Small revision: I forgot to include Steady Aim as the trait that would benefit the MH when using a scope. So be sure to look for that perk if you are taking a scope! you should hit a top 5-10 list of your favorite guns or loadouts or ammo types or something. ez content, algorithm likes lists too, plus people always like that kinda stuff
Not a Walrus that’s a good idea, I think just to start of the series, if Reel wants to continue it, he should make a top ten list or something similar. Gives new players a good introduction to the guns as well. Edit: also a video about the different spread patterns of shotguns, handcanons and their variants could be interesting.
How does Dead eye/ marksman scope Smith help if it only has one shot? Also silent killer can help with the reposte. Having a silent one shot melee helps clear out grunts when sneaking up on bounty team/ compound
How does it it benefit from scopesmith when it's a single shot weapon? You can stay in sight by holding the trigger after the shot without the perk, and gain NOTHING from having it
I would argue that taking one slot of explosive ammo while using the riposte is actually a very fun and useful idea. I use it to breach and clear buildings by blasting open one of the doors with the explosive ammo and then charging the guy I know around a corner with the bayonet. Same with taking out pesky window shutters while your team-mate cooks a grenade to throw in.
Taking an uppercut paired with half explosive riposte is my main build. You can stack extra regular ammo and still have explosive for lair harassment. The fact that they have almost the same velocity is nice too.
@@chasek8216 Good idea. Normally I'd take an officer with a single-shot, but with the Riposte you've got such a good close-quarters option with the bayonet that you wouldn't miss the officer as much. I'll have to try that
I’m always seeking validation for bringing explosive ammo. Thanks for this 😂. Another useful thing with explosive is shooting into a compound and lighting anything flammable near that window on fire. I have wiped teams due to them all ending up on fire and having to put themselves out.
It also helps with finishing off hunters that conceal after getting hit for 143. Why shoot blindly into bushes/wall, when you can just fire an explosive shot? It might not hit hard, but you don't need a lot to finish them off.
There’s a couple things I think you missed because I love the Martini. Firstly hipfire, simply really tight and reliable. Second no hammer, the sparks has that huge hammer that blocks a considerable amount of your view when aiming the Martini does not. Finally and one of the most important point is that it shares the same velocity as the uppercut, so by using the Martino your training your proficiency with the uppercut and if you can use the uppercut you can use the martini
@@HomeReel Uppercut is the best sidearm no matter what you're bringing, excluding maybe medium ammo, but I wonder what they could do to tone it down a bit without making it unfun to use.
@@paranoza3573 Uppercut is just as strong, maybe stronger. Way better damage over range, penetration, ammo stacks with meta rifles, can kinda use fanning to compensate for the firerate. It's also 2.5x cheaper, which is just absurd. The Dolch needs to be cheaper and the Uppercut needs a nerf. It's easily the most overtuned weapon in Hunt right now
Really? I dislike the Martini's sights, the post feels too high and the rear sight being rounded off makes it feel less precise. The only reason I use the Sharps instead of the Martini is that the sights are better. Same reason that I use the Schofield over the Nagant Officer
@@Noilent just play it like you would a handgun, keep the sights low and then flick them up to take a shot. But of course it's personal preference, I just hate the martini sights
Absolutely true. I actually think tooth and claw is THE BEST legendary in the game, so to that point alone is worth picking a martini. And to me it’s always didn’t matter that sparks have higher velocity - I rarely do gunfights farther than 100m, most of the time it’s like 50-80 or even closer if you’re at compound. So what’s the point. And also, did you know that Martini actually reloads faster than 3 sec and Springfield slower than 2?
An important point about the Riposte is that it have a light attack quick swipe that deals 82 damage and is very fast. Most other "melee guns" don't come with that and usually have a shove/buttstock attack that deals way less damage.
This is true. A random teammate picked a martini riposte from an enemy corpse the other day and I watched him charge heavy melee attacks against grunts and I'm wondering does he not know that a single light attack from it is enough to kill the grunts? Apparently people do not know this.
Oh and once you've downed them at least one time, the martini also makes a great shotgun! Just hipfire one shot people at close and medium range, it is super satisfying ✨
I mean don't get me wrong trying to save some money the Springfield is great, and if it came with a bayonet id love it, but I don't feel like that medium ammo can reach as far??
@@Eseerrowez Springfield can 1 shot headshot out to 175m it absolutely can "reach out" most fights in this game happen sub 100m anyway and thats where the 2 second reload of the springfield whilst still retaining the 2 hit kill makes it better. not to mention the better velocity than the martini the only reason to pick the martini is the pen because you are not reaching out with that velocity but at that point you might as well just use the sparks for proper long range. Which is the martini's problem it sits in the odd middle ground between being a proper long range rifle and just being a springfield without the hammer blocking your vision slightly.
