My friends dad once said, "to have a proper rock n roll band, you gotta have a piano, maybe horns, and some black girl backup singers". And that's what the Crowes added to the band to make this album perfect!
Hell Yeah!! This is one of my favorite songs from my favorite band! It gave me chills to watch y’all listen to it for the first time! The background vocals are provided by Monalisa Young and Porsche _______. Can’t recall her last name. A Couple Atlanta gospel singers who recorded and toured with the Crowes.
Definitely southern rock. Theyhave 2-3 back up singers that been with them for years. These are some big ol' girls with a whole lotta soul and sweetness that back the band up. I luv the fact that they gave them a chance to lead on this song.
Took us to church! LOL! This band is Southern Rock with a big heap of soul. They really do so many genres well. Sometimes Salvation will take you there. You can't go wrong throwing a dart at an album and getting a classic song. Chris Robinson is my favorite "rock" singer.
@Tut Dvd Touche. I'll say it had radio play, but for me it's overlooked because they have such a great catalogue of music and most people lean toward "Remedy" "She Talks to Angels" "Hard to Handle" etc., and, again in my opinon, "Sometimes Salvation" is probably their best song.
Marc Ford was the best lead guitar player they ever had (despite his own failings) He came in on this album and stayed for a few more and gelled this band for a while.
Great reaction🔥 Highly suggest checking out The Black Crowes' "Remedy" (1992) for more Southern Rock goodness. P.S. They usually have backup singers (soul sisters)
I saw them play exactly one week ago and am still pumped up about the show. The setlist was awesome. All of their first album, Shake Yer Money Maker, and then a bunch of other gems like Sting Me, Thorn in my Pride, Wiser Time, Remedy....the encore was a cover of Rolling Stones Rocks Off.
Try The band Blackberry Smoke. Another southern rock band with a country feel at times. Chris Robinson singer of The Black Crowes named them. Both Robinson brothers have played as guests with Blackberry Smoke too. Charlie Starr the vocalist and lead guitarist of Blackberry Smoke was filling in as guitarist for The Black Crowes a month ago too. Both bands based in Atlanta GA too😎
Best band to come out of the 80’s, and it’s not even close IMO! They are southern rock meets The Rolling Stones. SO many more great Crowes songs for you to dig into. I recommend Seeing Things for the First Time next if you want some “take me to church” feel, or Sting Me if you want some good old fashioned kick ass rock ‘n roll.
What a surprise that you did this one. My favorite song from one of my Top 10 Albums. I would also suggest Thorn In My Pride, from the same album. Thank you.
Wife here..Excellent selection!!..Great Southern Rock Band.., in fact my Husband and I often discuss that they were the last huge mainstream Southern Rock band..., Loved seeing you 2 digging this!!!
Great seeing ppl discover TBC for the first time! Been a fan since the beginning (90-91). They would never describe themselves as southern rock but that’s how they were labeled for the first couple albums. When Amorica rolled around in 95 the “southern rock” moniker was dropped forever. Depending on when this recording was made the backup singers you mentioned were probably Mona & Porsche. If you enjoyed this tune you should hear the nearly 20 minute version I gave on a bootleg somewhere!
This is one of their best, I’m impressed with the Crowes songs you’ve reacted to, not just the radio stuff. The backup singers on this song were with them for years, Mona Lisa and Charity. After the first album they incorporated the girls more and brought in Marc Ford on guitar and Eddie Harsch on keys and then released two of the best albums of the 90s in The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion and Amorica.
My favorite band Detroit radio stations played She Talks To Angels when my friends died in a horrible accident in the 1990’s Smile whenever I hear that song now
Atlanta preachers....You should've heard this live...'hey baby just you watch my head spin'. Yes they had a couple of ladies in the back live as well...
They are definitely southern rock They are all from Atlanta and still play a LOT in the ATL You should check out Hotel Illness from the same album Amazing
I’ll echo a couple of comments below. PLEASE react to Sometimes Salvation. It’s off the same album as My Morning Song, and probably their best album. Sometimes Salvation is soooo good and often gets overlooked.
I think you guys are the 1st ones I've seen react to this song. Awesome. There's 2 songs by these guys you should do no one ever does. Ol Sweet Nuthin cover in their Log Cabin recordings. The other brother Rich sings that one. Also their unplugged version of Wiser Time is awesome. Both are live versions.
