I can't adequately express how helpful it is when creators share not only their triumphs but particularly their struggles _and how they learned from and resolved them._
Definitely want to follow your comic-making journey! Liked + subbed 😊👍🏾

Thank you. 😊 I recognize that frustration. It's like you reverse engineered how to do it.
I'd recommend Scott Mccloud's "Making Comics" and reading listening seeing anything about cinematography.

I appreciate this video a lot! I definitely can now see where I’ve ignored some red flags of my own, and noticing them and realizing how to fix them makes me more motivated to work on my own comic again!
But something i think that could really benefit you is to pick up ‘manga in theory and in practice’.
I’m assuming you are aiming for a more western process of things, but this book has so much golden knowledge for working out stories I’d really recommend giving it a read.

I think a part of the pacing/storytelling is paneling as well. If the panels aren't properly leading the readers eyes it can cause confusion and be very unclear where you're intending to go

Working on a project now that I’m older. Had some schooling and talent in my 20s but went a different direction. The creative side sleeps but is forever restless when not realized, eh?
I recommend in a video like this that you do direct comparisons to “Before-and-after” storyboards with the flushed out character designs demonstrating both the visual and narrative bridge you are seeking to achieve.
Do this and you instantly elevate the video’s value.

Oh JB, how frustrating! BUT! (And I speak from Exp here) time like that is never wasted. Thinking about your art is never wasted time, either - were you still here when Dad used to walk up and down, muttering to himself and gesticulating when he had a piece to write about the Labour Market Survey or other economics stuff, digging down into the statistics? Seeing how you make your comic will be really interesting!

yeah, you gotta at the very least do thumbnail sketches. Also, I'd advise to write short descriptions and dialogues too in case if you'll forget what's happening in the scene

Yeah, writing notes, reminders and descriptions are VERY helpful. Great point!

good video but it would be great to explain why some of these are actually red flags. Why is throwing loose sketches into a page a red flag? Why is lore Olympus a red flag? At the end of the video. you say you should have researched the market better. How? what did you do wrong? what would you do differently with the gift of hindsight. what is the difference between thumbnailing and storyboarding?

Awesome questions! I'm working on a follow-up on this video that'll give more clarity (hopefully!), as I'm close to releasing the comic in question

Some tips I learned from Neil Gaimen about his process was this:
    1. Outline your pages - For example if you are writing a 16-page chapter then list out the number of those pages and the decides what happens on certain pages. You don't have to fill all of the numbers so long as you get the jist, you are good.
    2. Script - Now I think I might switched up the order, but personally, I script at this point so I know what is going specifically in each panel.
    3. Sketch - Sketch out what you want the page to look like. I don't particularly care about how the panels look, just how many there are and if my dialogue can fit comfortably. IT DOESN'T have to be pretty so long as you understand whats going on the better. If you can clearly read these panels right now, then they will translate very well in the final product.
4 Pencil - Pretty much as it sounds. Pencil everything out and start really defining those panels.
Note: I don't color or do any fancy lettering as of now. I too am just starting out, so I am trying to keep things simple as to not burn myself out! However there are many other artist who post their processes on youtube! I highly recommend looking at them. Remember what works for others might not work for you, do what saves you the most time and feels right.
    5. Ink - Any final changes must come now. Adjust that character pose a little, move some background objects. Tweak- but try to not redo.