@@valkerionrides9879 the Springfield can only 2 tap up to around 75m, past that it looses its damage capabilities. It also loses its capabilities to 1 shot someone whos already been downed once really quick. It loses that almost right after 20 meters when it starts if they lose a 25, and a 50 is around 40 meters. A martini doesn't start losing damage until 40 meters. so it can 1 tap much further out. and fighting with a bit of range can usually mean that someone gets picked up again. Being able to one shot them in the chest is a really nice bonus. ITs not hard to keep 20 meters away from a target in a lot of fights. faster velocity doesn't make it better necessarily either. If you're not practiced with the speed then you still won't hit much, and there are almost no guns that match that bullet velocity. This also means that any gun you bring with you as a backup does not mix well with it as you shoot and then swap and have to deal with a much different velocity. At least the martini is close to whatever sidearm you switch to so its not like you're having to compensate much differently.
@@Eseerrowez Which is exactly what im saying by your logic the only reason to pick the Martini over the springfield is for a small niche that exists by being maybe 15-20m away otherwise just use the sparks if your fighting at real distance right? a niche that wouldn't even exist if they moved medium ammo up to 30 like it should be. the whole second part is just fluff really because its false most of the pistols are closer to 300 or below not 400 cept for the uppercut and you wouldn't really be using an uppercut with the martini you would want speed like the officer/bornheim so your compensating no matter what.
Something to note.. the martini is actually a 2.8 second reload.. which is, coincidentally, the Springfield reload speed. So if you’re comfortable with a Springfield, you could use an upgrade :)
@@itshanhan1 The screen effect you get when 1 HP is different... it's more intense, you lose more vision and the heart beat sound is louder, and if you're on top of something you'll probably die from falling trying to dodge the second shot, and the guy can also kill you with a flashbang - wich deals 1 damage - (You can also extend the 1 HP duration by using poison ammo). You can body shot with the Sparks pistol and finish the guy from far away with a 1 damage shot from a buckshot shotgun. The Sparks is far more superior than the Martini.. better handling, better damage, better suppress, better custom ammo, better sights and better headshot range. The Martini is completely out of place right now... if they put the muzzle velocity at 490 and the reload speed at 2,5s would be totally fine for me... but the icing on the cakeould be a extended variant of the Martini Henry that actually exists in real life.. here's the video at the right time: ruclips.net/video/8HeztkQ9WNE/видео.html
I think another big point is the variants. The Marti j riposte is insanely good bc it gives u a close quarters option. It's basically a cav Sabre so for the cost one one you get long ammo and a potent melee, so slap an officer on there and you have both long range and rewarding close range, especially with the extra ammo and quicker reload
For the longest time I thought "effective range" was when the weapon started experiencing damage drop-off. Not where the weapon was incapable of one-shotting to the head. The way damage works at range is still something I need to wrap my head around when playing.
@@blame7121 yes, but I'm not sure that is intuitive for new players. Also, that hover doesn't explain that different body parts have different damage modifiers.
@@HomeReel I don't disagree that there's a lot more information that they could have. Damage drop-off being one thing they could explain better, for example. Like I imagine many new players could be landing winnie shots at 100m not realizing that they're just tickling the enemy.
@@blame7121 this is exactly what i thinking when i hold the winfield When it was my first time playing I was like Comparing Weapon like springfield To winfield As if springfield is stronger to use Because when i use winfield from far away All i did is tickling the enemy And i didnt realize that
Been my favorite since the beginning, my friends don't listen to me when I tell them it's not a sparks, it creates a very different more aggressive play-style (especially on console) and sidenote it's my favorite sight and my most accurate gun for some reason so that helps dramatically why I like it so much lol.
I gave martini a shot thanks to this video and I really loved it. I wouldn't say it's crazy op, but I definitely do better with it than with Vetterli which I tried to main to no success. Also yesterday I killed more people with the riposte (ripoust? reepostee? repoast?) than with bullets lmao
Oh yeah i freaking love martini, been digging riposte for last 2-3 weeks and i love it, i can fight long ranges because i have long ammo and i can push building with it's bayonet, it is so versatile and good, also sights are top-tier
Just found this channel and wanted to say you are doing an awesome job. It's clear you understand the game well and your format and display of information is clean and relaxing. I hope more people find you because you deserve the attention.
