      @@tholdrin if you're the type of player that wants to optimize and utilize every nook and cranny of the mod then sure, this contains lots of relevant info. But you can definitely use the majority of the mod to sufficient efficiency without this vid. And everything this vid says can be figured out in game with some effort as well.

    "It is more Cool down efficient to wait out the first discharge cooldown so that the second cooldown may start." Yeah but nothing beats the feeling of a world discharge followed by a second slow-mo airshot weapon throw discharge. Such a great mod, thanks for showing more of the details I was having trouble figuring out!

      I think you misunderstood the cooldown part a bit though (sorry if that got confusing). Discharging twice in a row *is still* a fully intended use-case too! What i said was you can do either method (discharge twice in a row or wait a minute between discharges) and you'll have *THE SAME cooldown efficiency* for both (neither will punish you). So absolutely do continue double-discharging if that feels cool :)
      Btw, for World Discharge, shooting something mid-air will make them explode as standard. It's part of the ability (cause it is indeed fun to do ;) ). So you dont need to spend both cooldowns for that to happen. However, if you attune yourself back to World during the Discharge slowmo and then attack again, you will do a second World Discharge and will spend both cooldowns. So you *can* do that, but you dont have to.

    I'm an unashamed fanboy of this mod and have been for a year or two. I think I'd be comfy calling myself "pretty good" at Spellsiphon, and I know most there is to know about this mod. And even STILL, I'm here watching this video just to hear Arctal talk about it some more. Favorite Skyrim mod, hands down :)

    After the first 15 hours of playing Skyrim VR with Mad God overhaul, I am still learning Spellsiphone. However, I must say that this is probably the best mod ever made for any game. While playing with it, I keep thinking about how good and complex it is. It is unbelievable that it was made by only one person and that it's just a mod for Skyrim, not a separate game designed specifically because someone had this genius spell system in mind. Thank you for that.

    Well i started Skyrim 3 days ago (i m a bit late like to wait all mods and support) , not tried this mod but will for sure learn with it + Mysticism + Adamant. It looks breathtaking big up to U cause you did it free even if most of game designer would dream of it haha

    Been using this for my first skyrim vr playthrough. It kicks ass. Thanks for the vid. It cleared a bunch of things up and let me know what to expect in the future. I imagine this working like a beast with hand gestures set up for other spells and such.

    This mod is straight up spectacular, congratulation.
    I have a only one minor complaint: in close quarters a lot of explosions and aoe dmg can happen, which isn't exactly the best if there are friendly NPCs nearby or simply because items will fly around (maybe even important ones)
    Otherwise, simply fantastic!

      The mod does include damage filtering so all those AoEs wont damage your friends. Only the drawn spells (world fireball and death ice storm) can cause friendly fire, but you can use Reshape to swap those spells to single target instead in close quarters.
      Items will get knocked around though, that is true. But i mean that's the same for any mage, it's one of the downsides of killing things with fire and explosions :D

      Yeah that long-term single target lockout was transferred over to Life Discharge's new "stasis" mechanic which also heals targets to full health. Kinda mimicing classic WoWs old polymorph/sheep spell. So you can still use it to tactically extract single enemies from the fight (as it was intended) but you can no longer use it to cheese your cooldowns to 0 during a long boss fight and then continue where you left off as the heal will essentially reset the fight to square one.

    Just discovered this mod completely by accident. I'm a huge fan of Bound Weapons game play and wanted ways to buff them to actually be useful. So I downloaded this mod and never used, forgot all about reading the book.
    Until I saw my wife playing and she had accidentally read the book and was trying to figure out what Draw and Ward were. She actually thought the spell said "blind" not "bind" lol.
    Immediately I was intrigued and loaded up a new test character... Omg I haven't been able to put it down lol. You don't just feel like a mage, you feel unstoppable. Unbelievably fantastic mod!
    My only question is how much are the bound weapons buffed by? Typically I also download mods to make my bound weapons more powerful to let them be relevant into late game and on Legendary difficulty. I'm curious to know if they are still considered "vanilla" bound weapons with some utility features, or if they're actually been buffed to reach damages like Daedric/Dragonbone etc. And if my other bound weapon mods will work with these boud versions. I play on Xbox so I tend to use mods that buff the vanilla bounds for Ordinator.

