    @dvaplustripet - Best use of your time is to start with standing meditation; you can find free instructions on-line or go to a seminar to get personal instruction. To do what Ma does requires at least a year of standing. Then you should know a good teacher when you find one, or go to seminars and bring back knowledge to train with your friends - and train for years. Practice forms and combine the knowledge from push-hands and forms practice. Continue to practice standing.

    You are right but this is overacted. Not real. Sorry. If he pushed with a stranger he would not be so succesful.

    I can only compare this to my limited Aikido training.
    The only thing I can imagine is happening is that the master have move the younger and stronger person into a position in which he cannot over power him. After the master is in this dominating position, he proceeds to imbalance him.
    This power is not strength. My guess is that it's what they call Qi.
    That is my only guess as to what is happening... I can easily be wrong. I am open to any and all criticisms.

    They say the closer one is to the goal the further away the accomplishment. This man is demonstrating to the world, through this video. another potential of human-beingness. I believe , no I know, the method is irrelevent, except for the path he has taken to awaken and refine this potential: Martial Arts. What I have said so far refers to the benefits of such a practice for those who wish to evolve. This is the real thing brothers and sisters. Its amazing.

    The technique of the old man is understood. Based on internal energy (known as Ki) to hit the balance of the opponent, but the question is: in a real combat, would it serve? I mean notice the opponents, they seem to be using the same style of the martial art. What if Aikido or any other form is used against the old man's Tai Chi? Frankly, I never did Tai Chi, so I am not sure if I have the right answer. Thanks for the video...interesting.

    Granted, there's a lot of fakery when it comes to this kind of thing, but it demands collusion between the two or more parties involved. Granted also, it doesn't "look real." But Ma Yueh-liang was the real thing; he's widely acknowledged as one of the great masters of the 20th century. I have no trouble believing he can do these things because I've experienced similar phenomena at the hands of my first teacher, Cheng Man-ch'ing.

    Tai chi is very real! For tbose of us who know about Rooting, breathing from the "dan tien" and RELAX AND LOOSEN YOUR WILL WHILE EMPTYING THE STOMACH! I've felt the true Power of "tai chi" it will do internal damage beyond your belief! No muscle is needed for tai chi, tendons and ligaments are what don't get tired! Well l, I'm not gonna try to convince those WHO DON'T KNOW...... BEWARE IS ALL I'M GONNA SAY! (snickering)

  • @Lonesomesundown

    He shows no EXTERNAL movement. He does exert force. Imagine leaning against a door. Someone knocks hard on the other side. Someone might wonder why you jump away as the door didn't move. You, in contact, felt the door move, even though it moved only a fraction of an inch. Ma's student Wang Hao Da could hit that door really hard and Ma was even better. So exerts the energy? The fascia, ligaments, tendons, stretched on the bones, store and release energy. It takes years of training to do this.

    How the hell can philosophy change a natural universal law?? I get it, he has advance ET tech. Oh, fail, my bad, he's in cloth. Well.. how about an invisible entity working on his "tai chi chuan"??? Still don't get it? See other facts about this, learn basic phicics, research and learn the truth about the supernatural.. there should seemingly be some letter from God to us humans telling several things that truely shed light to this strange phenomena. GL doin that!

    @Lonesomesundown basic resonance in many fields of physics. As you said, there's no magic or trickery going on here.
    I'd comment on the skill of the guy falling all over the place. it may be that he's not trying too hard to absorb and redirect the energies that are causing him to flail and fall. I think he's deliberately avoiding a broader and looser stance in order to emphasize the effects of the master's movements on a stiff or unyielding opponent.

    @ujin765 What is it you think they are doing here? You're right, they are training their minds, but what is the purpose of an exhibition like this if it can't be used? They are trying to make a claim that these methods are useful and showing off what they can achieve. I not only claim they must have an Ego in the philosophical sense to even be doing this exhibition, but also stick my my previous claim, this will only work on an indoctrinated individual under set conditions, not any random Joe.