I like the Martini because of the Riposte and the Deadeye variant. The saber because it lets me have a melee weapon with almost the same range of bomblance and it's safe to use against concertina armored and the deadeye because I can't manage scopes with a higher magnification than a deadeye.
I honestly waited for a Matini-Henry Video after the other ones and I thank you for that it came. I LOVE the Martini even if none of my mates does, I hope if I show them that video they will apreciate my love for it. Keep going with your nice vids ;)
"when was the last time you killed three hunters with one bullet?" Back in the scrappy event, I had a silenced Winfield with fire bullets to farm points as a solo, one red barrel three hunters...
I like the riposte variant a lot , I find that it helps out a lot with AI , and gives you a fallback when you miss your one shot in a boss lair push . It’s just that i find it sitting in the awkward middle ground between close and long range ,aka jack of all trades , master of none . In a compound fight I’d much rather have a Vetterli , with triple the fire rate , and if you throw on FMJ , you even get better penetration and comparable damage drop off , or a sparks if I’m looking for long range engagements. P.S. I think it would’ve made a much better suppressor host then the sparks , seeing as that one second off the reload really helps when an enemy is frantically looking around trying to find the dumbass that just missed him while he was standing still looting a corpse
Martini has always been frowned upon, but I love it. Three more things to add though that I feel are important, but not visible in stats. 1) its much shorter, when in compounds and such, aim a sparks and see just how far out the window it sticks. 2) the muzzle velocity is basically the same as a Winfield and Karabiner, so if you like swapping to these guns ever or running levering or an insanely fast Iron Sharpshooter gun, the muzzle velocity is the same. Oh its also the same as the uppercut if you like to run that as a secondary. 3) the sights... man oh man I feel like I can see much more with Martini sights, I hate the hammer and that recessed sight the sparks has. 4) this is a bonus though you did mention the riposte, its the strongest and longest melee attachment to a weapon in the game, just beating out bayonets (uses less stam too, and has a powerful light attack, replacing knife completely). Imo the Martini is the ultimate work horse long ammo rifle, the only thing it really isn't as good as is those compound to compound shots where muzzle velocity makes a big difference.
Agreed. I like both the Sparks and the Martini, but 9/10 times I'll take the Martini because I want the Riposte or the Marksman Scope. The iron sights are also just killer on it.
MH is my favourite gun, it's like it never let me down you know. And the Riposte is so great, specially since the nerf of adrenaline shot, you can kill a grunt with a single light melee attack.
I always have thought of it as a more midrange gun anyways. Plus for whatever reason I seem to get headshots more with it than the sparks (which shouldn't be happening because of its muzzle velocity). Plus, it has a cool firing sound :)
Martini Riposte is one of my favorite guns. Main reason I like the Martini over the Sparks is the ironsights. Might be my favorite sights in the whole game.
While I do believe bullet speed matters a lot, what martini does literally better than sparks is that martini is an expert when it comes to versatility while sparks is more stronger at longer distances and sniping, martini-henry is a gun that does not fear to push and challenge. Let me add that it also has really good variants compared to sparks.
Good video man! And haha "3 and 4 stars hear me now." Martini is a win for everybody. I fluctuate between high 5/low 6, and the martini is my favorite rifle in the game =D.
Huge fan of the martini, and I feel like it gets ignored too often for the sparks. It's got my favourite scope in the game (deadeye), and honestly having that stabbing stick wins a shocking number of gunfights. Rushing someone right around a corner? Hit em with the stab-you got silent shotgun functionality AND one of the best midrange guns in the game. Big fan of bringing explosive rounds on one half as well-less as a killing thing, and more as a breaching tool. Plus, since you start with so many shots you aren't totally hobbled by giving up some of your ammo.
Something people don't mention about the martini is that it shares its bullet velocity with the Winfield rifles, which are great budget options and also great for beginners learning the game. This makes it way easier to practice on the Winfield for cheap and then transition to the martini when you find yourself good enough at the game to really benefit from the advantages of long ammo
There’s one thing I’d like to add to this. You always hear with the sparks about “Oh, if they any damage at all, just hit them and they die.” Like this is only true for the sparks. Let me ask you this: Is there anything in this game that, when applied in practical scenarios, does less than 7 damage? Even less than 10? The Martini has just as much killing power in the same scenarios with still plenty of wiggle room.
I would like to point out that having slower muzzle velocity isn't just a simple "learn to lead." Even if you are perfect at leading it will bring more variabilities into each shot. It creates more opportunities for you opponent to make sudden movements.