      The Bound Weapons use a scaling system that allows them to reach dragonbone levels of damage. But contrary to normal weapons that scale by you levelling and finding rarer weapons along with levelling smithing, these scale with your health. So the more you invest in health via levels or enchantments or even health buffing potions and spells, the more damage the weapons will do. When you summon one, you can open your inventory to see exactly what the current damage number is along with the damage scaling formula for that weapon type (2 handed weapons scale faster than 1 handed ones). You will also scale their damage via weapon perks as with any other weapon and via the Mystic Binding perk like the vanilla bound weapons. This is all multiplicatively stacked with the health scaling.
      Edit: mods that change vanilla bound weapon damage will not affect the Spellsiphon ones. They are their own separate thing entirely. However, they *are* affected by bound weapon perk effects. Like ordinators one that adds a damage over time effect to them

    Hi, firstly your mod is great, but I have some questions on how you actually made a mod like this. I have some ideas on how to redesign the melee and ranged combat to have a similar level of depth. My only problem is that ideas can get me to the drawing board, but I have no idea where to actually start looking for information other than asking mod authors lol.

      My suggestion is that if you're looking to redesign the game systems like this, the first thing you should learn is the scripting/coding part of it. You cant do much by just using CK without also including some form of code.
      I personally started by finding a mod that did something similar to what i wanted (Spell Chaining in my case), downloaded the source code for that mod and started making my own edits to it to get a feel for "Papyrus" (the bethesda scripting language) and get a very quick way between ideas and stuff happening in game.
      Once i had played a bit with the edited mod i started getting more and more ideas and just edits was no longer sufficient to realize those. So i started slowly learning CK and learning how the CK and the scripts work together. Then i worked my way up from the basics. I made Draw and figured out how to script it so that it could equip a different spell depending on what it hit, i figured out how to make shouts do different things depending on context. And so forth.
      Now, depending on your idea, Papyrus may not be enough, you may need to create SKSE dll plugins in C++. But that greatly depends on what you're aiming for. You can do a lot with just Papyrus though, just know that it's slow and you need to be very careful to not overload the engine with any advanced math calculations or frequent updates or both. If you're not already comfortable with C++ i'd probably suggest you start with Papyrus and see how far you can get with that.

    I REALLY appreciate this video... I got this as part of a Wabbajack collection (I needed a VR setup and Wabbajack was the easiest solution), but even with a tutorial I felt really intimidated by this before and didn't try to do anything with it...     Is there anyway to use this with the atronach stone? Have it scale off of max magicka over magicka regen? I *really* like playing with the atronach and figuring out nifty ways to go adapt to its unique pros and cons, and would absolutely love a more atronach-friendly option.

      Max magicka is weirdly enough not a stat you can scale with in Skyrim perks. You can scale with *current* magicka, but not max. The easiest way for you to play with no regen if you like that, is to zero out your regen via one of the 2 other regen modifiers that Spellsiphon does NOT use to scale. Basically Skyrim calculates magicka regen as:
      MagickaRate * magickaratemult * fCombatMagickaRegenRateMult
      Spellsiphon only scales from "magickaratemult". This means you can put any of the other two at 0 and you'll get zero regen while still having Spellsiphon damage scaled properly.
      Setting magickarate to 0 is just a simple console command: player.forceav magickarate 0. That's it, done. Your magicka is stunted and you can pick a different standing stone.
      Setting the combat mult to 0 requires you changing a base game parameter. This is not hard in the CK but cant be done via console. But yeah if you zero that out you'll get zero regen specifically in combat while still having normal regen outside of combat. Could maybe accomplish the gameplay you like while being less annoying between fights.

    Hi there Arctal, i'm at about 15 minutes in where you begin to talk about using a mix of entangled and cost free draw elemental spells. My question is that after drawing life and hitting entangle, I am trying to entangle thunderbolt or chain lightning with Life, and somehow it ALWAYS entangles with world. I did my entanglement properly with world (inferno) and death (icy spear - because we have to entangle vanilla spells, correct?) only Life refuses to entangle. I'm on xbox, side note. Do you have an idea of how i may be screwing this up? I admit I am still in the knee deep in learning the later stuff, so i'm a bit hazy on some of the different details. Thank you for such an ELEGANT, brilliantly written mod, and for thinking outside the box toward the graceful play that magic using in any configuration should feel like, while staying clean, unencumbered, and user supportive.

