    I did not use to believe it either..but I had to change. The students look silly because one of the things they try is not to oppose the force of the Master, but to relax and find an elastic force instead ,from the elastic muscular phase, in case you like science, (and they fail) otherwise, they would be thrown much further away...This is a little jewel for those who have practiced with his students. Write whatever you want, but you cannot know it if you have not experienced it.

    Thanks for sharing this video . This is martial arts and the belated Grand master Huang was a great ambassador for Tai Chi to Malaysia from china and the video is a normal pratical with the students after their training .Remember this is not MMA or UFC as a combat sport but mainly for self defence and for me as a boy was an outing with my uncle to his lessons who is one of his pupil just like one would join a club just like football in England .When one understands Chi and achieve it than you will understand the real strength .Life is a journey and we do not stop learning as we get older.

    Ditto middlemedicine, I've studied Tai Chi Chuan since 1980 with 3 of Master Huang's classmates. These students are not acting, over-reacting, or selling anything. That is how you fly when a master of HHH's level touches you with his soft power or "long focus". And yes, there is also a hard power or "short focus".Thankfully there are many masters & adepts who can demo this, what the Chinese call the Tai Chi kung fu.This is one of most illuminating Tui-shou clips ever.Thanks Tony for great post!

    I managed to get a copy of Patrick Kelly's book about training with him for 20 years. It is all true and real. He was training from the age of 14 in Daoist traditions and Fujian White Crane and many others, before going on to teach in many places and opening many schools. So far the best way to explain it in my own words is that the process of reaching each physical/body expression consists of an almost infinite number of movements calculated by the deep passive awareness in response to the opponent while the deep active mind is creating the jing from relaxed muscle expansion and deciding where to direct that expression of jing.
    If you can get a copy of the book its fantastic. I read it a year ago when I just started practicing Qi Gong and I'm just re reading it now after that year and its taken on a whole new level of meaning....Mind blown and so I thought I'd google Master Huang and now I can literally see what he is talking about and not quite how he does it because its so fast. Its almost like he is a stone statue and moving each molecule independently but together. Astounding.

    Thanks Nil. Very kind of you to share. I always get a kick out of watching real kung fu.
    Some people will not believe it until they get a personal experience. I have had many. I know what we are seeing is real. And that there are even deeper levels of these arts. But you must put in long hours of training with a really good teacher. And after several years your skills begin to develop. I have only been training now going on forty five years. And am only scratching the surface. I hope in another ten years to be able to demonstrate why we call this art the Supreme Ultimate Boxing. Wish me luck. Still, external skill is better than none. Many people commenting have no skills at all.

    If you are lucky enough to feel from a Master like this, you won't doubt. It feels like getting hit by a truck... What the trolls are saying is this isn't possible and they would do something different. I know this because I didn't believe either... Find some humility maybe you too will be allowed to find someone this talented. Stop being a jerk and maybe you might find your Master.

    As usual there are commenters/trolls who have little understanding of what they are watching. Of course the students are 'playing along', they have been taught to in order to survive practise without injury. 'Hopping like a sparrow' is similar to 'breakfalls' you learn in jiu jitsu or aikido. It dissipates the force and helps you to stay upright. You are seeing a demonstration of the practice of 'breaking the root' or 'uprooting' from various tai chi movements. If these techniques were applied with power and the angle changed the students would go straight to the floor and be seriously injured. There is no matting or padding, just another student waiting to catch and send back. Try to get beyond your juvenile hollywierd nonsense perception and understand it as a very subtle and advanced form of training touch sensitivity. Touch is faster than sight.

      No one is questioning chi sao and breaking the root here. What I for instance question is nor tai chi nor its techniquest. What i do question is this "master. Martial arts is not some magical flow in your body, its training hard, being able to control your body, train your muscle memory and have a fighters spirit. It's certainly not this

    • @darklight120
      @darklight120 5 лет назад

      In reality the movements and positioning will never provide a blow or impact as they can accurately do. It already has been proven through forceful combat. I truly understand the art. But the realm this and other styles are not effective at all in common situations. Biggest factor is that its impractical. This is still Hollywierd category to me. Its an art. Not combat. Muay Thai is an art for combat and emphasis is on breaking the other. Muay boran pure combat. Yes, I know its a demo.

    Thanks for the reply. I am familiar with William C C Chen, Chen Xiao Wang and Chen Bing. I have never seen them do this type of thing. Do you have videos of them doing this (causing people to fall down and bounce back with no apparent effort)? Chen Xiao Wang and Chen Bing seem to use a lot more "effort" when they push hands.

  • @Defaultlogin888

    When a master of this level uses a technique, the execution is so flawless that the force comes from an angle that the opponent does not have the opportunity to resist. The circles that coordinate the interception are incredibly compact, and novice practitioners don't have the time to contemplate "submissiveness" before having already lost their balance.

    Why should they fake anything?

  • @nitefox1343
    @nitefox1343 6 лет назад +1

    Getting angry and insisting it is fake is ok. It shows disbelief at a world not understood. Trolling the sights indicates a desire to "prove" it is not real so that ones understanding of the world is correct. This is the world of youth or ignorance. If one's intellect and wisdom is high enough, somehow the universe ensures that they eventually meet someone this good. It is what EVERY true martial artist will seek. To be willing to say "I don't know?" Is there even a remote possibility that this "might" be real?" That opens up great possibilities. Hopefully for their growth what they are really saying is "I wish I had the chance to prove to myself that this is real or not real. If all they want to do is prove to the world rather than themselves they may never get the chance.for either. Masters of this level are very very few. There is a "tradition" of paying the master. It would not make sense for a master to pay his students in hopes to gain other students that he also must pay to keep his "secret" going. The human mind will come up will all sorts of reasons for anything it does not understand. The Tai Chi Classics are indeed real in this world. Good luck.