@@HomeReel Yeah it's not unique to the Martini. My point is that the downsides of a slow muzzle velocity cannot be completely negated with skill. Because you said that the Martini would better serve you in most gunfights if you learn to lead with it. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just pointing that out.
This video made me think about a beginner loadout for me who is still new to the game. Martini Henry Riposte - Great meele tool with the light attack / Short Winnie C deadey - This gun brings flexibility with its scope and the small magazine with levering is a great CQB tool. But you need to consider that quartermaster und levering is needed, but i think thats a great combo.
I do an odd thing now where every prestige I choose a theme to go though, lever action only, bolt action, single shot weapons, pistols, shotguns only etc... and in single shot the Springfield, martini, sparks, Romero, Bows are my main weapons I have to finish the XP for before I try anything else. and the Martini-Henry felt the best and performed the best, for rifles, I prefer it over a Mosin or Label, It made me focus on the aim and making it count and was fast enough to get me to retry when I body someone and using these single shot weapons was MUCH more cost effective, I did bolt actions after that and realized the 4x in cost per tier and I've scraped by with money or had to eco a few games in comparison to the single shots, I was never without enough money to buy one.
Hey Bro. You are blowing up out of nowhere..nice work! It's a result of effort/honest content, but also eye catching channel badging. (White/black visual theme and frame of the videos, the HomeReel logo itself, etc.). The overall package is increasingly professional. Keep up the good work.
I personally always used the sparks because it was one of the first weapons i picked up so i learned how to use it at every range. The reload speed really makes a difference especially at close quarter fughts but i find myself often in spots in which i'd prefer the spark over martini because the target isd really far away. In addition to this i think th muzzle velocity would need a lot of training and getting used to at mid and long ranges. But it is a great video and youre absolutely right
I’m always surprised when people write off the Martini in favor of the Sparks, because they misunderstand a fundamental design difference in the two guns, which is seen in their stats and evident in their respective variants. While the Sparks has a suppressor and a sniper scope, the Martini has a bayonet and a deadeye (I’m ignoring the marksman). Everything about the Martini screams aggression and smashing your enemy to pieces with rapid, high damage shots. The Sparks is all about long range, precision shooting, picking off enemies with one shot kills and the like.
I think people just value the muzzle velocity. For good aimers, velocity is really the only stat in hunt that matters very much. The martini could have a 50% faster reload and double the ammo and it would still be worse than the sparks.
@@PanzerIV88 negative. When you’re fighting someone they often strafe and make themselves hard to hit. With higher speed bullets, like the sparks, you can aim and hit something. With the Henry, at normal ranges you often have to guess, and miss. The only skill you can apply is aiming at them, but often you have to get lucky in a fight using Henry, at least much more so than with the sparks. The sparks is like 20% faster, which hits a critical breakpoint making the gun more like hitscan at normal ranges. This rewards people who are good at aiming - which is why you’ll almost never see one of the really strong hunters using a Henry. They use sparks, Mosin or lebel, for the speed.
I agree on everything but not on the explosive ammo. Half normal and half explosive makes the martini (especially the riposte one) one of the most versatile weapon in the game. Splash damage behind a cover, finish of an already very injured opponent or blow istantely a barrel can really help. Paired with a gun with hight rate of fire/fanning it's a beast of a loadout. The only downside at long distances is its muzzle velocity, as you said. Against other long ammo users that keep shooting and moving fast, it becomes difficult land shots even if we are quite good with the weapon.
Glad this video's doing well, it seems like it's really making a mark on the community. I see so many Martinis now, where just a few months ago Martini enjoyers such as myself were treated like your indie coffee shop's resident philosophy major smoking green tea out of a meerschaum pipe in a 100% thrifted outfit by the fire on their Afghan picnic blanket made from reclaimed alpaca wool from discarded Armani suits
Bro, the tooth and claw is my jam. Ive had my best plays with a martini bayonet and a pax with dumdum. Love hearing those death yells when they try to hide Around a corner and bleed out 😆
2:23 I know this video is old, but I thought I'd still comment on this portion. The reload speed of the martini is actually closer to 2 seconds (2,3 seconds to be exact) which is why the martini feels so snappy whenever you use it. So in reality the gun fires around 26 rpm
This is why i love hunt, so many ways to compare the guns an their playstyles. You simply cant just say one is better in all scenarios. This is good weapon balancing 😊
Martini=Training gun. Most guns are closer to 300 muzzle velocity. Helps you time your shots better, makes you wait less then the sparks but more then bolt action. Encourages you to take shots that you won't normally, making you better at hitting those shots over time. Cost effective. Change my mind XD
Explosive ammo doesn't suck at all. It's very good at blasting corners and tagging people behind cover and in buildings. And also just fun. It's a better incendiary cause you one-shot explode barrels with it. Because of the bigger ammo pool, you can afford to take one slot of explosive ammo and still use normal ammo without worrying about running out very much.
one other small advantage is the profile of the MH vs the Sparks, the Sparks is pretty long and can stick out if you're out of position, while the MH may be more concealed if out of position. a small thing but it is a another thing to consider since its more compact.
