- In January 2021, Barry Gibb and Tim Roxborogh spoke for over 90-minutes to mark the release of Barry's acclaimed new album Greenfields. 30-minutes of that conversation played on Newstalk ZB in New Zealand on January 8th with Tim releasing a further 30-minutes of audio to RUclips on January 20th. In this second instalment of exclusive extras and off-cuts that weren't broadcast in the original ZB interview, Barry and Tim talk about the following:

Good GRIEF! I had to click on this because of the photo. It's so striking- I didn't even care that I couldn't see the interview, or that the picture never changed. He's just mesmerizing...and at the same time, he doesn't/ didn't show arrogance about his looks and talent. That's amazing to me....and it adds to his attractiveness. I also love that he doesn't have a trash mouth-- sounds like a gentleman.

I couldn’t agree more. The most accurate description I ever saw of Barry was from a newspaper article. It said “Barry evokes a centaur. His long glossy mane and glowing equine eyes, that Roman nose with its great horsey nostrils and those piano-key teeth shining above an endless jaw just waiting for a bit. He looks like a stallion, of course, which means he bestrides the planet as he pleases. In those outsized eyes burns the flame of shrewdness and constant energy. Barry possesses the voice of an angel.”

The reason Guilty was not maligned at the end of the ‘disco backlash’ is not only Barbara’s voice, but Berry was so stunningly gorgeous, men wanted to be him, women wanted him.
And most important, the Brothers Gibb were sharp, coming off massive success of fever, were confident in their craft, and were on - point creatively. Stands the test of time.
A lot of their success in making albums for others was due to Barry being a musical genius. Robin & Mo only contributed to writing half the songs on each. Barry wrote or co-wrote the rest, made demos, sang all backing vocals & did duets, and produced them with his production team. Without Barry at the helm, there's no way they would've been some of the best selling albums in history.🎼

I'm probably not the only one who listens & writes down the songs you mention to go buy them.
Also, absolutely love his humor and he was always giggling. All brothers Gibb had great humerous personalities !

Hey there, it's 2023, so I'm super late to this interview and the one before it, but I just loved it and want to thank you for the thoughtful questions you asked Barry. I'm 53 and just became, truly out of the blue it feels like, a huge Bee Gees fan this year. I didn't even see the documentary until this year, after I became completely riveted by all things Bee Gees. I appreciate your insightful knowledge of the Bee Gees catalog and your insight into specific songs and the way you were able to bring out deeper answers from Barry. Thank you especially for asking Barry about Living Eyes, when I came across it for the first time and listened to songs like Don't Fall in Love with Me, Living Eyes, Paradise, and Nothing Could Be Good, I was absolutely blown away by how good they were, on so many levels. To me (and I don't know all their albums, but I'm working through them) Living Eyes is the most sophisticated, soulful, and beautifully written of all their albums. The brothers were at their most dashingly handsome on the cover, overlooking the city skyline at night, Robin and Mo in tuxes and Barry in all black. Living Eyes is just a masterpiece among their masterpieces like Maine Course, and I'm only sorry that because of what was going on at the time behind the scenes it didn't get the air time and spotlight it deserved. And, it is sad to me that I've never seen them play any of the songs from Living Eye's live, except for one clip with Andy introducing them on Solid Gold when they sang Living Eyes to children, it's a very sweet video. -Barry mentions in the interview that Robert Stigwood picked the singles for their albums, and I wonder if he would have gone with, He's a Liar? We'll never know now... but if I could have picked, I think I would have gone with Living Eyes or Paradise. Anyway, thank you again, it's a real treat to hear an interview from someone who knows and loves the brothers as well and as much as you do.

Some of my favorite celebrities smoke, which I don't love, but Tom Hiddleston and Barry Gibb are so smooth and the best interviewees.
Barry quit smoking long ago. As did Robin and Mo. It’s not good for a singer to smoke, it ruin their voices

I’m so glad he can’t be happier. That makes me happy to hear. Barry deserves to have some good things come his way. He and the Bee Gees and their music mean everything to their fans.
I was born in 1970, so I was too young and oblivious to know what was going on with the Bee Gees back then. But I’ve always been a fan of the Bee Gees’ music. But I’m actually more of a fan now. I’m one of the people who are truly discovering them now. In my case, just truly paying attention, finally, and getting to know all about them, and digging in deep. And I’m doing my work to convert others, too. It’s not hard. The songs speak for themselves.
It seems like there’s a Bee Gees renaissance among younger people going on right now, and I love to see it. I think, finally, the Bee Gees are being seen and appreciated as they always should’ve been, and I hope Barry sees it.
I only wish I had paid more attention back then, and that I could’ve gone to a concert. 😢 .
Anyway, LOVE these interviews! Thanks for posting them. I just adore Barry. He seems like the greatest guy, and I truly have the utmost respect for him as an artist and as a human being.

From their earliest videos, Robin always craved attention, while Mo & Barry were there to just sing. Robin had that need his entire life, always wanting more attention than his brothers.

Did smoking change your voices or cause Robin’s cancer? It was during the seventies that the harm was covered up, I’m on oxygen now.
He quit years ago. His mom smoked for ever and lived to 94. Linda has smoked since her teens, still smokes and seems to be carrying on🤷🏻♀️Its a mystery.
I smoked around my two kids so they were exposed to second hand smoke until they graduated. My son never has smoked and is disgusted to be around anyone who smokes. My daughter is a stress smoker, only smoking from time to time. Never around anybody and always outside.
