Great review, I'm a working man that likes nice things, 😃 took your advice and bought villeroy and boch. Never hard of them and so happy you lead me to them. Thanks again!!😁
You are welcome. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy your new purchases.
We have Georg Jensen cutlery, Vivianna in stainless steel. I think the older pieces are over 20 years old, some are under a year old, we use them every single day (as we do with our Denby dinnerware). We never put the knives in the dishwasher, as this can damage them. Ours are marketed as 18/10, I know from my Dad (who was a metallurgist before retirement) that the cutlery (knives) are made from a different stainless steel than flatware. Flatware stainless is less prone to rust, but softer, while cutlery stainless is slightly more prone to rust and harder, so it keeps an edge better. This (according to my Dad) is a sign of quality - It's easy to test, as the knives are magnetic, while the forks and spoons aren't.
I haven’t heard of Denby in a while! Solid plates! I put my normal knives in the dish washer but not my sharp cooking knives which I handwash and professionally sharpen once a year.
Your dad is right!
Quality always serves you well!
@@SoAnesu According to my dad there is some sort of chemical process that can happen in a dishwasher due to the different types of metal. My parents cutlery is about 60 years old and still going strong!
@@danishpastry6137 comments like this make my day! Here is to many more years!
I've just discovered this channel. It's really useful. Please keep the videos coming.
Thank you. I will do.
My first set was a oneida Michaelangelo 1810.
I saved up for months. Must've been around 10 years of age.
I would set up my set every night for dinner.
Man,i was young and naive.
Now i touch nothing but 925 or superior
Oh lala you have expensive taste! Oneida was a good starting point because when you upgraded you appreciated first hand the jump up in quality and craft!
This is the video I needed! I lived in London for a while and experienced their silverware, which is nothing like what I have seen in the States. Thank you for making this video! I haven’t gone through your videos yet but I hope you have one on fine china as well!
Good to hear, thank you for watching.

Great advice Queen 👑 A ❤️ I have a few quality stainless steel pieces from Robert Welch which I love and highly recommend 🙏🙏 Keep up the great content x
Thank you! Robert Welch is a sold mid tier brand.
Thank you for your video. I would like to know more about the advantages and disadvantages of using stainless steel versus silver plate versus sterling silver for day to day use.
Good question! I recently visited the Odiot showroom in Paris. I think the answer will be of interest to others. I’ll squeeze in a video in the next few weeks.
thank you so much for this information ! you explain everything so well !! 18/10 it is
Thank you! Thank you to you too for watching.
I'm using Ricci Argentieri for my stainless and Tiffany's Audubon for my sterling.
Love your channel.
Tiffany’s is literally a one stop shop when it comes to all things silver!
Thank you.
@@SoAnesu I was fortunate enough to get the Tiffany sterling from my partner! It was in his family for decades.
Good old heirloom a testament to quality right there! May you enjoy many fine meals with your cutlery!
Thank you for sharing. I've been trying to find the answers for a long time online and all these articles were not informative. Want to invest in good quality cutlery.
You are welcome- thank you for watching.
You cannot go wrong with good quality cutlery it’s an investment for life.
This is an incredible video.
Thank you.
Great video thanks. Having looked at the Grunwerg range, the prices seem incredibly reasonable. They look great too. Is there anywhere that stocks the cutlery in London, so I could have a look at them?
check Nisbets
I’m obsessed with a spoon. The top or head of the spoon looks like it is deep set with a point at the top, any ideas?
Sorry - no idea.
Thanks for sharing such good content! I wish I could curate a full trusseau to you, and come back to a properly curated home ❤
Thank you for watching it!
You are too kind I wish you were close by as I would take you up on it.
Hello! Thank you for your advice!! What about WMF and their Cromargan Protect technology?
You are welcome.