Popularity determines nothing except in this case the abysmal stupidity of a lot of people.

    • @istillion

      +Baiyuantongbei This will be my only comment. In the video, Huang is practicing with older people, who may not have his background in Tai Chi, so he will easily be able to move them around. The benefits of real Tai Chi practice under a traditional teacher are immense. For your health and mental well being. It really does strengthen your tendons and full body coordination in a way that no other exercise does. Just because all of it may not look right doesn't mean it's not an amazing art with lots to offer.
      Data is IMMENSELY useful in our modern world, and most Tai Chi players I know are critical thinkers who would agree. While it is highly beneficial, in the hands of arrogant people it's just as useful as mud gods.

      +Bardactic No one argued this point. But, as the Classics of Taijiquan say, "Taijiquan is not _only_ a martial art..." What does that statement mean to you? It means that if nothing else, Taijiquan _is_ a martial art. If the proponent ("Master") cannot demonstrate the martial aspect of the art in any credible way, he doesn't know the art of Taijiquan at all. Better not to call whatever it is he teaches "Taijiquan." Instead, call it "slow calisthenics invented somewhere in China." That would be honest.

      +James ALEXANDER Yeah, I used to be an assistant instructor at a karate school (Tang Soo Do), plus some other stuff, now I'm mostly doing tai chi, push hands, and sword.
      What this video shows is a standard Master push hands demonstration with his experienced students (at least 2 years by their posture). It's not especially impressive compared to Ben Lo's videos, but yep this stuff is real. In fact, he's being gentle.
      My 70 year old teacher can throw me 10ft with a gesture. Normally guys twice my size can't move me an inch.
      It feels like getting hit by a wave. You go flying but there's no sense of violence. It's surprisingly soft. But it's also easy to just send a person flying into objects or other people, so it's still quite dangerous.
      My advanced tai chi class is just a few of us throwing each other around in a park and laughing cuz it's fun. It's mostly body mechanics but it feels like magic when you catch someone in the right spot and send them flying just by shrugging your arm

      All martial arts has some sort of value there has been a few MMA fighters who have sucessfully incorperated Tai Chi into their style... Although your statement is true because MMA was designed for combat and Tai Chi has been watered down to health and mindfulness does not mean it is useless. You still shouldnt disrespect any martial art like that since all martial arts has its value and its place.

      @Jack Smith Yeah, since this comment i have done alot of extenstive research and found a local school teaching the martial side. They teach push-hands, weapon forms, Chin-Na (Joint locks) and alot of other martial sides of Tai Chi. I found a video of a Tai Chi practictioner showing joint locks and one was almost identical to a Kali joint lock. After Covid i am definetely going to check the local school out it seems very interesting.

      I reckon he is relaxed with his inner school. From what I've read about him he was internally a mischevious follower of the Daoist tradition and not so much like when his teacher's hat was on and he was as you'd expect - stern and extremely careful about showing off and maintaining order and discipline. Hope that helps - I've just been reading Patrick Kelly's account of being his student for 20 years. Recommend it.

    Too much kowtowing to be relevant to anything, especially the development of a modern internal art. The great masters know how to develop students who can perform these "abilities" on the teacher. Not the other way around. The time for this type of training has been gone for 3 generations.

      @@joshpickles9022 no, Adam does not represent Huang in any way--he took some classes with some of Huang's students but as far as I know there is not even a straight answer as to who in Huang's school Adam actually studied with and for how long. Many people I know have asked and gotten the run around in answer to that very simple question.

    Sorry to say this but this kind of Tai Chi performance is a completely colective hipnosys! First none of these applications are realistic, second there are no TCC principles here: I know the reputation of this master in Southeast Asia but to me this is fake!

    Such garbage. Each student gets $10 every time he flys away as if hit by a sonic wave. What twaddle. They all look so scared to make a move that might show the Master up. All unreal moves, nice practice, not much help in actual combat. Good for the health though and for massaging one's ego.

      You'd likely be scared too and learn respect after you'd tested it a few times. I had opportunity to train for a bit with his students. You learn fast that as you ramp it up, the harder you go, the much harder you fall - if they consider you worth learning the lesson. The best part (and why it really earned my respect), is that as a beginner, you can't even figure out how you were beaten. I met teachers of other martial arts too who came to study it for that very reason. The techniques are so subtle, it seems almost magic or just a fluke. You're quickly forced to find ways to improve, without just using blunt force and make it playful to be able to keep training without injury. Sometimes even trying out odd things to explore limits. Sure, occasionally some people get carried away and overly just go on - but that's not the teacher. Not much help in actual combat? Well, even for the short time I trained, it helped get me out of a number of hairy situations, with a minimum of effort, as it's intended.

      He apparently knows more than you Rob since this is no martial art but a pointless show to attract dumb westerners, who are willing to pay to learn from this "master". Even Tai Chi Chuan is a martial art and this dude teaches you pointless crap which is not applicable in any situation.

  • @kevinparker9407
    @kevinparker9407 7 лет назад +17

    • @dwddindin
      @dwddindin 5 лет назад +1

      Actually that hopping is not them playing along thats the literal reaction to this you are literally bouncing off of them it gets really complicated on what's happening

    • @dwddindin

      Do some more research on it you get an idea of it but not what is actually happing it's not a force against force kind of thing it's more an internal fa Jing kind of thing

      Kokwah Tan nobody ever said that push hands is sparring. Push hands is just one aspect of taiji that teaches you how to listen. The fact that you do taiji and don’t know that tells me you are learning a trash system. Don’t feel bad, I’ve been there before.
