The sleeper on the album is My Morning Song... I said the music got to free your mind, just let it go, because you never know... And if the rhythm ever falls out of time, you can bring it to me and I will make it alright.
The big three, SHMC, Amorica, Three Snakes, i can still play them on a loop and it never gets old. Had they not imploded towards the end of the 90’s, they would be in the same conversation as the Dead as far as their influence on the genre. Not that they didn’t continue to create great music after the nineties, however the reckless egotism and selfishness of the brothers Robinson drove all the goodness right into the ground, a daggone shame. They became a nostalgia act in all the wrong ways, but the legacy of Weird Ed and Ford and Gorman will live on on my summertime patio for years to come
I was SHOCKED to see Twice As Hard didn't even make it onto one of their 2 disc best of sets... it made one but not the other, I believe Croweology. That song is straight up Led Zeppelin, and I feel like of their songs it got top 5 radio play too. If it ain't #1b on my list tied with Remedy then it's a close second.
Huge grunge fan here. When the Black Crowes came out, it was like a breath of fresh air. Something different than what was constantly on the radio. Love this band

I feel like that was part of Oasis' appeal as well, felt like they got huge right after Kurt died. Granted part of it was a throwback 60s invasion vibe for some I reckon, but they even admitted, one of em saw where Nirvana had a song called I Hate Myself And Want To Die and thought bloody hell... and there they were singing songs like Rock n Roll Star about walking on a sunny day, and their first big song being called Live Forever, quite the polar opposite that, heh.
we generally refuse to compare SHAMC, Amorica, and Three Snakes, because they are all brilliant in their own way and desert island discs in their own right.
One of the greatest rock bands of the last 30 years. Chris has one of the most soulful voices in music. But where they really shine is live. Seriously, do yourselves a favor and listen to the live version of “Words You Throw Away” off the Shake Your Money Maker 30th Anniversary album. It’s 13 minutes of pure perfection. Love the channel guys!
These guys are the real deal. They did an entire album of Zeppelin covers and Jimmy Page played guitar. This is unheard of. Was fortunate to see these guys open for Heart, right after their first single dropped. Was even more fortunate to see them in a small.club setting, many years later. Rich the Ancient Metal Beast.
I saw them in a club that held 1,000 on the tour for this record. Also the Crowes & Page released a double cd called Live At The Greek. You can find copies of a dvd of one of their shows from Jones Beach NY on Ebay.
I am a metal head at heart but I LOVE the Black Crowes. Started buying vinyl about 3 years ago and th Crows were some of the first records I bought. They have an EXTENSIVE catalog and a number of Live Acoustic albums that are just amazing. One of the most underrated bands of all time. They should be ten times bigger than they are.
This! Same here... old school Metalhead who was raised on 60s and 70s Hard Rock. The Black Crowes always spoke to me because even though their heyday was in the early 90s when I was getting into my 20s, they were so in the same vein of what I grew up listening to (Rolling Stones, Allman Bros, Led Zep, etc.) that they were instantly embraced. They are a great band regardless of what most think. They’re criminally under appreciated. 🤘🏼
Born in Alabama, raised mostly in Texas...spent years in Mississippi and North Carolina. Southern blues-based rock is in my SOUL! Love ya'll's reaction!
Try: “Thorn in My Pride” “Twice as Hard” Black Crows have always been super grooves and awesome. Excellent musicians with piano, guitar, back-up vocals - all with great Soul/Rock/Blues mix!
Anything Black Crows is Awesome! She talks to Angels, Twice as Hard, Jealous Again, & Hard to Handle are my fav's. If you guys dive into this band again. Any of their songs would make for a great reaction video.😁
@@SophiaAphrodite this album and Amorica are a million miles better imo. To each their own I guess. I just hate that their biggest song (Hard to Handle) is a cover
Side note on that too, not only is it great writing and performances but the mix and mastering are really solid too. Lot of extra parts besides just guitars/bass/drums/vocals, got piano in there, got the ladies singing, got some bongos and stuff, lot of tracks. You can hear every person and every part clearly and individually but it still all sounds great together. Sounds good quiet, sounds good loud, sounds good played back on just about anything. Great production work.

My mom was 19/20 working as a waitress for Steak N Shake back in the day, The Black Crowes had a show across the street and stopped in. My mom was their waitress, they ended up giving her and a friend some tickets to the show. The band has some really good classic hits. Talks to angels is probably one of the top songs alot of ppl know from them

You guys truly love music...You do your research on the artist and the lyrics. Too many other channels out there are trying are reacting to viewers just to make money and put no effort. The Crowes are one of my all time favorite bands. This album is amazing from start to finish and in my opinion, one of the best albums ever recorded. So much soul and angst and joy and love and ALL THE FEELS! The band lineup at this time was EPIC with everyone at the best. Sigh. I miss them.

