      Thanks man! I try to actually review these models like they're a product and not just a sales pitch given to me by a company. Part of that comes with being sponsored by my local hobby shop - I talk about the shop as part of my sponsorship, but I'm free to showcase the models I fly and talk about them without being pressured to say that they're awesome. I only accept sponsorships where I can maintain my integrity. I feel strongly that radio control is plagued with people who aren't as truthful as they should be, given the price point of these models.

    I've learned the hard way, always run 2 throttle cuts. Too easy to bump the throttle cut switch 1 obviously the throttle cut, the other a 0 throttle curve on a switch.

    jon thanks for anothe great reaview. i had the red commander and got this 1 for a spare. i love it. thanks again for telling the good and bad. there are too many influencers who drink the koolaid and rave about whatever plane was given to them that day. it seems there is a best flying plane weeekly lol. imo they all are designed to fly well. you run into problems when you ask a plane to do what it wasnt designed to do and that is when a consumer wants a replacement immediately and bad mouths a company when it doesnt happen lol.

    HAAHHAA Thanks Jon, now I want one. But I do like the 60 ic3 better as well. For more power and torque capable, than the 45amp Avian. Super nice review, spot on sir!! I do not know much, only flying for 15 months, but thanks for letting me know about the full span ailerons, the linkages. How to if some day I can get one of those. Peace

    I come for your videos because I know you’re gonna fly the shit out of it. Just starting my rc aviation journey. Just totaled my carbon cub s2 yesterday after like 2 years of cutting my teeth on it. Two planes in the basement ready to go. Next up is Cirrus 1.5m. Also a Draco still in the box. Stoked to fly them but I wanted to be sure my skill were up for the challenge. Hope my programming is correct!

    I think im alright with the stock esc/motor combo on this plane. Those wheel pants have always been the turn off for me. Recently viewed a YT video with one "sans" pants and 4" DuBro's on it. Looked way better. And performed a lot better in grass. Even fairly rough grass, which is about all I'm flying off of here.
    It's got this plane back on my "want" short list.
    Anyway, love the video- even with the bug-swat boogying 😂
    Thanks for another great review vid 👍

    Haven't maidened mine yet. Waiting on a calm weekend. One thing I did notice is that there is NO ventilation for the ESC. There is an inlet behind the prop, but no exit hole for the air to pass through. The ESC is sitting in a voided pocket. What's your opinion on that. I'm going to have to cut some kind of exit hole for the air to pass through. I live in the desert where 115 degrees is common.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад

      It's definitely not in an air-tight space. There's holes in the front of the model and the underside of the empennage. No need to add any airflow - the air flows from the cowling through the fuselage and past the foam blocks holding the pushrods in place.

    Great video Jon! Regarding an idea of being more safe with our models, I’d like to make my transmitter alert me when the throttle cut switch is not enabled when I turn the radio on. Thoughts?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад +1

      Depends on your radio, but any modern Spektrum radio should have a model start alert option that won't let you work with the model until your chosen switches are disabled.

      @@TwoBrosRC Hey Jon, this setup has been super helpful in understanding how to get the best out of the IX20. I have a question though, on the flaps up setting, any reason why the flaps don’t go fully up? Is that in purpose ?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад

      @@LeeShand Fully up as in they don't move fully up on your model, or fully up as in they're not moving to a specific numerical value you're looking for? If they're not moving all the way up, you need to adjust your pushrods. If it's a number value, that's pretty arbitrary and nothing to worry about.

    Can you still control Safe mode after splitting the flap servo wires and plugging the second one into channel 5? It’s the only free channel on the AR631 receiver, and based on what I found Ch5 is used to control the AS3X modes.
    I’m using an OTX radio with multi protocol module to work with the Spektrum receiver.
    Thanks for your help.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, you can control SAFE/AS3X once you unlock the receiver and reprogram it. We can't really advise you about how to use OTX with Spektrum receivers, but some people in the #tech-and-setup channel on our Discord might be able to assist: bit.ly/TBRCDiscord

      One follow-up question, please:
      I knew that the AR631 can be reprogrammed but had not considered it since I am now using all of its 6 channels (throttle, elevator, rudder, aileron, right flap, left flap). Or do you put both servos in each wing on a y-cable into one channel? I didn’t do that since I’d like to preserve the original setup with separate flaps that worked very well for me.

    While I like the elliptical wing and overall design of this aircraft, the Commander and the smaller RV7 seem redundant and less capable than Eflites Extra 300. I guess if I needed another smaller, similarly capable airframe then the Commander or RV7 would be decent candidates.

    I had the original for 199.00. New one cost 299.00. What changed,colors, better motor, better esc , better servos. What they didn't improve. Still has foam hinges, could have used nylon or CA. The landing gear is crap, tail wheel will break, main will split the foam wrapped around the metal. For 100.00 more than the original it's sad HH didn't fix the hinges, or landing gear. Order replacement gear when u order the plane because it will be back ordered. I tried to leave negative review and HH will not put it up

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  2 года назад

      IDK man, I haven't had any issues. The foam hinges are pretty resilient. The prices of everything worldwide have gone up, so I'm not surprised that it's $299 now.