@@HomeReel Yeah, its nothing big but its just a minor detail, I have sometimes noticed sparks aiming out of windows or around corners before, Long snoots
I usually agree with your points, and I still believe most of your arguments hold true in this video. But I think the reload speed of one second less shouldn’t have so much emphasis on it, at least in comparison to the advantages the Sparks has. It’s important to remember that you have a sidearm, you wouldn’t be caught with your pants down while reloading and die just because reloading takes an extra second on the sparks, at that point people usually just switch to an officer or fanning pistol when being rushed and take it from there. Secondly, although I love the Martini and use it often, I feel like the pure damage the sparks has can score you some kills where you other wise wouldn’t have. It’s not unrealistic for you or an enemy to be shot from afar and be left on 2-9 hp. If you use the sparks to squeeze out even slightly more damage, it makes it a lot easier to score kills, considering if your target is already missing a smidge of health, or your teammate is shooting them at the same time, or an enemy taking fall damage after you shoot them with a sparks, and most significantly, the sparks has less of a penalty regarding limb multipliers. A leg shot from the Martini would only do 100, where as the sparks does 105, just an extra little something to think about. What I will say though, is the Martini definitely has better variants, at least in my opinion. The reach the bayonet comes in clutch and the deadeye and marksman scopes are better in most cases as opposed to the extreme sight on a sniper scope. Sorry for the long comment, just like to share my thoughts. In conclusion, chad level video, where the 1,000 subs at?
This video is referring to the reload speed in the context of mid-range gunfights through cover, where this gun shines the brightest. This covers compound approach, burning up bounty campers' healing items, and general warfare between buildings and through small trees. Being able to keep pressure is way easier with the MH, and in team play pressure is everything. That's not an "I would argue" phrase, that's just the objective truth. There's no contest between the pressure provided by a MH versus a Sparks. Really the only thing the Sparks has over the MH is like you said - being able to kill guys with two large health chunks with a leg shot. Any time you're in close range, as in you're in the same building with someone or rushing them around the corner, you're 100% not going to be running your MH for that. You've got your sidearm or knife out. There's also the economy to consider, as the Sparks variants are massively expensive, comparatively.
Totally okay to disagree Luca! This is just my perspective and some research. Not gospel. There will always be situations where the Sparks outshines the MH
@@lidla2008 "There's no contest between the pressure provided by a MH versus a Sparks" I would argue against this. Both are great weapons for putting pressure, but the sheer damage of the sparks is enough to keep an enemy pressured down for more than the reload speed of either gun. The martini has great damage too, but there's something about literally only having a single hit point that makes enemies reluctant to stay in line of sight. Now this is a hot take, but incendiary rounds can even increase this. If you hit an enemy with an incendiary sparks, even if they heal they will be one-shot to you until every last bit of char goes away. That can be a long long while. If that isn't the best pressure in the game, I don't know what is. The lack of penetration is really painful though, so I don't do it often.
HomeReel yeah totally, you brought up a couple good points that I never thought about before. I comment this every time but I love your content specifically because you go so in depth.
@@thefolkbloke6656 Still, that 1 second of reload time matters a lot. With a Sparks, you shoot, attempt a sidearm followup, and then have to retread and reload. I don't know what it is exactly, but you can REALLY feel that difference. With the Martini you can actually shoot and reload right away, and still sometimes be fast enough to prevent a heal. I tried a mix of normal and FMJ rounds on it, and it worked pretty well - long FMJ disrespects cover so much that it might as well not exist. Pop them once with a normal round, they retreat to heal, you load in an FMJ and finish them off.
incideary is actually good on the martini because you can burn someone and make them stay out of a fight even longer, or if they think they can live another hit they will go back to fighting (witht their burned health within 40m they die to another hit)
Riposte is best, the only melee variant of a gun that can kill grunts with light attacks Martini for me is a perfect gun for mid range harrasing and it even works pretty well at supressing an area by cosntantly wall banging
The reloads speeds are actually way larger than the stats suggest. The reload speed for the Martini is really about 2.5, and the reload speed for the sparks is actually about 4.5. 8 don't know why they didn't put the real reloads speeds on the guns, but that's what it is. So the Martini actually shoots almost twice as fast as the sparks does, and just a little slower than the Springfield. Something you will notice if you play them alot.
