Very nice approach. Margin for error is much smaller than any normal straight in type approach but nothing there seemed “dangerous”. The captain’s performance was something to watch. I hate to give the public the impression that anything we do is dangerous, when we train so hard to make a flight as safe as possible. What you see here is a well trained skillful crew flying like professionals during a difficult approach, well done guys.
I think, what's considered "dangerous" is not the approach itself or the execution of it, but the environment of the airport degrading your options in case there is an error and increasing the seriousness of any error that might occur.
Look out the right when they are at 200 feet. The side of mountain is just off the wing. This is a high altitude, short runway airport and you understand the technical ability. They are flying a big slow to respond airplane.
In the bigger picture...there really is not that many aviation accidents. These wild landings are happening daily, several times a day. Great job fellas!
5:21 - The way that captain cut the power just before touchdown and then the reversers, LOL, I love this guy. Pure fucking confidence. And I mean that with admiration and respect.
I saw that the co-pilot worked the instrument panel in coordination with the pilot, AND when his job was done he rested his hands upon his knees out of the way. I would trust this crew to the ends of the Earth!
I know zero about flying but the silence is telling. Co pilot and pilot working together without words just amazing. As others have said I would fly with these guys any day
Hello! Nice one! I don't think Autoland is possible for such approaches, right? :D Did it have some sort of electronic guidance... localizer? Or is it pure visual?
no, there's no guided landing in Paro. Only cloud break approach which doesn't even lead you to runway, just to generality of airport. They usually fly to VOR at around 18000ft which leads pilots to airport and assess if airport is visible. Pilots 100% handfly for the rest of approach. Then continue to descend until 10000ft into valley, before making a U-turn while descend to 9000-8000ft until they are in line with the river. Following it till visual with yellow roofed temple then making the famous turn into Runway 15. No ILS, no Localizer just pure visual into the runway
Please forgive my ignorance. At around 3:00 it looks like we are banking right, but the first officer's ground/air display thing appears to be indicating a left turn. What have I misunderstood here?
It's an artificial horizon. It is indicating the angle of the hotizon in regards to the plane. The blue portion is the sky and the brown portion is the floor. Since the plane is banking to the right, the floor/horizon appears to bank left.
I love flying this approach to Paro in a simulator - flying through the valleys between the mountains is brilliant, but can't say that I have been able to nail the landing yet.
Thank you very much ! Best Paro cockpit video. It would be great if you could teach us the parameters (altitude, speed, FCU mode ) you are using for your approaches and takeoff so we can practice closest to reality in our simulators !
I have done this many times in FSX and using the PMDG 737 800. I don't think I have got it right yet. Oh, I can get rubber on the runway, but it would not be pleasant for the passengers or the airframe. Very difficult landing
Same here. I made a few wrong guesses. You can usually see the run way markings by 400 ft. I watched it again just to note where at what point I could see the runway.
@@Capecodham yeah the ND is the navigation display with speed tape altitude tape, attitude info, and a bunch of other stuff, its right in front of the pilot. The ND sits to the the right of that (captain side) with nav data and a ton of other stuff
Would have to be a bit balmy to fly this procedure in any sort of obscuration(s), bu it seems a little hyperbolic for the aircraft's systems to call the crew mentally deficient.
This man's flying skills are simply magnificent! Bravo!
yes, this is skills pilot, dangers landing, pilot supers!!!
Amazing! I didn't see the runway until just before they landed!

One heck of a hell landing approach! Salute to captains.
Congratulations, impeccable maneuver of pilots.
That is just absolutely insane!

Your videos of landing at Paro airport have impressed me. You've just earned another subscriber here.
Thank you. 🙏

That airport is a challenge for general aviation aircraft. These guys are awesome.
Wow! This for sure is not for rookies, good job! Nice done
ok... i know ZERO about planes, trains, and automobiles.... but i can just tell that was a SICK and FLAWLESS landing!!!
based on your expertise, yeah?
Dealing with terrain and needing to make a fairly blind low level turn at low speed? Great skill set shown by the pilot!
Great landing. Respect.
BRAVISSIMO!!! Congrats from Roma, Italia!!!
Great Job guys. Greeting you from 🇩🇪

Did not see the runway until the last 10-15 seconds before touchdown. Great flying.
@3:11 did i see the copilot say a prayer! nice job.
Well done! Not a pilot but just observing you must have been experience to pull this one off...
All I can say is WOW!
That was a trip !!! Excellent flying.
It’s just a damn video and my heart is pounding 😳
Fantastic approach views, and a top gun landing!
In the end, even the computer thought it was a bad idea lol
That’s what I was thinking. The computer obviously felt that the pilot was mentally challenged for landing there. Lol.
God bless and thank you to our skilled commercial pilots and airline industry.
god isn't real.
WOW, this Pilot is amazing !!!

Holy crap,,,,that was skill.
Yeah, that wasn't hair-raising at ALL. Skillfully done, Cap'n.
Good job
Amazing skill this guy, and these guys, have. REALLY impressive.
The plane wasn't impressed, it was calling the pilot a retard.
Gosh why are my hand shaking? Lol. Beautiful job
Wow, that was impressive!
And stupid card tricks are impressive to 5 year olds. Big deal.
In daylight that is..... can´t imagine any other flight-conditions!!!!
There are no other flight conditions.

Made this video so that PFD parameters can be seen clearly. Hope this helps.
06:44 Да он перелетел посадочную то! И жестковато посадил..))
The last left turn is just by feel?
So why was the airport built in such an awkward place? I saw plenty of flat land before the V shaped valley.
He definitely want them reversers out 😂
Are you able to go around here or are you going on the ground, landing or otherwise, after you commit?
very cool!
I could see going in there with a STOL or helo or maybe even a fighter but an airliner? Who chose that as the best place to put the field?

I could nail this landing with my mavic air 2 drone. Just put all my sensors on and no problem.😁

Far out is that from the other end of the runway. This very short final preceded by a banking turn and before that flying right next to a hill!

This direction seems to be harder than the other direction. Much tighter left turn here.
It is. Runway 33 is more forgiving than 15
incredible, People !!!
At 200 feet, his right wing was a bit higher than normal, but he corrected nicely and nailed the landing.
And that gentlemen, is how we do that.