And ain't nothin' wrong with either.
Southern Harmony is my favorite album of the 90s, being a musician and a stoner this album was right up my dust filled and overgrown alley, GREAT PICK Guys!
The Black Crowes are a staple of southern rock. Glad you guys made your way to them. “She Talks to angels”, “Twice as Hard, “Thorn in my Pride”, “Jealous again”. There are others but those are must listens.
For an Old Head like me, Crowes are one of the all time greats. Saw them many times in their heyday. I have different playlists of their music depending on my mood or what I’m doing. Cant go wrong with them.
The wild thing about the Crowes is they dropped this at the height of all things metal and it was NOT metal. That revival was a huge deal and it's impact was massive.
Even though it does come close to Metal (to me), but of course it is really an amalgamation of everything they were all at once: Bluesy, Southern, Soulful AND (Twice As) Hard.
In those days, the cream rose to the top of the charts far more than it does now, irrespective of genre popularity or commercial marketing. I mean, Pantera's heavier follow up to their best album debuted at number 1!!!
Just a little Rock trivia for you..Chris Robinson was married to Kate Hudson who is Goldie Hawn's daughter. The Black Crowes were huge in the late 80's & 90's.
Hey Ryan, I rocked out to The Black Crowes back in the mid 90's when I was in middle school. They always played them on Alternative Rock radio stations, back in the day, with all the other bands classified as "Grunge".

The sisters send this piece way over the top!! Brilliant use of back up vocals.....the ladies blend in nice and smooth as they take right over. Nothing lacking anywhere throughout this number. Totally sticks in your head for hours!! Great reaction!
Remedy is on my list of songs that I will never get tired of. There's a documentary called "20 Feet from Stardom" that tells the story of the gospel-based backup singing groups that added so much texture to the songs of the 60's and 70's (Gimmie Shelter is a good example). Remedy is another great example of what these women could add to a song.
The first two albums, Shake Your Moneymaker & Southern Harmony and Musical Companion are solid gold material. Thorn In My Pride, She Talks To Angels, Seeing Things, Jealous Again, Bad Luck Blue Eyes (Goodbye)...you need to hear them. I stumbled on these guys by accident when I went to see Robert Plant on his Manic Nirvana tour and they were brand new, opening for him. They rocked the arena and I liked them instantly. Saw them two more times after that.
I own every album and every one is listened to from beginning to end and 9 live shows over the yrs. They are part of my soundtrack for my life. Led Zeppelin The Black Crowes T00L ...none of them have a bad song.
I subbed to you guys for your metal reactions but I would 100% listen to this outside of the channel haha. I actually recognize the chorus of this song but somehow never heard of The Black Crowes before so now I can bump it in my free time instead of just hearing it in passing.
Cursed Diamond is the most beautiful soul touching song about someone who is struggling and flawed but is a beautiful, remarkable human being. I know many people who that song was written for.
I suggested this awhile back and am glad to see you guys got to it. I knew you would love it. I had a friend back in the day who listened to only rap but loved this song when he heard it and said a lot of the same things you guys are especially as it relates to the soul. And yeah this is on my favorites playlist and one of the songs I will never turn off or skip over. You guys made me smile today with this video!!
Not only do I regularly listen to this song but the entire album. Great band and this album doesn't have a bad song on it. The band has had highs and lows but this is one of their peaks because of how good this record is.
"Cursed Diamond," "Sometimes Salvation," "Thorn in My Pride," "Wiser Time," "Soul Singing" are all phenomenal tunes for me. The live versions are almost always more intense and expansive.
Someone help me. Just checked a video on YT for this song and same problem. I KNOW when I heard this years ago there's a part in a chorus where he sings the word remedy several times in a row "I want a remedy remedy remedy remedy remedy" (not sure how many times but a several) and I cannot find a version with that (the only one I thought existed) WTF??
I loved your guys reaction to this song! Very soulful, very bluesy. They remind me of the Southern Rock bands I grew up with and am still rocking out to them.
I was working in the business when the Crowes were just signed... loved them then and listening with you guys now ... there sound still holds up... classic.
This song is good, but phenominal live! Chris Robinson and company put on a GREAT show. You'd recognize Hard To Handle, their biggest hit, but She Talks To Angels is the one. Twice As Hard, Conspiracy, Wiser Time all worth checking out.
"Seeing Things" is a bit of a deep cut, but it's A GREAT song. Really, everything off of the 1991 "Shake Your Money Maker" album is great. It's one of those albums without a bad song. Every one a banger.
That one is, in our humble opinion, the hardest one in the whole catalog to sing. Did you know that it's the legendary Chuck Leavell playing organ on that record? #staytall
@@amoricans such a great track. It's one of my top 10 all time songs, any band, any genre. It's also amazing everything Chuck Leavell has played on. He's a legend!
I have gone back AGAIN AND AGAIN to the Black Crows! They are absolutely a great bluesy rock band 🎸 with great vocals... and, yes, I’m also a huge 70s rock fan. That is the music I’m drawn to as I get older! Lol 🤟🏼🎶🎸
rocking this. every time. their debut, shake your money maker was a straight banger when it came out. and they continued and evolved with this album. thorn in my pride is my jam.
I used to play drums in a Black Crowes tribute band, which is kind of meta since they themselves are almost like a tribute band for 70's southern-blues-rock in general lol
They recorded the majority of this album over a wild four day weekend filled with drugs, fighting, strippers and a shitload of great music. This is a press play and let it stay album.
I saw these guys live back in the day when they opened for Robert Plant...the show was fantastic. I've never forgotten it...and I still have the t-shirts!
Glad you enjoyed the song, and this album is good, but check out their debut album, "Shake Your Money Maker" which includes hits I am sure you have heard previously, but didn't know it was the Black Crowes...Hard To Handle, She Talks to Angels, Twice as Hard, Jealous Again. This was more straight forward rock and not quite as much southern/bluesy as The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. I actually think "Thorn In My Pride" is better than Remedy. Check it out...
I like the Black Crows and this song! Speaking of that, do you guys ever react to blues or blues rock at all? I would LOVE to have you check out The Black Keys. They are a blues rock band made up of two brothers, one on drums and the other on guitar/vocals. They are f'ing awesome man, very soulful and those cats can rock out! Try "Keep Me" or "Brooklyn Bound".
This whole album is full of bangers. Seen em live 3 times dude can belt his voice. They give me a church choir vibe st a place that's having a damn good time.
LOVE The Black Crowes, played the hell out of Shake Your Money Maker back in the day and still turn up the sound any tine I hear one of their songs start up on the radio.