      You can entangle modded spells as well. Anything marked with fire, frost or shock damage can be entangled. First I've heard of lightning bolt entangling with world, that's worrying. It should only be a matter of using Entangle, then equipping and casting whatever you want to entangle, and that's it. If you cast a shock spell, it should automatically always entangle with Life. You dont have to draw any element while you're entangling stuff btw. The damage type of the spell you cast is the only thing that decides which element it entangles with. If the spell has multiple elemental damage types (like some modded ones do) then they will entangle with the first element that matches in the priority world>life>death. So a triple-element spell will always go onto world for example.

    45:27 well SHIT. I've been dying a lot because I never learned about the "charges". I kept shouting (in game and irl lol) for my weapon to summon and it wouldn't work so I thought there was something wrong with how I configured my powers 💀

    I'm stuck where you need to delay Spell Focus by casting a regular spell. I've tried before and after, with Ward active and inactive. This mod is amazing and I've already played with it for three days. A total game changer. Thank you for any advice, in advance.

      First off, thanks 🙂. As for the issue, try doing it with an outgoing spell (like firebolt), that tends to be easier than with self-target spells like Fast Healing. I may need to extend the Focus grace period by a few 100ms to make Fast Healing equally simple to chain cast.

      @@arctalmods9546 I'll try that! I was also just noticing and wondering if I did something to change the fire spell in SS, somehow. It used to be an exploding ball, larger than a fireball spell. Now it is like a flamethrower. Did I do that? I prefer the large ball of fire that explodes and am trying to revert back to that one, instead. Thank you so much for replying after so long, and so quickly. I'm subscribed and looking forward to trying other mods and any future ones you make. 🙂

    How do you make a sword attuned? The bind shout always pulls a bow out for me, didn't think ti was possible to use a different attuned weapon?

      It's a setting in the research book (under Shaping") or in the MCM. You can pick any of the vanilla bound weapon types (sword, dagger, battleaxe, bow) along with dual swords, dual daggers and the Spellsiphon-custom-made "Life Foci".

    Can you help me out? I just learned the elemental animation, but im not getting any atronachs. That fire effect from the sky also doesn't appear.
    I draw up world, use bind to get the circle, but then it just explodes when i walk outside the circle. If i detonate/bind while in the circle then also no flame atronach.
    If i hold both hands fire elemental and walk outside the circle, no flame atronach.
    Also the binding life should get me temp invincibility right? But its just 1 second..?
    12:38 for example. This doesn't happen in my game at all and im level 72 in destruction.
    I mean how do i even heal with this? With just ward? That regenerate extremely slow like a novice healing spell. Im always ending up using potions and i don't want to do that.

      Sounds like you're missing the "Binding II" unlock. Try opening that book again and making sure it's not giving you the "do you want to put these into practice" popup. Even if you've unlocked it before it's possible that you've turned it off again via the research book by mistake.

    Say can i somehow stop ward from turning into healing spell after i draw for a long time. inconvenient when in the middle of the fight my ward shield suddenly drops and turns into healing spell which doesnt help much cuz enemy usually one shots me

      You're generally not supposed to be drawing while you're warding. Or if you do, you're only supposed to do it for 1 or 2 seconds. The Ward breaks at 4 seconds with a crackling sound effect to warn you at 3 seconds so you got quite some margins here to simply stop drawing if you need to keep the Ward or stop warding if you want the drawn spell. You cant disable or change how this works no, it's an intentional mechanic with several technical and gameplay reasons behind it.

      @@arctalmods9546 oh man, got it. yeah, i find myself relying a bit too much on "shield\spear" tactic ignoring other functions of mod like binds and seals. im a returning player, forgot how to play really, but for some reason decided to play with mods which increase difficulty. so i found Ward to be particularly useful since every little thing otherwise one shots me, that's why it didn't cross my mind to play differently. But yeah , figures it's not intended to be played this way. too simple. Gotta study this mod a bit more more lol. Thx for reply btw, appreciate it !

      @@SoraJustAGuy Yeah definitely run with a lower difficulty setting for a bit while relearning the game and learning the new stuff of this mod unless you're a masochist :D. Then you can crank it back up again as you get comfortable with stuff. I generally dont recommend one-hit kill combat mods with Spellsiphon as the system is built around combinations that inherently require more hits to accomplish. If you don't want to mess too much with your LO and want more control over the difficulty you could add "Simply Balanced" as demoed in the beginning of this vid. Just reduce damage taken and maybe also damage dealt then find the perfect balance for maximum fun by playing around with different values. Just simply tweaking damage in and out provides really different experiences. I personally run with reduced damage in both directions to extend fights but since i reduce my own damage as well the battlefield remains equal, just slower.

