It does take on some creative liberties here and there, but overall? It's on point in the sound department, and the attention to getting everything to look right is phenomenal.
The only two things that gets me is the BoS essentially be8ng the F4 variant, despite it being set on the west coast, and ghouls needing some kind of radiation drug.
But other than that? It's pretty dang good.

However being that the basic look of the Fallout world and tech looks like the 50s, but it is actually in the far future. I was always confused about the 1950s look of the beginning of the games, always felt like the bombs were dropped in the 1950s. Then the game took place in the far future. Fallout 4 takes place in the year 2287, ten years after the events of Fallout 3. Fallout 4's story begins on the day the bombs dropped: October 23, 2077.

This show ended up being way better than my wife and I as huge Fallout fans had hoped, and the fact that they made an original story set in the Fallout universe rather than try and adapt one of the games line-by-line really was a smart idea - it avoids the direct comparisons and also gives fans something new to experience. The executive producer, Jonathan Nolan (creator of Westworld, brother of Christopher Nolan), and the lead writer, Graham Wagner, are huge Fallout fans and their enthusiasm really shows in the finished product - they also did as much practically without CGI as they could, including building a 2 story vault set. Regarding Todd Howard, he was mostly hands off and served mostly as "lore keeper" whenever folks had any questions about timelines or accuracy of stuff and to make sure they didn't conflict with the upcoming Fallout 5.

Part that I thought was super cool: Some of the articles I read said that this show is supposed to take place right after Fallout 4.
At the end of FO4, I could have sworn the Brotherhood people said they were taking the airship back to the west coast.
This show starts, and the brotherhood is talking about how their brothers are returning from the Commonwealth, then the airship shows up.

    • @sholartc
      @sholartc 2 месяца назад +1

The airship in Fallout 4 is the Prydwin. This airship in this show is the Caswennan. I suspect this was built from the remains of the Prydwin due to what Caswennan means(it's the bank Arthur crashed his ship upon.)

I've always been under the impression that the "future" shown throughout the franchise is how someone in 1955 would have imagined the future at that time. Just the same as how the steampunk genre is the way someone in the late 19th century might have imagined the future. The average person would have only known about the power of the atom for about 10 years. All the magazine articles and TV shows proclaimed it as "the power source of the future" and talked about how it was going to revolutionize society as they knew it, hence all the atomic cars and trucks they imagined would be common in 100 years. Though I've always found it ironic that while they may have figured out how to give a vehicle a lifetime supply of "fuel" they still came up with a design that depended on getting regular fill ups of "coolant" at your local Red Rocket.

    • @laigron7884

That basicaly is that. They use atomic energy and didnt discovered transistors because they didnt needed to. They have nuclear fusion. So everything is still going on vacuum tubes. And that is why most of the things are like that. Ilove Atompunk of Fallout.

I am loving the series and although I never played the games myself (I may be changing that in the future...), I did watch both my dad and my husband play them for hours on end. Ghouls are made from excessive exposure to radiation. Feral ghouls become so when their brains/bodies become so irradiated that they lose their humanity and become creatures of pure instinct. So it goes from human to ghoul to feral ghoul. You can see above the grave of the ghoul in this story he has 2 IV bags with orange medicine going into the ground. That serum is to help stabilize him and prevent him from going feral.

Great reaction sir, I would like to recommend the show Justified, starring Timothy olyphant and Walton goggins, who played the ghoul in this show. Sort of a modern Western. Thank you for your content.

Fallout 76 is now good and has a great community. Worth checking out.
I've watched the whole show and was deeply impressed with how well they captured the look and feel of the games--and pleasantly surprised by the story and acting. (Also, the sound design is outstanding.)

The setup of this show reminds me of that old show Jericho but nukes went off here and there but nobody had to hide in vaults they just kept trying to survive and no time jump you just find out more about what happened and people trying to survive each other no mutants lol

In some ways, that beginning (well, ending) with the family party and everyone just going their merry way ignoring the protagonist is reminescent of how (non quest-giving) NPCs act in computer RPGs... lol

So like the belt clip phone holder but a wrist strapped Pip Boy that you just snap the ol phone onto and it clicks into place? Like a life proof case? Patent it or I’m sure Amazon has it. Then you can safely walk around NYC on your phone. Unless they snatch your whole arm. But then some tech will be invented to read people’s info from the iPhone somehow. If you invented both you’d be a very rich man or woman.

I'm also a fan since fallout 3 as it was my first intro to the series and New Vegas had just come out at the time. Really happy they decided on an original separate story instead of trying to copy one of the games.

76 is way better than when it first came out, and free to download and play through April 18th.
Also they are releasing a next gen update, with new DLC, for Fallout 4 this week.

Man, you gotta go back and play the Classics from Interplay! Fallout 1 was REVOLUTIONARY. During a time when the biggest computer games were 60-100 MB's, Fallout was over 700.

The CG is really well done in most all of it. Though I think what really makes the show feel more real is just how much stuff is pracitcal. Unlike a certain Borderlands movie coming out this year which is mainly CGI and looks awful.

Elder Scrolls VI is coming at some point. Apparently it'll be the first Bethesda game with a new engine as they retired the old one with Starfield. But they already said Fallout 5 isn't coming until AFTER ES6...so we're looking at probably close to a decade before we see it. But there's also been persistent rumors of a Fallout 4 Remaster for current gen systems...so it's something.