The Black Crowes is best Rock'n Roll band of last years, please more reacts: "Jealous Again","Twice is Hard", "Hotel Illness", "Wiser Time", "By Your Side", "Diamond Ring", "Virtue and Vice", "Soul Singing"
At one point, I would have said they were too new to be "Southern Rock". That genre was in the 70's for me. They were a revival, but not part of the original sound. Now, enough time has passed that, yeah, they are Southern Rock in my head.
Southern Rock Revival with a new stoner edge. They were early and huge active proponents of cannabis legalization. They therefore gained a reputation to live up to etc...
Pretty sure they hail from "Hot-lanta" GA. But, this band's sound has one of the best "flavors" in music. I'd challenge anybody to not at least stomp their feet at a Crowes' show.
The entire "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion" album is fantastic. "Sometimes Salvation" is great!!!
Not a bad song on the album. Used to be my cleaning house album. Now I just don’t clean.
My favorite album of all time!! Always has been, always will be. Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye also my favorite song of all time
My friends dad once said, "to have a proper rock n roll band, you gotta have a piano, maybe horns, and some black girl backup singers". And that's what the Crowes added to the band to make this album perfect!
The bridge to the final chorus drop remains one of the all time greatest “build up & drop the hammer” moments in rock music
It's even better live.
I blew up my nice Blaupunkt stereo system in my old jetta to that drop when I was 17
@@afmartin2734saw them in 2006, unbelievable live performers 👍
@@Mikeyski4I think we did too
The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is an absolute masterpiece…all of it!!!
The Black Crowes are an American rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1984. They usually perform with two female backup singers.
Love ❤️ this band! As a GA native this is required listening.
Seeing Things is a great song too.
❤ 🙌
Keep doing Black Crowes..... GREAT catalog of music. You don't hear their music... you feel it.
Thee Black Fucking Crowes
I love the Blsck Crowes!!
Amen brother...
Going to Red Rocks to see them. Can’t wait.
@@amyshehi4731 they still playing? Jesús....
This whole album is a classic. Marc Ford took these guys to another level and Steve Gorman is an underrated drummer.
Steve Gorman is basically the perfect drummer! Always in time and not too fancy, just keep the groove moving.
One of the greatest albums of the 90s
They came around when rock and roll needed some saving. Blended the Stones, Humble Pie, The Faces with some Led Zeppelin. Wonderful mix.
You ain’t kiddin! 👍
The LAST Classic Rock band .. agree?
The Black Crowes have a ton of great songs. Their by your side album is filled with love songs that he wrote to his wife
One of my top 3 bands to listen to on a daily basis!
This is why I love this band. I really really like this song, and the album.
More Black Crowes please 🙏. Sometimes Salvation is a great song by them.
PLEASE let them react to Sometimes Salvation. It’s an amazing song off this same album that often gets overlooked. It’s soulful and powerful.
That's what I just posted for them to listen to.... Great song!!!
Love the Crowes! If you want to go to church, listen to Seeing Things for the First Time🙌 and Descending is awesome. Thanks for the genuine reaction!!
❤
Yes that Marc "f_king Ford. The greatest guitarist in the world. Love that man and this band
One of the best early songs. THORN IN MY PRIDE, HEY BLACK BERRY., GIRL FROM A PAWN SHOP, NO SPEAK NO SLAVE are all great too.
Marc Ford was the best lead guitar player they ever had (despite his own failings) He came in on this album and stayed for a few more and gelled this band for a while.
Mona and Lisa were a staple of the group for several years. ( back up singers from Atlanta where the Crowes are from)
Great reaction🔥
Highly suggest checking out The Black Crowes' "Remedy" (1992) for more Southern Rock goodness.
P.S. They usually have backup singers (soul sisters)
Asia & BJ, you’ll love their "Jealous Again" and “She Talks To Angels”!!!
I did that once.. they still have locked up in a stray jacket for it.
THe angels must not been Trans enough i guess.
You forget "bad luck of blue eyes"
@@kusumaedho my favorite song of all time!! Fucking amazing
Thorn in my pride... 👍
My wife and I just saw them last Saturday night in Mt Pleasant Michigan... They were awesome!! Thanks for doing this one!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I fucking love this song!

Thank you so much 😀
Great song. A vibe for sure.
What a surprise that you did this one. My favorite song from one of my Top 10 Albums.
I would also suggest Thorn In My Pride, from the same album. Thank you.
Thorn in my Pride is an awesome song.
Marc F'n Ford!!!