The Crowes were the very best live band of their generation. Never a duplicated show, a different set every night, and at their peak, untouchable.
The black crowes and candlebox are two bands that I feel were great that never really got the recognition
Love, love, love The Black Crowes. Agree with some other posters...”She Talks to Angels” is a real stand-out from these guys.
I was obsessed with this album when it came out, so good to hear it again! And glad you two enjoyed it.
One of my FAV Black Crowes' jams. These dudes have always had swag. Thanks for reacting!
Not only do I regularly listen to this song but the entire album. Great band and this album doesn't have a bad song on it. The band has had highs and lows but this is one of their peaks because of how good this record is.
What I love about your channel is your openness to trying out something new. Now I listen to things I wouldn't usually listen to.
More power!
Seeing Things for the First Time, She Talks to Angels are my favs....
"Cursed Diamond," "Sometimes Salvation," "Thorn in My Pride," "Wiser Time," "Soul Singing" are all phenomenal tunes for me. The live versions are almost always more intense and expansive.
"Hard to Handle" is another wickid one from them!
It’s a great cover. I agree!
An Otis Redding cover!
@ yes it happens at the very end of the song.
@ no worries. It's one of my favorite songs.
I loved your guys reaction to this song! Very soulful, very bluesy. They remind me of the Southern Rock bands I grew up with and am still rocking out to them.
Check out Jealous Again and their take on Hard to Handle. So funky.
Two great ones!
Strongly 2nd those suggestions
@@markclark6702 I'm gonna triple down on all those suggestions!
Yes to those and add Sister Luck, Sting Me, My Morning Song, Gone and Midnight From The Inside Out
Saw them in ‘92 at the Greek Theater and they played this for the encore with a light rain. Unforgettable
Chris lights up the stage, his energy is palpable.
I LOVE The Black Crowes!!!! Awesome band. Great songs, great singer, very talented musicians. I'd love to see yall do more.
The power and emotion in his vocals on this song is unmatched.
I have gone back AGAIN AND AGAIN to the Black Crows! They are absolutely a great bluesy rock band 🎸 with great vocals... and, yes, I’m also a huge 70s rock fan. That is the music I’m drawn to as I get older! Lol 🤟🏼🎶🎸
Thorn In My Pride is another beauty from Black Crowes
Their live versions of this song ROCK so much more, lots of energy.
Yes it is !
Seen them twice, both small venues and both times were unforgettable
1st Time Here!💋.....You Guys Are Pure Pleasure To Watch 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉💋
I rock Black Crowes on the regular. Timeless.
You guys had a smile on your face the WHOLE time... love it. Black Crowes are/were 🔥
Off the same album......try “Sometimes Salvation”.........it’s a perfect follow-up to this great track.......
rocking this. every time. their debut, shake your money maker was a straight banger when it came out. and they continued and evolved with this album.
thorn in my pride is my jam.
I used to play drums in a Black Crowes tribute band, which is kind of meta since they themselves are almost like a tribute band for 70's southern-blues-rock in general lol
Bobbing my head with you, guys! Blues and soul are universal!
She Talks to Angels. It's a different level. 🖤
Loved watching you guys react to my one time favourite band. I listened to them non stop for about five years.
Do you like "Sometimes Salvation" by them?
When this came out, this was and still is a jam!! Still listen to this
I requested this, and it is playlist. "Thorn In My Pride" is a another good one among many...
Yeah you let it rock! This is my favorite band, great to see the reaction!
This whole album is fire. The Crowes at their best IMO. "Sometimes Salvation" off this album is one of my favorite songs of all time.
LOVE The Black Crowes, played the hell out of Shake Your Money Maker back in the day and still turn up the sound any tine I hear one of their songs start up on the radio.
I get oddly nervous when you do songs and bands I like.
Me too. But I knew they would dig this. It’s almost impossible not to
absolutely same!!!
Totally still rocking this tune. Their whole catalogue is amazing. I rock the greatest hits album all the time.