I am sooo happy that with the last update free hunters often come with Martini-Henry equipped. I always favored this gun over Sparks for its modifications, primarily riposte and deadeye.
For the pronunciation of riposte, if we refer to the French where the word comes from, the second attempt is the closest. It means "counterattack" but with a idea of skillier and/or quicker. This said, I'm grateful that I've come to find this video. I arbitrary love this rifle but I'm struggling like hell using it. I guess it was because I tried to use use it like a spark. I'm not good enough to see alone were the problem was. I'll try to commit in longer fights at shorter range with my homies and experiments things.
I am a solo console player and every body use bombe lance , fanning and ... Aiming is to hard on controller but if i hit somebody i like the 149 dammage because i often kill them in one hit. But i also use it because the riposte variant is good for compensate and killing knife or ace rusher because the mele attaque have a good range . The explosive ammo is very usefull because in this game having more possibility is always good . So if i need to say 3 things polyvalence , price and unique variant and ammo
I appreciate the video, but you may as well go with a Vetterli and its variants over the martini IMO. Because of the same muzzle velocity you would shoot them reliably at medium'ish range and it has 6+1 in the clip and 20 in reserve. Worth the 13 less damage.
the damage drop off for medium ammo is much more significant though, so long range are much more difficult. As said elsewhere, the Martini can be a jack of all trades.
Heres an argument I will make for the martini in regards to velocity. Most guns you use in hunt are around the 400 m/s. Vet, winni, henry, uppercut. Even a lot of the other pistols are closer to 400 being a little lower then that. At least bullet leading translates over well. The sparks is a really off weapon with a very strange and not similar bullet velocity then really any other gun
@@Eseerrowez so your argument is that the martini having worse muzzle velo is a good thing because a lot of other guns have a worse velo? man this gun has the same reload time as most other guns, that makes it better than this gun which is literally faster to reload🤨 might wanna think on that one a little harder next time chief
@@lemoncarton3004 "so your argument is that the martini having worse muzzle velo is a good thing" - Yes. If you don't comprehend the idea of using the guns that have a lower velocity and how having a consistency with that is, then that's your problem.
@@Eseerrowez its easier to go up in velo because you have to lead less, it’s easier that way. going down is harder. sure it’s more consistent, but it’s consistently bad. that’s so dumb to use as an argument
@@lemoncarton3004 Um ya duh its easier to go up in velocity, which is why its nice to have a gun that is long ammo and has same velocity that most guns have in the game. That's the point. Like I said, its like you don't understand the point I made. Wtf are you responding for at this point.
Explosive ammo is slept on. Scares the shit outta newet players, blows up everything near them, and can set up poison/bee traps in water as well as trigger traps while engaging outsode the compound
Martini with explosive ammo is super slept on. Torso shot is a one hit kill at a surprisingly medium range. Riposte is straight up a free cavalry saber in the same slot as your primary, that custom light attack is god tier for clearing mobs This last point is 100% subjective but it also has my favorite iron sights in the game
this is a great vid for people experimenting with long ammo. I guess this vid isn't for me because he said "If you aren't nailing headshots then leave the sparks at home your team will thank you". I AM nailing headshots and that's why I use the sparks because once u do kill that guy in a compound fight you can easily 1 tap and keep him down for the rest of the fight. I do love martini though.
one question, when using martiny, between 20 to 50 meters, I don't see any one shot to torso or head, instead at similar ranges with Mossin, it is always almost insta kill....what is going on?
I feel that the blade sights of the Martini-Henry are easier to line up compared to the cramped sights of the sparks. I can't hit anything with those sights. The Martini-Henry is my go-to rifle.
If you haven't checked out this guy on reddit. Do yourself a favor and look it up. He is HILARIOUS! Glad to see you're on RUclips too Homereel. Excited for more content.
The riposte was always the reason I chose the Henry over the Sparks. A rending light melee that can take out grunts without switching and having the option to go full hooah in a fight and try to pin my enemy to the floor if I really need to definitely out weighs the extra six points of damage the Sparks offers.
I'd say you overlooked the potential of using the incendiary ammo to get one shots, after the burning takes out a small chunk of their health. Of course, the Sparks is better for this due to its higher damage which matters when such strats are concerned, but still.
