As a Catholic listening to this is jaw dropping. Basically whoever is better at social media can move the needle on what truth is? It is capitalism for truth based on views?
Deception is deception. People with power will always lead people away from Christ with ignorant or malicious ideas, whether inside or outside the church. For example, the Catholic Church used to let people “pay for their salvation” when they had a power monopoly in the Middle Ages. Imagine how many people didn’t find true salvation because they were given false hope. The truth will always prevail though because it’s unchanging.
@@BenjaBis as usual the truth is a little more complicated. The Catholic Church never changed their stance on this. It never changed truth because they were more popular. I don’t believe truth always prevail in Protestant churches based on the fact many say the others are not saved based on baptism or interpretation of Eucharist. There is one truth and always has been one truth. The German Catholic Church notably exploited indulgences during the late Middle Ages, with figures like Johann Tetzel selling them to fund projects like St. Peter's Basilica. Martin Luther, in his 95 Theses, didn't condemn indulgences but criticized their misuse, suggesting they were beneficial if they led to true repentance, not as a means to buy salvation. The Catholic Church, while still recognizing indulgences, reformed their practice post-Reformation, particularly after the Council of Trent, to clarify they are a remission of temporal punishment for sin, not a direct purchase of forgiveness. Thus, while the Church's stance on indulgences persists, it has evolved to address Luther's concerns and prevent exploitation, aligning more closely with its theological principles. Without anyone figuring out how to exploit it there would have been no reason to define it better. Side thought: why is it always the Germans?
"Functionally affirming" is an accurate way to describe this contortionist stance he's put forth. But there's zero biblical or even scientific evidence to support it. It just feels compassionate and sophisticated, which attracts more fawning, wealthy female church members which elevates Andy's status and Sandra's, so that's his stance.
You know I wonder if at least part of the issue for Andy Stanley is his congregants. Do you think this is going to become a ‘respectable sin’ like divorce and remarriage for evangelicals?
God's word never changes. We have all fallen short of the glory of God. All have sinned, and need redemption which is found only through the shed blood of Jesus, the Christ. He said, "Go, and sin no more." The choice is ours to believe or not to believe; life through Jesus, the Christ or eternal damnnation without Jesus, the Christ. God created them male and female, no third way.
Is there an easy way to recognize truth? Is there an easy way to show something is untrue? Is it possible to have consistent beliefs about things that are untrue? Is this why there are vast schisms within all religions and god beliefs? Today let's focus on the schisms that exist in Christianity! From Catholics, to Protestants to Calvinists to Mormons...Christian beliefs are all over the map. What if the Calvinist's have it right...God has already chosen who will be saved and who will be condemned to hell so none of it matters anyway:). That is also why you had Christian's who supported Hitler and why you have Christians who support Trump now and you had and have Christians who believe both these men are abhorrently evil. You have Christians who vote to force raped little girls to give birth, vote for never ending gun violence, vote for inaction on climate change and health care costs and tax breaks for billionaires and you have Christians who vote exactly the opposite. Because in the end Christians are just flawed human beings who are good, evil and in between just like all other human beings. Now Christian's apologists will attempt to divert these oberservations by claiming it is because of "sin". But why would those who believe in christ do evil things and those who don't believe in him do good works? Why does it take the lie of Christ or Muhammad or Joseph Smith to make people who would fall naturally on the good and peaceful side of society do evil? Why do 99% of people know that Earth is a globe? Because truth leads to consistent belief something that Christianity fails at completely!

"some say 'I was born this way,' that's why they need to be born again" ~Adrian Rogers
So if I was born black? Can I be born of another color, if I’m born again?
The Church is so insanely broken that we actually have to debate this nonsense ad nauseam.
Pray
Now you know that thumbnail was making Stanley look more than affirming.
I love Sean’s shirt!
First appearance of Deadpool on the shirt, I dig.
No one is born gay. "God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes." Ecclesiastes 7:29
Do you believe people are born as natural sinners? Or we’re born perfectly with no inclination to sin?

Wait what happened?
Can someone elaborate on what Andy’s third way is and what it means?
It's based on "Love is Love" and God told us to love our neighbors. That's his stance.
