I think the lyrics are incredibly unique. Nearly every song is such a unique concept, with the way she writes her lyrics to be more conversational and in such a genius way. The Wedding Song’s verses and bridge being from the POV of herself following the breakup and the pre-chorus introducing the unfinished “Wedding Song” that is the chorus. Snow Angel in general, especially if you know the story of what the song is actually about. I Wish being her mourning the death of someone that hasn’t even happened yet, while the 2nd chorus is her dad’s POV and it instead says “take their last breath NOT in front of me?” Pretty Girls into Tummy Hurts really makes you think the girl she met in the club is the one she fell in love with that she sings about in Tummy Hurts. And just everything in general just sounds like the most honest, self-reflective, and self-aware lyrics I’ve heard in a LONG time. Really connected with me, as someone who’s also hyper self-aware
im a little sad u didnt love this album as much as i do but def appreciate ur honesty!! sometimes it feels like every one who does reactions just so happens to love everyone and everything. hope it grows on u, i absolutely love her vocals and also love the vibe of the production and the sound she has. its very nostalgic for the 2000s with the r&b pop sound. hope u had good holiday & listen to more of her music as she releases it. :)

I 100% agree. I listen to her for her vocals and for the general ideas of the songs, but I do have some issues with the lyricism itself. She is so so so talented, but I think she just needs some more direction and better writing.
I just came from ur Kanye vid and I would EAT UP a vid of u going into the deep story behind Tyler the creators Igor it’s just such a good album and uncovering the story makes it even more godly than it already is. Please I would watch that on repeat like an iPad kid with dementia lmao. Maybe even a dive into his full catalog?

willow has two meaning as the tree ‘weeping willow’ symbolises mourning and grief (other topics she’s covered in other tracks) yet she personifies the tree as someone going through those emotions and is trying to be that comfort for the aforementioned Willow character. it’s a sick way to tackle handling the subject matter of the song imo :D
I LOVE Reneé. I started listening to her in the end of 2023 and she was one of my top artist on my Spotify wrapped.... yeah. I think some of her songs have sort of an unfinished quality to them (especially the bonus tracks, if you listened to them). Like, they have so much potential-- maybe if the lyrics were a little bit more polished they would hit harder. But I love her nonetheless, especially "I Wish". The melody is just so beautiful and the lyrics as well. It's hard to listen because of the theme, though. So excited to see what she does in the future