Honestly with the current update I've found that the FMJ actually is REALLY decent at placing shots on enemies in cover. Also, the ironsights are some of the best Ingame imho.
As a person who tends to lead his shots too much, the Martini-Henry is by far the best rifle for me since I'm not good with any "point-and-click" type guns like the Lebel and Mosin and ESPECIALLY the Sparks
The martini is my favorite gun currently. I just feel like I perform better overall with it. I’ve hit some absolutely insane shots with the Henry, but maybe I just am not used to the sparks yet
Love the spark and the mosin but the fact the martini has a dead eye option is what does it for me just run a martini and a fast firing sidearm to finish them off
What do you think about adding spitzer ammo to the martini? It would be more reliable at long range, and wouldn't really mess with any gun. there is no single fire gun with spitzer and doesn't mess with the sparks by reducing damage and adding cost so it wouldn't really be a budget gun while using spitzer
Explosive isn't bad. Not only can you stack it with explosive uppercut, (which is also tons of fun) but you can also push out more damage at further ranges, simply because the explosive damage has 0 damage dropoff over range. Try it some time.
Except for the medium ammo. Long ammo is king for damage over range (even those medium range gunfights), but interestingly, the medium ammo headshot modifier is higher
@@HomeReel Comparing the Martini to the close range capabilities of the sparks and the far range capabilities of the springfield is a bit of a strawman, it's obvious those aren't their niches. I would rather have a springfield up close and a sparks far away, I can't think of a single situation where I'd be best off with a martini, and that's my problem with it. If it was a fair bit cheaper, I would be fine with it sitting as an all-arounder. But for a gun that's almost as expensive as a sparks, it disappoints. A sparks is clearly better at long range, and a springfield is arguably better at close range for a fraction of the cost.
@@thefolkbloke6656 The Martini is just as good and better than the Sparks in close and medium range fights. I don't compare it to the Springfield. And in Hunt, you don't always get to pick your ideal range. In a compound fight, I'd rather have a mh. But also these videos are just like my opinion. I stand by them but you can disagree too. I won't dislike you for it
@@HomeReel For sure, I'm just sharing my opinion as well, no worries. I do appreciate the flexibility of the Martini, but I've just never struggled at range with the Springfield enough to say "damn, I wish I had a Martini" Whereas I feel like I struggle with a Martini in both close range fights (where I could have a faster fire rate) and in long range (where I wish I had a faster bullet). I just feel that long ammo single shot rifles aren't the best thing to have for compound fights, and the Martini doesn't quite keep up with other guns in other ranges. I still enjoyed the video though, and I have to say I wish I liked the martini. Has all the best skins in the game!
I personally like the sparks better but which one is better would deppend a lot on the individual's playstyle. Also reload speed and rate of fire are kind of the same thing and when was the last time you ran out of bullets in the sparks or martini? And having that extra 6 damage is really nice I have had so many people die from fall damage because of it and any little burn or cut that is less than six will help get you a kill. Last point muzzle velocity is really important and if you took sparks with fmj you would still have around the same speed as the MH but way more pen.
I think it's an issue of overall versatility. The reason people love the sparks is because it's reliable in every situation it applies to. They don't realize it's a LONG rifle in every regard. The martini is the little brother that does everything the same, but on an ever-so-slightly lesser scale. That said, I'd also say it's a bad point to aim for using a gun that can be allowed to miss more as a reason to use it more. You don't wanna rely on a gun because it allows more mistakes, after all.
I feel like you missed a chance to talk on the sights, the Sparks has a wider front site, which blocks more of your view. In the shorter range scuffles you mention, the better iron sights and deadeye option make it way more useful.
I actually think the 1s faster reload makes all the difference. Good players can easily outplay the sparks because of the 4s reload with gives so much more time to push and reposition. Ingame it is actually a 3s window (4 minus 1s of reaction) of action an enemy can do, compared to a 2s window of reaction with the martini. In 3s a hunter can do way more. On top, the reload animation of the sparks blocks line of sight for about 1s, while the martini does not at all. Martini > Sparks.
The sight is great, it feels nice. Its fun to play. But imo it needs Spitzer or high velocity ammo or will allways be overshadowed by the other long ammo guns. I loved to play that gun, but now i can land headshots, so i play windfield instead when i want 400 muzzle velocity/close-mid range gunfights.
