@@ameliagreg6566 Interesting, thanks for your comment, I'll try and track that down. Have you noticed that Rajiv doesn't seem to wear a wrist watch, I just realised that the other day.
I almost didn’t watch this one because I never really cared for Staffordshire. What was I thinking? This is one of my favorite videos. I love listening to you speak about beautiful things, and I am so tickled by your ritual with your friend. The parts of your life that you share are full of rituals. Is that why these everyday experiences appear so fulfilling? I may need to change my mindset. Lastly, when I saw the Jesus figurine, my first thought was “oh my.” 😳 I’ve never seen a Jesus portrayed like that and it gave me quite a chuckle.

Rajiv, thank you for introducing topics unknown to younger generations. I've had a store for 34 years. There is so much wonderful 17th, 18th, and early 19th century product showing up on the market at a fraction of the price compared to the late 80s and 90s. We're close to one generation since the massive shift in taste that happened at the Millennium. The pendulum is swinging back thanks to videos like this one.
this channel is becoming one of my fav places on the internet - soft paced, no aggressive music, genuinly passionate human talking about things I didn't care before and I care about now - it feels like it slows my brain down and make me feel joyful about life (big claims!), thank you!!
The lamb reminds me of the final scene in Sense & Sensibility where Edward (Hugh Grant) is visiting Elinor (Emma Thompson) to confess his love for her & he grips the Staffordshire lamb’s foot on the mantle of the fireplace because he’s feeling so awkward. Such a great scene! Thank you for sharing about how these were made & their history. Interesting!
I grew up with sexy Jesus statuary everywhere, it was a treat as a youngster and waited for the cloth to fall, although it never did, but still an icon I remember as a boy. Thank you Rajiv!!!
Rajiv please more episodes about antiques I could watch you all day talking about collecting and antique. Please do more of these. Thank you . Big fan from Washington State.
Hi, as a regular watcher of your wonderful channel, i would just like to say i am from the UK Staffordshire, these figures are very collectable. And as you are probably aware, this area they are from, is known as the “The Potteries”, we have Royal Derby. Royal Doulton, Wedgewood, Spode etc. Around the 1970s there was a demise of many of the companies, due to manufacture of pottery from China. However there has been a revival in home made pottery, and business seems to be doing well locally. Your collection is beautiful x Children as young as 5. Or 6 use to fetch, carry, prepare raw materials, and provide power to a few machines, very tough i would say
I have a large Staffordshire spill vase and good friends think I’ve lost my mind for loving it. Btw, here in Scotland, the dogs on the mantelpiece are called “wally dugs”.
Raise your hand if you immediately went to eBay while this video was playing in the background 🙋🏻♀️ so glad you finally found Jesus, Rajiv! I hope to find him someday, too, he’s so coy.
Oh how I love love love love your videos!!! I am learning so much!!!! I am a Christian, but I respect everyone’s free will to be able to choose. Thank you for being transparent and honest in your videos. I’m looking forward to your next one !
So educational and I love the story of Katrina the Antique Dealer taking the Staffordshire Dogs off the shelf and doing a layaway plan for you. I was raised a Chistian and still am a Christian and I think that unique Staffordshire of Jesus is fine too.
I've collected Staffordshire for almost 40 years. It was the history of the pottery that made me purchase my first set of King Charles Spaniels. I have so much of the pottery that I no longer buy a figure when I find it. I have many figures from the 1700's. Most of the older pieces were painted by women and children.
I'm so sorry you were sad and offended. I wonder what is going through the minds of all the people who write to me each week trying to convert me to Christianity. I wonder if they ever think that their letters make me sad and offended, that the beautiful religion I come from, and practice, is many thousands of years older than Christ, and is deserving of respect too.
Thank you, Rajiv. Yes, indeed, respect goes both ways. I love the fact that you brought up your religious belief and stood up for it. I had to stick up for Jesus too, and that is why I left a comment. You are a talented man, and I do admire your work. I wish you all the best.
Thanks for this. I LOVE Staffordshire, and have bought quite a few at auctions. Nobody much cares for them anymore - and I can usually pick them up for about €20. I know a pair of antique dealers who made quite a business out of selling Staffordshire to American collectors. They were PRICEY, and very collectible in the 90’s….but they tell me that the day after 911 - that market folded up forever. Suddenly there was no room for charming ceramics from the UK? I am so grateful to you for explaining “spill vases” - I have heard the name, but had NO idea what they were made for? Wish me luck - I left a bid on a big Napoleon figure at an auction in Northern Ireland last week. Hoping to bring him on home…I have the perfect spot on the mantle piece, just waiting!
Thank you for sharing! My collection is blue milk glass and I love nothing more than sharing my treasures and taking delight in someone else sharing theirs. The history of how people adorned their homes is such so fascinating to me as a reflection of the time in which they lived and is so much more honest and authentic than art and architecture, which I also love but those things were more like PR on a grand scale and not a true reflection of the simple beauty of everyday life. If you ever come to L.A. and fancy a few hours of tea, tasty southern treats, and enthusiastic treasure-sharing, drop me a line! (I’m sure accepting invitations from strangers is at the top of ever RUclipsrs to do list, right?)
Love the little ladie's story, I certainly will look at Staffordshire pottery in a different light, I used to see the spaniels and think oh no, not those ugly mutts again!

When I was a very little girl....now nearing my century....I used to help my mother to make spills. Winding newspaper tightly around a steel knitting needle, sliding it off and then tying it into a knot. These were used to make the fire. My best friend is from Staffordshire and most of her family worked in the potteries. I remember when I was a little girl (a while ago now😂) nearly every house you went into had Staffordshire figures of some sort on their mantle pieces. That’s so sad. If you only knew Who He Really is…. You’d see Him in a whole different way. And that way would be so mind blowing, so all encompassing, that you would focus on His flesh in a much different way. You’d realize that He allowed His body to be crushed on the Cross, for you and for me. Jesus is not offended by your comments. He’s brokenhearted. Because He knows that you’ve missed Who He is, and He misses you. “The creator came to His own, but His own did not know Him.” One of the saddest lines in the Bible.
