Watched in anticipation of my own DIYWC white explorer GMT kit; armed with your experience and demonstrations I feel very ready to get on with it! (I've already bought a blue GMT chapter ring and blue rotor with which to mod the mod...) In addition to my thanks for the video, thank you for mentioning prostate cancer; the more it's talked about, the less the stigma, the less the reluctance to check. I have several friends who've dealt with prostate cancer and are, happily, doing fine in the aftermath; I do hope your experience is the same.

I've seen a few posts on reddit about bluing hands and other parts on an induction cooker. It was brilliant and you can control the temperature and the color much better and also stop at the other colors.
Basically you need to use an induction cooker like any other time but just put the parts and screws in a compatible pan and the parts will heet up until you get the desired color. The screws dans in the pan because of the magnetic fields and it's interesting to watch also. When the color is right you just need to cool the parts (pour water) and stop the induction cooker.
It's so much easier than the blow torch method and there's no need for copper shavings because the screws get themselves heated from within by the cooker.
You can also do multiple screws at the same time and get even results on all of them.

Sounds like a good theory as long as you have an induction stove which I don’t.

I had the same problem when I built a watch for a friend from your neck of the woods. That second hand was tricky and I was assembling a normal nh36. I couldn't say it was the movement as much as the hand stack. Like you said the second hand tube is very tall. Like you I just kept working on it time after time and finally it all came together. Strange that you had the same problem with the nh34. I was using handsets purchased from Aliexpress. I'm sure that's where everyone gets them. I find most movements the pinion sits lower and the tube is a little more open so I can without being big headed sit a second hand on more or less first attempt. I just have a technique for it. This one just would not sit where it should resulting in holding the hand and pushing at the same time which feels odd and for anyone trying for the first time that would be difficult and could lead to breaking a hand.
I watched another tuber try to build this same watch, okay he does not have the skill I do but he didn’t even watch their videos because the dial washer went on the dial ! And then he put the hands on all at the same time then broke the heal of the second hand , twice.

@@junk9636 all of their kits come with hand levers. I think there might be a difference between the premier and normal kit but I’m not 100%
With this GMT I told them not to send me the tools as I already have them from previous reviews.
Thanks for watching digital Casio is being filmed now. Proper 1980s watch!

On what basis? Seiko tolerance is +40-20 seconds a day. This watch can be regulated to be better but I would highly doubt a Seiko on the wrist would achieve 8 seconds a day. This video was not about me regulating it was for what you get out of the packet. People buying this kit will not have a bench full or tools and most likely no timegrapher.

Not enjoying these sales videos Michael. There are far too many on youtube

    • @MyRetroWatches
      @MyRetroWatches  Год назад +2

You dont have to watch them! I included this for the reasons I state in the video. for some they want to get into the hobby and don't know how or think they can't. I am not sure if you watched the video or not.
This product it worth my effort to produce a video as I want to inspire as many people into the hobby as I can. This product is a good way into it.
I have my second channel for sponsored reviews and reviewing my entire collection one by one so you wont really see much sponsored stuff on the main channel anymore.
Also just to note I do not get paid for this by any review I have ever done. I can make 5% commission on sales. Some of my videos can take 10-20 hours to film and produce and YT ad revenue may pay me £30-50 depending on the views I get which is normally quite low.
Would you put all that effort in from your own free time for such little return? I am doubtful. You have to allow any channel to try and earn something if they are to continue to be committed to produce. I will not do YT membership or Patreon as I feel RUclips is free for anyone to watch my channel included. If people watched all the adverts and didnt click skip we could earn more but the reality is no one does that.

@@MyRetroWatches Fair enough, sorry you clearly did not take the comment in the spirit it was intended but I watch, enjoy and learn from your usual output and no, I don't have it in me to produce videos of this quality or indeed poor quality.

@@johnpenny2328 apologies John I was not in the best of moods earlier on. I thought I still made an interesting video and with some struggles thrown in for good measure.
Like I said before it’s why I setup the other channel to do more reviews and keep this one clear.
That said I bought a jewelling tool from china that I want to appraise on the channel. Not for them but for all of us!

@@MyRetroWatches No apology needed Michael, I will continue to watch and enjoy 99% of your videos . The chinese tool wii be interesting, I note there is also a budget staking set on ebay. The hobbyist market certainly need an alternative to the eye wateringly expensive pro' tools. Onward and upward mate.
