    Great video and I pretty much agree with everything you said. I have the 2019 black and gold and done 3500km on it. I too had same issue with the seat post and still not that happy with it, wish they had used the fix transfer post on the build. I have really ridden this over some pretty intense trails in Oz and this bike hasn't missed a beat. Yep would possibly shorten the cranks and I cut half an inch off each side if the bars and its a much better bike for it !! Also avoids the many tree strikes on the tight stuff now. I swapped out the seat more for the comfort on longer rides (100km). I have a second battery which I carry in the camelback :) an extra 2.4kg for longer rides or rides with a lot if climbing. I generally ride in eco and trail and rarely use boost. This is my second ebike the first a Scott 930 and pure and simple upgrade for better components and the merida is so much more bike for the money. As for the integration of the battery I actually think the external shimano on the merida is better than the integrated shimano battery on the Scott. For the same power the integrated is approx 0.5 kg heavier and it was a lot harder to remove and swap it out. So looks aside I actually think integration actually is a negative thing. Anyway just my thoughts on an amazing bike. BTW at these kms I am just looking to do my first chain replacement and my rear pads are getting close to needing a change.

      derek harper it's a great bike. Will be interesting to see if they upgrade for 2020. I have just swapped the dropper for the Fox factory, it's perfect & finishes the bike off. I also changed to the E7000 controller, simple.

    • @derekharper6031

      @@BALDeBiker hahaha, that's exactly what I did re the 7000 switch. Fitted it on the left and now allows the dropper lever to fit on the left too :). When the dropper dies again, I will be doing exactly what you have done and put on a fox unit ... Yeah not sure what they will do for 2020 but having a battery accessible and not proprietary built in has a lot of advantages IMHO.

      I am on the edge of buying one and it seems the best deal with my comparisons. I am just worried about the e8000 noise and the resistance after 25km. Thoughts?

    Fantastic review. I've owned one of these bikes for 1 year now and I agree with all of those comments you've mentioned. I would also add that if you run your battery dead flat then you also lose your gear shifting. Once the display starts flashing red, turn the ride mode to off and you will have enough power for the derailer, to get you home with gears. It would be better if Shimano would allow enough juice in the battery to give you 100 shifts to get home. The chainstays are also a little short if you're a tall rider. Would like to see 10mm chainstay length added to the larger frames. Electric rear derailer is nice but unnecessary and is just as vulnerable as conventional derailers that do the same thing. Would rather they up specced the Reverb actuator to the paddle type rather than that awful button. Great bike though.

    Fitted the 2.6 Maxis tyres front and rear.
    I am sure it’s made the bike more responsive and
    Seems a bit easier to pop the front up over stuff.
    Not sure if it improver the rolling ability , some reckon it does.
    Don’t notice any deterioration in grip levels either

    So I've now had the Merida eOne Sixty 900e for 8 months & thought it would be useful to give you a long term review of what it has been like to own this bike. Been all over Scotland on it & covered over 400 km so far. Its a great bike with great components & I only have a few things I would like Merida & Shimano to change.

    Hey BB, how many Ks have you done now? Mine is coming up to 1500 and I have had a few things come loose but then it has seen some rough trails. Rear cassette, dereulier hanger and battery holder. All have been tightened with loctite. I think you have V2 which has 203mm rear rotor, mine was 180, 35mm rims, mine are 40mm, kmc 11e chain, mine was kmc 11el and ebike Fox 36 folk, all good upgrades.
    Im ok with the battery, just would like a backpack battery as I have run out and also to save some weight at a jump park ie 150wh. Im still planning on trying a 29er front to slacken the head angle and run a 2.6, so just a 30mm rim. I have changed saddle, bars, stem, grips, crank arms, tyres, pads, 203mm rear rotor and chain. If the 29er front wheel doesnt work out I may go 170 or 180 front fork depending if i try a 29 rear wheel too. Im trying to find better feel and grip in the corners with the extra weight. I only use mine for steep up and downs, my other bikes can take care of the flatter tracks. Glad you are still loving it...I have met plenty of riders that bought the 900e from my vids and they arent all old or fat lol..

      Hey MidLife, now done about 800k. Bikes holding up well. Have changed the tyres, pads, grips, seat. Its going in for a service soon so will see what else needs swapped! Let me know how the 29er goes. I think the 160 fork can be extended to 170 by those who specialise in fox forks. A 180 would be amazing, tried this on the kenevo on a downhill track. We should get a bonus from the bike guys for supporting their sales lol. Still loving the merida & interested to see what they do with it for 2020!

    Hi, Can you tell me what size bike you have, and your height and leg length?
    I'm 5'10" (178cm) with 32"(81cm) leg, not a really aggressive rider, and torn between the medium and large.
    cheers

    • @BALDeBiker
      @BALDeBiker  5 лет назад +2

      So I'm 5' 7" & I tested a small & medium. I went for the small as I wanted to move the bike around, although the medium would have been more stable on downhills.The geometry on the merida is generous. My view is that the medium would be a good fit. But if you could test ride both that would be best. Its a great bike!

    Hi mate, great vid. How does the bike feel/respond when the motor cuts out as you pass the 25kmh?

    • @BALDeBiker
      @BALDeBiker  5 лет назад +1

      Ryan, so uphill its not really an issue on the single track & the motor provides the right type of power options to get up virtually everything. Downhill you don't feel it, it gets you moving quicker & then gravity kicks in. As the bike is heavier it feels more planted & I probably go quicker than on my standard bike. Where you do feel the motor cutting out is on the flat roads, fire roads etc.. you can still peddle beyond the 25km but there is no support so you feel the drag effect. No big issue for me as its far quicker uphill, downhill & on most fire roads than I would have went on my standard bike. Plus you could always derestrict the limiter if you wanted to :)

    I am looking at an ebike. This with the 800 are on the list. Just trying to justify the extra cost of the 900e

    • @BALDeBiker
      @BALDeBiker  6 лет назад

      your mainly paying for the upgrade in components such as the brakes, the suspension & the Di2. But the 800e is still a great bike. Have fun choosing

      @midlifebiker7424 5 лет назад

      Not sure where you live John X but in Oz we have a 900 and a 900e as well as the 800. I still think the 900e is best bang for buck but if you prefer Lyric fork etc the 900 is a close second.

      MidLifeBiker Hi midlife biker.i ended up with the e800. Very happy with it. If I get more involved It is upgradable with DI2 ect

    • @midlifebiker7424
      @midlifebiker7424 5 лет назад

      @@joh1959jmw Di2 is great. Other than being trouble free and set and forget, I find having the gear indicator really useful on the screen. Some ppl prefer the 6000 switch gear other the 8000 so if you do upgrade may be worth considering. Welcome to the dark side of ebiking...😉

    How many km before you have to replace the battery?

    • @BALDeBiker
      @BALDeBiker  3 года назад

      Obviously you can recharge the battery & generally I would get 50-60km+ on a charge. Not sure yet the full longevity before the actually battery needs replaced but probably last 3-5 years depending on the amount of riding.

    • @BALDeBiker

      If you keep it in eco you will get over 50km. How much more depends on the trails, rider weight etc..

    • @BALDeBiker
      @BALDeBiker  4 года назад

      @@FFF104FFF Using a mix of support around 30-40km. Full boost mode for the whole ride will obviously be less. I find on a mixed trail with decent climb I can get about 2hrs or so worth of battery & more if I use eco more.
