    Such an underrated take! There’s only a few people who just does Karate full time, and not everybody wants to have hands of stone. But having the strength only comes with benefits! As a kid, I struggled with hanging from monkey bars, so learning grip strength early is quite beneficial.

      It's always so lovely to hear from sensible people! Our hands need to be strong enough, and that means something different for everyone. I am so grateful you watched this video, in spite of it looking so red and from despite my best efforts. It looks like I filmed it inside a heart valve 😂

    You may also buy two plastic jars with protein powder. Eat that powder and fill with some sand and you'll have a pair of plastic nigiri game that won't break when slips out of the grip.

      Our protein powder jars are filled with concrete - sand is definitely much easier to manage!

    It's nice watching your channel again. It's taken me a long time to choose a style and to train at a dojo instead of at home alone. My daughter and I going for our orange belt tomorrow and our next kata is Saifa. So I'll be learning a lot from you guys 😊

      Ah, it's so nice to hear from an old friend of the channel again! I am so glad you found a dojo - training at home is great, but combined with a dojo is best. Saifa sounds right for this part in your journey. Which instructor/federation did you join in the end?

    I LOVE the nigiri game! I work them out every time I hit the dojo for at least 10 reps prior to class, and the traditional shikodachi walk with nigirigame in each hand

    Great comment regarding day to day interaction with other people! Karate knuckles really can be alerting for someone or might be considered as a sign of inner agression. May be bad for business.

      Your handle brings me great joy, @IronLeprecon!
      Definitely, and especially for those of us who make our bread and butter off children's karate. The last thing we want to do is scare off parents!

    If you train Ji-lik and understand that kata like Sanchin kata are meant to be trained slowly under intense, constant, dynamic tension you'll cultivate the tendons in the hands, fingers, arms, joints, total body.

    which system of Goju are you doing or from? since Myagi Sensei the Goju students all went their own way with slight variations.. so whos lineage are you from .. E.G. Meibukan or some other.. I am USA GOJU if you also wanted to know..who in turn comes from Yamaguchi Gogen Sensei....

    • @GojuRyuKarateCentre
      @GojuRyuKarateCentre  8 месяцев назад

      Ah, that's a great lineage! And its so nice to hear from people who know what they are talking about ;)
      My lineage comes down the Ei'ichi Miyazato line. In my short 18 years of karate, the three federations I have joined have all had Jundokan lineage, as has my husband (though he has been training for 40 years!)

    Never muscle! Always tendons! Once you understand? Muscle doesn’t give you power! Tendons give power and speed! Not saying strength training isn’t good for in general! But not going to help you in regards of good technique!
