    Quick Tip:
    If you want the mirror ball effect but don't have a motor or place to hang the ball properly, you can just set it anywhere, then hit it with a mover or a scanner with gobo roll + gobo rotate and the effect is basically the same as a spinning mirror ball, on it's better because the shapes of the reflections change with every gobo and you can control the speed of the light with the speed of the gobo roll and rotate.

    Thanks BSR. Great ideas, looks like you could also put multiple lights on the pole too using that method. As always, I'm still practicing and, most importantly, enjoying (= You making the videos and posting them so often, really helps keep my motivation to be a DJ up during the down times of the year. Thanks so much for that. If you ever get down to Memphis, the barbecue is on me (=

    Thanks for the mirror ball info. By the way, instead of a clamp, an even more secure method would be a reusable zip tie. They have a release tab that allows you to remove them without cutting them. I really like your method for compact mirror ball deployment.

      I've never heard of a reusable zip ties, thanks for that comment, I'll look into them as I use them for a variety of things

      @@GreenCanvasInteriorscape You should be able to find them online, at Amazon, or locally, at most DIY shops. I also use a fair amount of Velcro strips for lashing cables to masts, without having bits of plastic zipties poking out, that could go into an eye, if placed at head level. :)

    I like the idea of mounting a light with an O-clamp. With that clamp, I could have additional mounting options, like the mast of my speaker stands.

    i just put a gaggle of broken pieces of geodes together using clay as a base . its spherical, not quit a perfectly round discoball shape, but its close enough. im trying to figure out proper lighting for it so this helped a lot. the geode ball puts of great shapes and colors. kinda like looking into a marble held up to light. i need better lighting though. green laser pointer works good but i think i killed some off my vision trying to position it right on the crystal,. so this helped. thanks

    Does the light have to directly hit the ball for it to shine? I got lights in my room already but I want a disco ball. I was wondering if it'll still work. HELP?

      I just hung one last night with indirect Lighting on it and looking into getting the motor that he described here, unless there's light shining directly on it it's not so impressive, nothing like what he got with that green light

    Hey Brian, great video as always. Question: Have you done a video on how to place light stands around the room properly (for pin spotting, pattern lighting, etc.)? If not, would you consider making one? Thanks!

    Quick question Brian. What do you pack and transport your mirror ball in? Does Arriba have a bag for a 12 inch mirror ball?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  8 лет назад +1

      Yeah a 12" mirror ball fits right into an AC-125. That's the most versatile bag from Arriba. In the old days, we used to keep it in the original box with bubble wrap or whatever we had