WMF is an interesting one the technology is amazing but I have heard of rust issues and the lamination / coating peeling off but one can’t help but wonder how the cutlery was being looked after. I would take the gamble if they had a style I like but with anything i would definitely make the effort to look after it after having paid so much... and considering you want it to last a lifetime.
@@SoAnesu Thank you!!
I was actually not familiar with Odiot so thanks for the tip.
You are welcome!
How about the brand legacy silverware I heard there good and royals use it but I’m not sure
It definitely looks like a good brand…well made, good quality materials and classic design - go for it!
You've mentioned nice flatware can be used a lifetime and even passed on. Based on online articles, people seem to suggested plated silverware lasts around 20 years. Would you kindly clarify this position and if it plated silver flatware really only have a life of around 2 decades? Thank you.
It’s all about quality. Superb quality I’m talking brands such Odiot, Hermès, Puiforcat and Christofle for example will never have an issue. Their silver plated or sterling silver will tarnish (darken) if it’s not used but once polished it will look as good as new. 20, 30, 40+ years you will pass it on to your children and children’s children!
Would you please recommend some options in gold, Thanks.
Odiot, Carrs and Christofle have options in gold.
What happened to Wallace. I love grand baroque. These companies listed does not list baroque on their site
Unfortunately I don’t know what happened to Wallace.
I am loving your channel. Don't you think Degrenne Paris / Guy Degrenne should be in the mix?
Thank you.
I don’t know, possibly but as far as possible i try not to recommend brands I haven’t seen or touched. I’ll be in Paris later this year and I’ll put it on my list of brands to look at.
@@SoAnesu It is an under-the-radar brand in the US and Canada. I've had my 18/10 set for over 20 years and it still looks great. My dinnerware is V&B!
Degreene Paris / Guy Degreene coming up as French manufacturer of high-end yet affordable flatware, plateware, hollowware, glassware & buffet for the Foodservice & Retail Industries. It’s available in the US but not a US but European brand.
I’ll check it out in Paris.
Can’t go wrong with Villeroy and Boch - good choice!
I was in France last weekend, in a restaurant, looked down at the cutlery and it was Degrenne Paris!
@@SoAnesu What a nice surprise. Glad you were able to experience it.
enjoyed the video, but your audio levels are all over the place... dialogue is super quiet and the music over your intro title card is about twice as loud.
Good to hear.
It’s a video from a couple of years ago I’m learning on the job and making tweaks as I go along thank you for the feedback.
@@SoAnesu I introduced my wife to your channel and we've been really enjoying the content together! we've just bought a new house together and the info you provide has been really useful in planning what bits we need. and we've started getting used to quick draw hitting the "mute" button when the title card comes on now! :)
Awww that’s lovely.
Lol best laugh of the week! That’s the spirit!
also "Schiavon" is in the top
Yes flying the Italian flag highly.
People new to money :)
You got it!
No, It’s what people with old money have been buying for generations. She’s just explaining it to us.
Georg Jensen
Too late, I just bought Juliska $98 per place setting. I think it’s the Bistro
A video from 3 years ago is too late 😣 enjoy your purchases…
@@SoAnesuI guess so🤣 only the brands you mentioned are probably timeless!
@dhrtiwalter8670 you did good. Bistro is a timeless design too and it’s more than 18/10!
@@SoAnesu😅 (whew) I put a lot of time into it! Thank you for let me know either way! God bless you!
the music is loud....
Turn it down!
Never buy for your childrens inheritance. Times change, tastes change and 99% of the time it’s sold when you pass on.
That’s a generalisation. It depends on the family and circumstances. It can work and be appreciated and yes in some cases, no.
I just inherited my grandmother's silver. Although it is not my preferred taste, I would never think of selling it. I plan on using it daily as I slowly build my collection. I hope my future kids or grandchildren will also appreciate them when they get older. My grandmother's silver holds memories, ones I hope I can also pass down.
@loonapoona731 Bravo what a wonderful thing to happen to you. Please enjoy it and look after it for the next generations.