      This vid skims over pretty much everything that the tutorial already explains so if you're jumping straight in here from a blank slate of knowledge I'd be impressed if you were *not* confused. The intention is for you to go for one of the resources under "how does it work exactly" or the in-game tutorial first. Then watch this video after you understand the fundamentals.
      To answer your exact question: I'm using the Reverse power to swap the spells quickly. Got it set to autocast on equip to i can use it by just pressing 1 button.

      @@nanquan491 The lightning in this video is the vanilla animation for the Foci. If you have a different one you have some mod affecting it. Either a lightning texture mod or an ENB that changes e.g. the "bloom" of the effect (making it less "glowy")

      @@arctalmods9546 It's weird, because my Foci lighting doesn't even look like lighting at all... it looks more like the Draw spell, like a straight line, but redone to resemble lightning a bit more. I went over my mods and couldn't find anything that would do that... vanilla spell still looks like lightning. Any idea?

    The mechanics of thismod are nutso, amazing, but the actual like...shit you can do is kinda the same. Fire, ice, or Lightning, and then just slightly different steps in doing a bigger aoe with those.

      Uhmm, you think shooting a fireball, summoning a circle that changes how you cast, suspending enemies in air that explode if attacked, summoning a meteor, creating a turret that can be detonated and creating a staggering firewall that applies a DoT and on death infection spread are all "kinda the same but bigger AoE"? Those are all just from the fire branch of effects. Dont really understand what you mean at all here.
      I totally agree with vanillas spell selection though. You shoot small firebolt, then bigger fireball, then smaller again firebolt, then bigger fireball but centered on yourself.

      @@luckylukas2282 that's a big reason why the mod contains shitloads of control effects. Create openings by staggering enemies with timed wards, distracting them with reanimated corpses, knocking them down with explosions, luring them into freezing runes, become ethereal and reposition, etc.
      Also, everything links together, the steps to summoning a "golem" has lots of useful things happening while you're leading up to it. Don't see summoning the fire one as "i need to draw world, then get the circle, then blow it up". See it as "whenever I'm done with using a circle, i get a bonus fire turret that i can blow up if the situation calls for it".
      For Life, you become ethereal (invulnerable) for a full 10s while you decide where to place it and yourself, so that one is fully possible to intentionally go for under stress. It also conveniently gives drawn death to you when the life anima pops up so you can instantly convert it to a death anima if that's what you wanted. Though death is again one of those adaptive abilities. It's not something you generally directly target, it's something you use as a follow up to another ability you also wanted to use.

    I like this mod but it can be quite the handful on Xbox. And before the PC gang jumps in, I prefer playing on Xbox. Wish there was one developed with controller limitations in mind.

      Spellsiphon was built from the ground up for controllers. I play in VR which has the same amount of buttons as an XBox controller. The Powers in this mod are all designed to be optional, you can get by with the basics without using a single one of them. If you want to expand a bit, you can get by very well with just 1 Power as well (e.g. Reverse for a spellsword or Realign for a mage). This 1 single Power you can place on long-press Bind so you're still on 0 hotkeys required. If you want 1 more, use a hotkey and enable auto-cast for Powers. Then you can press that to e.g. use Reshape and it will auto-switch back to Bind so you dont need another hotkey for that. Toggling to and from your bound weapons is all done with the shout button and if you have a Power assigned on longpress you can longpress to toggle bound weapons. So yeah, there you have access to the entire ability kit with zero or just one hotkey.
      But that's just the internal kit. You'll get the most fun with inclusion of external spells/shouts/powers but how you access those is up to you. This mod does its best to allow you to return to it easily and to navigate its own set smoothly, but it's not a generic hotkey mod.
      Luckily, XBox has generic hotkey mods of several types that you can use alongside Spellsiphon to get the best of both worlds. Grab Kontrol to get 8 hotkeys on your controller (by using LB as a modifier button) and grab Magic Utility to be able to map a whole crapton of extra spells and stuff through various creative options, check the mod page for how that works.

    Is it possible to summon your bound weapon, within the World circle, without collapsing the circle? Are there any potential conflicts when selecting Draw OR Ward in VR? I do have auto-cast for all and select my spells from Spell Wheel.