Wife here..Excellent selection!!..Great Southern Rock Band.., in fact my Husband and I often discuss that they were the last huge mainstream Southern Rock band..., Loved seeing you 2 digging this!!!
Now we're talkin! Real down home Southern soul music
Black Crows usually tour with several backup singers and they are featured in several of their videos.
They are on tour right now, still bringin' that southern soul to everyone!!
My favorite Crowes song. Perfect 1st song to play when you head out on a road trip.
Those first two albums were soooo good. I do have their full catalog though. Lots of good material.
This is one of the best songs by The Black Crowes...IMO.
Seen them live 4 times...so great
Yes Southern Rock, Blues, with some Gospel influences!
Great seeing ppl discover TBC for the first time! Been a fan since the beginning (90-91). This is the music of my jr high, high school and college days!!! I LOVE that you GET this music 🙏🏼😊 it’s revival music of the soul
Wiser Time, High Head Blues
One of the greatest bridges ever
Well goddamn! The Crowes are just amazing! They have so many killer tunes!!!!
I love how the guitar gets inside Asia. Touches her soul. Mine too. Great reaction.
"Thorn In My Side" or "Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye". The Robinson brothers write excellent songs. Awesome reaction guys.
Check out “twice as hard” by these guys. You’ll like that one.
Jesus, how many times have the Black Crowes just absolutely blown me away! What a band!
Watching you 2 hear this song for the first time is taking me back in time. Reminds me why they are The Soundtrack To My SOUL! BLACK CROWESSSSSS!!!!!!
The Black Crowes are Southern Rock with a Soulful Lead Singer…
Love it!!✌️💕from Ga.😉
Thanks for watching!
ive seen over 100 bands live in my 40 yrs of concerts.. and black crowes are the one ive seen the most...5 times and hoping for a 6th
Thank you for reminding me
I still have this on vinyl
And cassette
They were huge Rolling Stones fans and this particular song was structured similar to “Can’t you Hear Me Knocking”.
This is my favourite Black Crowes song and the rest of the album it's from is awesome. One of the very best of the era.
Saw them 3 times on tour! Best live band back in early to mid 90s
The Black Crowes always take me to church
MORE Black Crowes
This and Wiser time...are my fav Black Crowes songs...I do own every thing they have put out and they are all fantastic...but these two are special.
One of their best and most underrated tunes!
Sweet pick 🤘
This is an absolutely superb album! Quite possibly their best ! They are from Georgia
Oh man. What a great rabbit hole this will be....
My favorite band
Detroit radio stations played She Talks To Angels when my friends died in a horrible accident in the 1990’s
Smile whenever I hear that song now
Being a Lynyrd Skynyrd super fan I say definitely southern rock.❤️🙏🏼
Wiser time from this band is a great song I think you'd both would like it.
The Black Crowes are what you get when you take the Rolling Stones, put them in the deep south, and add a touch of gospel. Love it!!
One of my favorite songs from that CD, along with Hotel Illness.
This is a great example using backup singers to elevate a jam rock song. Thank you Barbara Mitchell and Taj Artis!
Thats a jam!
The Black Crowes are a fusion of blues rock and gospel
There's a lot of soul in this great rock song.
Black crows typically tour with two professional women who sound like they had lots of training in the church choir
The Crowes are one of the best American rock bands in history - terribly underrated.
I know you probably won't but check out Eli paperboy reed some were between I think you would enjoy it
When the album is named after a gospel songbook in the church your little sister goes to, you knows it's going to be prime Crowes!
I’ll echo a couple of comments below. PLEASE react to Sometimes Salvation. It’s off the same album as My Morning Song, and probably their best album. Sometimes Salvation is soooo good and often gets overlooked.
Please more Black Crowes!!! Sometimes Salvation is POWAHFUL but they have plenty of greats
This song is an absolute masterpiece.
I love the music
Chris Robinson and the Crowes..Damn!!... I really love that you're into it..hell yeah guys
I think you guys are the 1st ones I've seen react to this song. Awesome. There's 2 songs by these guys you should do no one ever does. Ol Sweet Nuthin cover in their Log Cabin recordings. My fav BC songs, awesome song.

Such an underrated band.
Soul Singing! The song, recommended
Uh ohhhh- Super Banger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every song takes you to church.

Southern Rock Revival with a new stoner edge. They were early and huge active proponents of cannabis legalization. They therefore gained a reputation to live up to etc...

Amorim’s is a great album too.
