Im not sure he was targeted for his limited range as a singer but more for coming across as a self important prat who took himself far too seriously.The reason people found this part of the show funny and it ran the longest was because people knew craig wouldn't like it!
Just read an article saying that Craig David has just decided that Leigh Francis's portrayal of him was bullying and perpetuating black stereotypes and that the apology he made two years ago for any offence caused by his actions on Bo Selecta was insincere. Strange how he forgot to mention anything about this sketch.

Craig's a muppet, can't handle a joke... in fairness I prefer Craig of bo selecta then the real one... and who cares how he feels, its hilarious... and it isn't just portraiting blacks it's any celebrity back then got roasted by leigh simple as that... guys a karen now he's getting on but back then never said fuck all ... guys what you call a proper beggy muppet
This was hilarious but I can understand why Craig David got fed up with the mocking. Must have been draining to have people constantly doing bo selecta impressions of you. However, him complaining about it would have only made it worse. When someone does that it's only going to make people do it more. Sounds harsh but he's remembered for this more than his music because he declined as a musician, which wasn't (as he did eventually acknowledge) the fault of bo selecta. That said, he did do some good songs.
Agree totally - I would've made the most of it if it was me, I'd have done a charity single with Leigh or something, or have him do a cameo in one of my music videos, show people you've got a sense of humour at least
wish u were capable tp see the reality, craig david is one of the most talented singer all time,most of today's most being appealed singers are not just beyond the vast promotion, when it comes to sing live, they all mess up but craig
Does beg the question if Craig David was annoyed why didn`t he say something at the time, I understand on some levels because some of the sketches where harsh at times. Perhaps though laughing along while maybe also expressing his feelings of it being harsh might have calmed things down a bit.
It's funny because Craig David's original production team, the Artful Dodger, lost control of their name and now there is a completely different duo on the circuit profiting off their legacy. I think Leigh Francis missed a massive opportunity there. Imagine paying to see Artful Dodger only to get there to see Leigh Francis in a rubber mask!
