Greetings from Australia. I have been really enjoying your videos but especially this one. I loved all of the cards, but the one where you applied the glue randomly and added the foil was my favourite. I am going to make some of these today. Thank you Marion.
Marion: I just love your personality! Your humor is contagious, you crack me up!!! I NEVER would have put the white and eggshell together but it worked. When you put the gold on top it added even more to a beautiful background. You are just so darn clever! Thanks for demonstrating the "iron on foil" technique. Once again, something I would have never tried! You've made a believer out of me (and a subscriber - lol)! Your cards turned out wonderful! TFS
From watching so many videos, it is my recollection that you do want to keep the protective sheet on the top and the bottom of your jelly press, and store it flat in the clam shell that it came in. Additionally. If when you put your gelli press down before you start to use it -- start setting it down on the bottom and gently lower it down to the top being mindful not to leave any bubbles in it. Bubbles on the bottom underneath your press leave impressions on the pulls that you make.
Hi JoAnn, I’m going to do that, I think it’s where I put it flat down and that obviously got some air bubbles in it, I’ve watched a few vids on this since and different people tell you different things, I like the idea of keeping the plastic on it, as a protection, I’m taking your advice 🥰🥰
What a great video, new subscriber here! The trick with the glue stick, brilliant!! And why did I not think to use an iron on the die cuts..??!! They were a bear putting through the laminator, used temp glue to hold them to a paper sheet🤣. These die cuts are the greatest invention, pretty, varied and there are tons in those small bags. I bought through CraftStash-US here in the states. Will look forward to your foiling master class….hoping it won’t focus on the beyond my budget hot foiling plates that are all the rage right now…. Thanks so much Mari, they really are great, if you do want to use them in a laminator, put them on a scrap piece of card, that keeps it nice and stiff, I use the Heidi swapp carrier sheets, but still put a bit of card in. No I won’t be focusing on the hot foil plates, they’re lovely but oh so expensive !!! I’ll be sowing some simple but effective things you can do 😍 thanks so much for the sub 🥰🥰🥰🥰
The die cuts would be nice to have for sure. As for sentiments, fortunately I have a laser printer so I can do my own on that. Lovely cards, the gel plate is a fun tool for sure 😃 tfs
I haven't used my Gel plate much either but like to play, one of the things I've done is instead of spreading the colour before adding the next I've just splodged/dotted different colours then done a soft brayer so they don't mix too much, I also don't clean my plate between so then you still pick up bits from the previous take plus any of the textures left behind, can get some great effects.
Fun to watch. I have a gel plate (untouched). Not even sure how I ended up adding it to my craft room, but your video is inspiring me to give it a try.
Your backgrounds and cards turned out so lovely! It gave me the idea to get out my gelli plate out when my grandsons come to visit next month. They will have a ball with the plate, paint, a brayer, and cardstock. I will probably need to buy a second gelli, though, since it will be had for them to share when they see the fun! I love the color combinations you shared!
hey say store your plate in the package it cam in but I have an acrylic plate from Clarity stamp that my plat lives on, inside a sealable bag then store it on top of my stamp files so it is flat, works for me on my 3-4 year old plate! I new to gel printing and I read you should keep your gel plate covered with white card stock instead of the plastic cover that comes with it. It’s supposed to stop that marking you got.
Great video, I didn’t realize you could apply foil with an iron, I thought you needed a fancy foil machine. Thanks for sharing, so now I can go spend more money. LOL The cards look Great!
The marks on the gel plate could be from how you put the protective sheet back on. If you put it on with air bubbles and then put it away, those bubbles leave marks on the plate. Oh no Chris, ask for it back 😜😜 I actually just tried it on my silicone mat I got from SBC and it worked !!!! It wasn’t as perfect as a gel plate but it did work !!! ❤️❤️
My guess is the chunks of odd debris that you are experiencing as you spread out your paint might be coming from the top of your paint bottles. When you open your paint bottle if you take a paper towel or a wet wipe and clean off the opening and the cap of your bottle you can get rid of any dried debris that might later fall on your press.
Just a thought since I have foiled one panel only ever. But could you put a piece of cardstock or just copy paper under the flowers or pieces to foil, do your iron with parchment and slide it off onto your cutting plate from your die cut machine and run it through the same way you would for a die cut to get the pressure while the foil is hot? You’d have to use more of that big table but maybe that would help.