  • @ujin765
    @ujin765 13 лет назад

    @Dracklen248 - I can totally see where ur coming from. In a sense, ur statements are legit, but in another, not really. first of all, it wouldn't be used everywhere, because to achieve this kind of control, one has to be SO advanced consciously, that VERY few people get there. You dont TRAIN your MUSCLES here... you train your mind. This can take a lifetime of dedication, and after, the last thing you want is to become rich. Riches are for the Ego, and to get here you have to eliminate it.

  • @Lonesomesundown

    @thirdtuck Ma was a Wu stylist, much softer than Chen style. If a big man tried to lean on you and you moved out of the way the man would fall or retreat to find his balance. Push-hands skill can be used to manipulate heavier, stronger people. It is the study of how to screw with peoples balance, NOT how to push them. Internal energy helps you screw with other's balance. Training internal energy is no secret - it is just easier to doubt it than to do the work.

  • @Dracklen248
    @Dracklen248 14 лет назад

    @ujin765 The net magnetic force of a person has almost no bearing on them. Simple fact of the matter is that this is a mentality. People believe it works and so it works for them. If this was a real fighting style then the people making millions off of winning fights would be using it. If there were such a thing as a knockout-punch or any kind of energy/flow/magnetism attacks that actually worked on non-indoctrinated individuals, it would be worth millions and used everywhere.

  • @ujin765
    @ujin765 14 лет назад

    @thirdtuck - I really dislike it when people say something like: I have practiced for over 20 years, and haven't experienced anything like this, and I can't do it, thus it doesn't exist. It has nothing to do with the art itself, but everything to do with your lifestyle and your mind. Only complete clarity and harmony between your energy, body, mind, emotion, thought - would you be properly aligned, and thus create this kind of electro-magnetic field. You're a magnet. Fusion of + and - ions.

  • @thirdtuck
    @thirdtuck 14 лет назад

    interesting how all of his opponents are much skinnier and lighter than he is. mass is energy. i would like to see him manipulate someone who is much heavier than he is. maybe a Brock Lesnar or something. i am not a hater, i am also a practitioner of taichi and have even studied under some of the best chen style masters in china. never seen or experienced anything like this.

    @d Master has thick, low center & moves body as one, rooted to earth. Student's a feather, carries weight high, moves body in segments, not rooted. Perhaps not fake, but students are virtually hypnotized by previous experience w/ teacher's ability: They fall just from seeing teacher approaching them. The effect'd be less magical on a total stranger, or if student pushed-hands w/eyes closed, a common practice. Student's performance here doesn't say much for master's teaching ability :-)

    @jfuya2000 - [Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. It is distinguished from other ways of addressing fundamental questions (such as mysticism, myth, or the arts) by its critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on rational argument. -- Wikipedia.] Spirit is critical, yet distinguish between spirit and magic. To believe in magic is to give up trying to understand.

  • @Lonesomesundown
    @Lonesomesundown 14 лет назад

    Neither faking nor telekinesis. Action at 2:00 Ma set up oscillations that upset balance. Search for: Manipulation of forward estimation of movement state, by Grant Mulliken. Opponents apply force and Ma leads them into emptiness. 2) Use deep fascia instead of muscle. Standing meditation (stress) converts fibroblasts to myofibroblasts used in the subtle, rapid, muscle-like expansion/ contraction we call chi. His art is the result of years of philosophical research and training. Not magic!

    I think on Master Ma's level the internal physical mechanics is so refined, that he could do the same thing to people not trained in Taiji. In theory he could do less and affect more damage to such a person. In terms of Qi energy it should still work if you consider it a physical energy (ie. heat, kinetic, force, etc.). I think it's not the same with spiritual or electromagnetic force field as such.

