Thank you for sharing this. I am a retired 1st responder (law enforcement) and I drove down to Joplin from St. Louis that night as quick as I could to help. I joined a convoy of fellow 1st Responders flying down Hwy 44. When I/we arrived, we were directed to the University and then went down to "Ground Zero". I didn't know the streets/directions then (but soon learned). When we got off the bus (there were about 10-15 of us law enforcement, military, fire and EMS), one of the Marines said, "NO WAY...I've been to war 4 different times and this is 100 times worse!...where do we start?" An elderly man came out around the side of a demolished home (I think we were around 20th and Iowa, maybe?) and his head was full of glass. He had suspenders and a white shirt with tan pants (I'llnever forget him) and tugged on my shirt saying so mournfully, "Have you seen my city? I can't seem to find anyone or anything anymore..." I went back home to St. Louis the next morning and came down as soon as I gathered up my 2 dogs and returned to Joplin about noon on Monday. And I/we stayed the next 4 weeks... God bless all of you that survived...and for all of you in Heaven (1 of which I helped find)...May God's light eternally shine upon you!
Sorry about your timing moving to Joplin, but I say ANYONE that went through that storm is a part of Joplin forever. I also hope no one ever has to go through anything like that. Glad that you all were okay!
Its so weird to see all this... For such a memorable day my brain kind of shut off when me and my husband and kids were in our closet and heard all these weird noises (like the noises I heard on your bathroom video) You all sounded a lot calmer than I was though! :) I remember us having to walk about halfway across town to get to my sisters vehicle but I don't remember seeing anything (even that more than our bloc was about gone) I now we couldnt get to many places by car though. Thanks!!
you actually went down the exact street my brother put his family in the car to go across said street to a basement. at the time things were flying through the air but he literally rescued his own family as well as the family next door by traveling through his. its about right after this video end is where my brother told his wife an child to go back because they rounded a corner with carnage. thank you for not posting or perhaps not taping that part
It's so nice and so peaceful before and after a direct hit. Its so very strange but weirdly peaceful to see and experience so much horror of Nature"s fury while you are still alive and coherent. I can't find the right words to describe it...I've been in these situations before, this one when I was 12 years old, living right across the Ohio river in Northern Kentucky. The tornado siren just a block up the street went off around 3a.m. Looking out our front door, the skies over downtown Cincinnati were deep Red, but there was no wind, no sirens - nothing. Perfect peace that would scare the pants off anyone!!!
Joplin was devasting and not sure in 2011 how so many people died and did listen to warnings large powerful tornados are no joke its either get underground in a sturdy basement or leave the area there is no survival above ground close to the main rotation.
I wonder how much people touring the damage for entertainment value prevented emergency vehicles from getting more quickly to those desperate for life-saving treatment. Hope you had fun...
TexLondon >>> Oh I’m sure if they saw red lights behind them, they’d have pulled over, and gotten out of the way. Stop projecting the “what-if’s” into this, simply because you disagree with what they did. By chronicling the event, they allowed many people on here to see things they recognized, and were personal to them. Unique perspectives. No different than what The Weather Channel does, when they go live. No... I didn’t interpret this as them going out, to “get off” on other people’s misfortune... not at all.
Evil is rebuke in the blood of Christ amen I wish the people well all over the earth and what they face trust in god is your best thing in life holding faith amen

Desensitized to constant warnings and it was rain wrapped and no one could see it.
HEY! Slugbug silver, no punch backs :D
Never mind. On the next video it shows that you were talking about the garage.
The radio announcer when he was announcing the tornado, very bonechilling.😢😢
How is Joplin doing now, about 5 years afterwards?
Our town has bounced back!
That's so sad 😢
Are you talking about carnage of stuff or of people? I ask because you were so close to the Wal-Mart area.
No, that's not how all of us are.
at 15 seconds we are only 2 blocks from our house.
On tiktok
Missouri Southern State University was not in the path, so some people stayed there in the gym, etc.

TexanerinLondon nobody prevented or slowed emergency vehicles from helping. What a pathetic attempt to try and make people feel bad.

Lookieloos clogging the roads....
Can you imagine if that many people came out to clear streets at the very least?

So the victims were not blessed?
Shut out, SJW. I bet you weren't out helping them, were you. Only virtue-signaling on RUclips. Hypocrite.
Say I if you punched an person because its an punchbug?
This is so boring, can't make sense of it, very poor storytelling.
No compassion.
