I have soldered wires together, but I've never soldered on circuit board until today. I followed your sequence exactly. The laptop came apart nicely, went back together nicely. You have to really watch how you disconnect and reconnect those ribbon cables, but anyone paying attention will be fine.
I got all the stuff, flux, a roll of .6mm solder, heat tape, etc. And my Acer A515-54 laptop's power port is back to 100%.

My Mother broke her charging port on her laptop and my local repair places didn’t “do that sort of repair” 🙄 Anyways I watched your vid multiple times, got the supplies, practice first time soldering on a scrap piece of circuit board I harvested from an old electronic something or other (was in my craft scraps box) then dove in!
It worked! It was terribly exciting haha. I also replaced her charging cord cause she must have fried the previous one when she broke the port, so anyone who does the repair and their laptop doesn’t light up when you replug in, get a multimeter and check the cord too!

Before anyone jumps to replacing their charging port PLEASE CHECK! If you have a USB-C with a solid line and 3 dots under it next to it YOU CAN USE THIS TO CHARGE! I have a mac charger plugged into my Aspire 5 A515 to charge as my charging port is faulty!
Good for you, unfortunately Aspire 5 A514-54 doesn't have it. Still a good info regardless.
@@leonardomariano3288 that’s a shame it’s not on your model. Mine is the A515-47. I’m surprised Acer haven’t moved away from their current charging port as all it seems to do it break and cause issues.
why so much extra stuff that doesn't seem necessary to replace the dc port.
