Where to get that black housing unit

3 words guys: Soil pipe cutter. Works like freaking magic and way faster than that very expensive blade. You can rent them at most fine tool rental locations.
Also, do you already have a cleanout ahead of that unit (toward the street)? I believe code requires that. That may be your next project. :)
Nice work. I'm considering doing this myself too but they're telling me plumbers...permits...BS. I think I'll just follow your lead.

Soil pipe cutter is over rated for small jobs like this. The diamond diablo blade cuts cast easy. I’ve done it a hundred times in under 5 minutes and the blade lasts for many cuts. The drive to rent the tool and then again to return plus the cost of the rental, nah I’ll use my blades and recip saw like I have for 20 years

Thanks for the video. But, what kind of plastic box are you using for the floor access? Is it strong enough to stand on? For me, that's the missing piece to the puzzle.

Glad you liked the video. That's an access box that came with the valve and it has a cover. Yes, you can stand on it, we walk on it all the time and it's quite strong.

    Great video.
Can you please provide an update? how does it work after 6 years? did you have to replace the O'rings? Ever flooded since?

Sorry for they delay, just saw your comment. After over 6 years the valve is still working fine, haven't had to do anything to it other than the usual cleaning every 6 months. Always a good idea to keep an extra valve cover handy because it can crack of you tighten the screws to much as i did soon after we bought it. The valve has been tested probably 5 times since installed with backwater and it worked every time.

Just be very careful cutting the cast iron. Make sure the sawzall doesn't buck against the cast iron pipe. If you crack the pipe you are going to be living in a world of hurt.

code is to have a sewage pipe at 3 degree pitch.

Code is 1% min for 4” pipe and Max 2% for 4” pipe👍

Yeah it’s obvious you don’t have much experience using a sawzall.
