    This video is the first part of a series on survival and bushcraft: Yannick (Foxscout Survival) and I went outdoors for 72 hours without any water or food supplies. Spending three days outdoors, we did only eat what we could find in nature and practised our survival skills. Join us to see which wild edibles we could forage and how we got through this experiment. Hopefully this experience gives you an impression on what to expect in such a scenario.

    That was a pretty well made video, I appreciate the effort you and Yannick did in making this (Yannick can sometimes be really hard to work with haha). I learned bunch of new things, especially the info you gave on the herbals and how to extract them. I also like how you talk in your videos, very informative, using the right words and very confident about what you say. Good luck in your channel and life, hoping to see more of your videos soon and can't wait for Pt.2

    Very good video Ralf. Any crayfish in those creeks? I love Spruce tea, dandelions are good also. Thanks and take care.

    • @RathwulvenBushcraft
      @RathwulvenBushcraft  4 года назад

      Hey Quinn, thanks for commenting. We actually do have quite some American crayfish there, they're invasive and kind of reduce the population of European crayfish due to a disease they carry. We left those be for two reasons: We have no permit for the river Wupper, and the water is still very much contaminated due to the heavy industry in this area.

      @@RathwulvenBushcraft OK, sometimes they are in the small creeks. Is Wuppertal on the river? I worked for Bayer for 25 years. I was in Germany in 2006, Bielefeld. I went to Berlin also. Take care.

    Sehr gut 👍 Lehrreich, sympatisch und eine tolle Idee mit der Gegenüberstellung von Bushcraft und Survival. Dein Englisch ist klasse, einer der Wenigen (wenn nicht sogar der Erste) dessen englische Videos ich auch gucken werde. Ich freue mich nun auf die nächsten Teile und die Fortführung mit weniger Ausrüstung. Ich selbst wähle mich zum Lager der Bushcrafter, versuche aber möglichst gedeckt / getarnt unterwegs zu sein, in die Berge zieht es mich auch nicht ;)

    Very good video keeping it real and kudos for all that camera work. I would have chosen a different sleeping setup in the forests most of all on sloped terrain because I totally agree with energy conserving and getting rest as much as you can. Really like the respect for nature part.
    I understand you want to make a difference between bushcraft and survival. I'm just not sure if I agree but have to watch these other two videos to judge that.

    • @RathwulvenBushcraft
      @RathwulvenBushcraft  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback - about BC and survival: Both are different topics by means of definition. Crafters thrive in nature whereas survival simply is what it is: Pure survival.
      Then again survival and bushcraft skills go hand in hand. :)

    • @stevanoutdoor
      @stevanoutdoor 3 года назад

      @@RathwulvenBushcraft Indeed the difference is in the mindset and the goal. BC is getting into the forest and survival is getting the hell out back to civilization or getting rescued. The tool- and skill set stay basically the same.
      After watching all 3 videos I sure say this was an exercise in survival considering the fact that you had to push yourself in a short period of time over a longer distance to reach extraction. ;) And you both did good.

    Mushroom on the tree was chicken of the woods cotw the elderflower becareful there is some poisonous look alikes if your not sure, the pine shoots needles can be used to make a tea as well plus if you strip the pine bark you an eat the inner soft white bit , love how your running the experiment, I would have taken the water personally, borage you can also eat the young leaves,

    This was a great video. I do have a few questions though. One, why did you just take the roots from the garlic mustard. The leaves are quite edible. Then, you only ate the roots from the burdock not the leaves. Last, why are you not trapping or snaring animals for protein? Overall, still an interesting video guys. Thanks.

    • @RathwulvenBushcraft
      @RathwulvenBushcraft  3 года назад +2

      Hi Chris - thanks for commenting. In regards to the first question about garlic mustard: They are of no nutritional value given that they mainly consist of fibres and turn woody quickly. The same accounts for the burdock - in addition, burdock leaves tend to upset the stomach. The leaf stems can be used like rhubarb for sure, but in such a situation I am not wasting the little space in my stomach for plant parts which are low in calories and nutrients. Especially after some days your stomach shrinks to the size of a tennis ball - then every calorie counts.
      In regards to trapping or fishing: We explain that in detail in part two. The short story though: This was a simulation - so game was neither a necessity nor worth the effort. Also because in that area, legislations are rather strict regarding poaching. I have the respective licenses in my home area but didn't get a permit there unfortunately. Besides that, poaching is never an option.
      Have a good one!

    • @Chrissvarietychannel549
      @Chrissvarietychannel549 3 года назад

      I guess I think more in a survival mode. Fishing in our country would not be poaching. There are seasons for wild game but there are many animals that are not restricted here, birds, mice, raccoons, possums, groundhogs, chipmunks and many other animals. Again, I speak from a survival perspective. And I might not eat the burdock leaf in quantity but I would eat the garlic mustard leaf in quantity. Just an observation. I’m in the USA by the way, when is part 2 ?
