Tried it with my rose of Sharon. Took about 15 small cuttings on 08/22/2021, dipped the tips in clonex gel, inserted them in a 50/50 perlite and peat moss mix, put them in a clear container with clear lid in a bright room away from direct sunlight. I checked three of them yesterday 09/04/2021 and there were little roots showing. I am very excited. The easiest plant I have ever rooted besides Gaura.

I am new to gardening just started a couple years ago. I am almost 50 and found Rose of Sharon 6 years ago. I live in a desert state I always forget to water plants even one day can be death here. So when I found these guys were drought-tolerant I jumped for joy. The problem is they are expensive. So I can only buy one a year. This popped up in my feed. You have solved my money problem thank you so much

I'd like to know, you did this in Sept., let's say they rooted by November. Would you then plant in the ground? Don't they go dormant in winter? if you do plant inground November, do you cover them?

Great idea about using honey as a rooting agent. Just dip in honey and place in soil?

I ordered online 2 rose of Sharon. I just received them (November 2,2023) they came in a small pot. Can I put them underground or should I leave them outside in the pot.I have them inside the house and they are losing their leaves.. I’m afraid they’re dying 😢please help. Thank you 🙏🏻

Not sure what growing zone your in but they would do better in ground then in the pots if keep outside. If I was to keep them outside I would put them in ground and mulch them to help protect the roots from the cold. I'm in the cold part of zone 7

I have been told that the Rose of Sharon blooms are edible. I wonder if the other variation of colors blooms are edible too.? I do know the squirrels like them.
