  • Me and my Dad decided to go Railfanning since we haven't in a long time. We went to Claymont Station for the first time on May 4, 2012 between 3:15 and 6:30, It was a pretty good station except for I-95 making alot of noise and throwing us off sometimes lol. We saw alot of action and a few things at one point there were 5 trains within 20 minutes, plus stuff i haven't seen in awhile and even never seen! Sorry for the camera noise and shakiness, my tripod kinda sucks.

Nice catch with that equipment move! Those trains were hauling it around that turn!

Track speed through this area is 105mph on 1 track (the one you're filming from) 125 mph for Acela trains and 110mph for everything else on 2&3 track(the inside tracks) and 110mph on 4 track.. The reason why the SEPTA trains are going so slow (as you put it at 4:43 ) is the tracks reconfigure just south of where you are standing. Basically, the track the southbound SEPTA is on comes to an end at that signal bridge in the distance (It called Holly.) You can see the Limited Clear signal at 4:48

What speeds would you recon they're going? I'm creating a NEC line to Wilmington and passes through this part of track.