  • @akirahojo2
    @akirahojo2 15 лет назад

    I have not Push-hand with someone of Master Ma's calibre, but from what I understand those students are taught to do little steps to neutralise the jing coming from Master Ma. In this context, Jing is like a refined push energy. What's amazing is that it looks like Master Ma hardly does anything, but in reality there are many circular/spiral energy changing within his body. Of course, the best way to test or prove it is to do it with someone of his calibre =)

    I have experienced being on the losing side of this kind of push hands. A real master can see every instability in you stance as clearly as the nose on your face and it only takes a tiny force to nudge you in that direction where you are least stable. That is what is happening there. Once you have been nudged (or pulled) you are struggling to recover so hard that you send yourself across the room. It feels just like when you stumble and are trying to recover by getting your feet under you.

  • @cannonfist64
    @cannonfist64 15 лет назад

    Its push hands so right away you are talking about an exercise that develops the senistivity in relation to dynamic press and neutralize skills. The rules can vary depending on what you are training (more or less restrictive) here they are showing fixed footwork, no fixed pattern of pressing/neutralizing, no grabbing, or locking. I have a solid background and I can only see about 70%of what Master Ma is doing his skill is very small and subtile.These skills are a helpful component of fighting.

    This is perfect mastery. ALL REAL. The master is not using any power at all Maybe using 1%. He is merely redirecting opponents force. The harder they try the harder they fall. This is perfect mastery.

    @mindahl : Essentially, and old man practicing (or demonstrating) a Chinese form of wrestling. In "western" terms, it might be best described as maintaining your own balance and contact the the opponent until you get a chance to push him out of balance. The comical effect is because it is typically practiced with very slow movements.

  • @patinho5589

    someone not trained or sensitive as you put it - would be just more susceptible because they woulndt know how to disspiate the energy or 'go witrh the flow' to dissipate rather than resist and get hurt. and so they would get real hurt real bad on the inside.
    the energy is universal and does not depend on the awareness of the opponent to exist per se.

  • @Marpa47
    @Marpa47 15 лет назад

    I have seen it before in another master also --- that, once you commit yourself to an unstable stance, your are finished. the master just waits for you to make that one opening and it is all over. Tai chi is about effortlessness of movement and this video captures that. and as fo the economy of movement, well it takes time (94 y.o.).

  • @cannonfist64
    @cannonfist64 15 лет назад

    In parts of this video the master is really pushing the students out. There are parts of it that I can't see so clearly (especially on the one handed techniques) which leads me to believe that there could have been some playing to the audience by both master and student. Master Ma is very subtile and I really had to look closely to see the parts that I could.

This man has complete mind intent projeced through the form and practice of Tai Chi Ch'uan. He is demonstrating telekinesis. It is real and he is proving it. The people he is pushhanding with are not students. They are adepts who are studied in their art. This is especially true of the last man. Truely inspirational.

    Looked fake to me until I trained with Ma's senior student. Then it was clear what was really happening. The man thrown is focused on keeping his center of balance, not on keeping his footing. Wang (~120 lbs., 5'-2") did this demo with a senior student (210 lbs., 6'-2") who was determined to keep his footing. The student's feet stayed put yet he was wildly off balance. In a fight he'd have been exposed at numerous points. This is a demo of a specific skill and not sparring. This video is real.

    Master Ding, who is giving a rare seminar on the Yang Tai Chi Snake form in Milan, this November, does precisely the same thing at the same level and more. This is an example of good internal control. Then there is the fighting part, which is even harder to find. Push hands is not fighting. That no one among us reading or writing here can achieve this level is ridiculous. The trouble is not finding a good master, though there are truly very few, but that the master finds suitable students. So very few people are willing to work hard enough and long enough to achieve even this basic level of mastery of oneself, which leads naturally to the control of one's adversary or partner. Real TCC training is much, much more difficult and arduous than most people will ever know. I do know a couple of people who have trained under master Ding and who have achieved this level of ability. All it takes is proper instruction, lots of work and a long, long time.
