Blue triangle Com Pac Flag? Where do you fly this flag?
I have had this burgee flag for well over 30 years
It was our Com-Pac club burgee back then
I fly it on the starboard shroud when anchored sometimes

Just saw this get listed, and I really wish I had held off on buying my daysailer! Was really hoping for a Com-Pac but never saw any pop up near me until this one.
An O’day daysailer is a good boat
Enjoy it