Listen yall. this can be said about every weapon in the game: in the right hands, any weapon is amazing. in other words, each weapon is viable. i personally like taking fights at a medium to long range. the winnie swift, karabiner, and martini are guns i really like. shotguns on the other hand, i can be pretty hit or miss with. but my friend really likes shotguns and cant get with rifles. so its a matter of HOW you play and not as much with WHAT you play
I really really like the martini, just today I had an amazing match using one and and uppercut and you get a lot of long ammo to play with on that loadout and don't really need any perks to have a good time. Maybe it was a fluke but its become one of my favorite loadouts in the game.
I would say a HUGE advantage IS the explosive ammo, the utility of it is great! *Oh the bounty team is holed up in the boss lair?* Boom boom boom..... now they dont have any doors left. Oh i see a red barrel BOOOOOOM!!! Also hitting people from behind cover is nice when you know where they are to force them to move.
Small revision: I forgot to include Steady Aim as the trait that would benefit the MH when using a scope. So be sure to look for that perk if you are taking a scope! Also incendiary has less penetration, oops!

you should hit a top 5-10 list of your favorite guns or loadouts or ammo types or something. ez content, algorithm likes lists too, plus people always like that kinda stuff
You can stay in sight by holding the trigger after the shot without the perk, and gain NOTHING from having it
@@-shazerker-6874 corrected this elsewhere (including the pinned comment). Steady Aim is the perk I was meaning. You right tho
I like the way you think! Trying this tonite lol
There’s a couple things I think you missed because I love the Martini. Firstly hipfire, simply really tight and reliable. Second no hammer, the sparks has that huge hammer that blocks a considerable amount of your view when aiming the Martini does not. Finally and one of the most important point is that it shares the same velocity as the uppercut, so by using the Martino your training your proficiency with the uppercut and if you can use the uppercut you can use the martini
my controversial opinion: I don't like the Uppercut as it currently exists in the game balance wise. But you do make very good points!
@@HomeReel care to elaborate? what's wrong with how it is now?
@@HomeReel Uppercut is the best sidearm no matter what you're bringing, excluding maybe medium ammo, but I wonder what they could do to tone it down a bit without making it unfun to use.
@@Longray Dolch??
@@paranoza3573 Uppercut is just as strong, maybe stronger. Way better damage over range, penetration, ammo stacks with meta rifles, can kinda use fanning to compensate for the firerate. It's also 2.5x cheaper, which is just absurd. The Dolch needs to be cheaper and the Uppercut needs a nerf. It's easily the most overtuned weapon in Hunt right now
There's something to be said about iron sights, the martini has some of the best iron sights in the game. Also tooth and claw is sexy af.
Really? I dislike the Martini's sights, the post feels too high and the rear sight being rounded off makes it feel less precise. The only reason I use the Sharps instead of the Martini is that the sights are better. Same reason that I use the Schofield over the Nagant Officer
@@cuttlefishrampant5241 idk for me sparks sights are way worse. And the hammer that takes half of the screen...
The tooth and claw makes me feel more like an R&B star than a red velvet tuxedo. The Bingham Brash is great too, though
An important point about the Riposte is that it have a light attack quick swipe that deals 82 damage and is very fast.
Most other "melee guns" don't come with that and usually have a shove/buttstock attack that deals way less damage.
And its so sexy and satisfying to use
This is true. A random teammate picked a martini riposte from an enemy corpse the other day and I watched him charge heavy melee attacks against grunts and I'm wondering does he not know that a single light attack from it is enough to kill the grunts?
Apparently people do not know this.
Oh and once you've downed them at least one time, the martini also makes a great shotgun! Just hipfire one shot people at close and medium range, it is super satisfying ✨
One tap after revive is just a bonus :)
The same applies to the spark.
But the spark has a tighter crosshair when you hipfire so is still better
@@marcococcia2250 Not better, just different.
@@marcococcia2250 If you're not moving around the crosshair size doesn't make a difference to accuracy btw
I once hipfired someone point blank with a martini and scored a headshot before they could fire off their rival shotgun lmao.
The conclusion better be "both are inferior to the springfield"
I mean don't get me wrong trying to save some money the Springfield is great, and if it came with a bayonet id love it, but I don't feel like that medium ammo can reach as far??
@@JMan-The_AntiCitizen- it really can't. Its damage drop off starts at 20 meters
It's actually about 2.54 seconds, while the Spring is 2.6 seconds. Yes, the Martini technically reloads faster than the Spring
That extra second doesn't just make you shoot faster, it also allows you to put pressure on the enemy again quicker after firing a shot.
Imagine hitting somebody with a bullet that deals 149 of your 150 HP bar... believe me.. you don't need nothing more than that.
@@BrenoAmado not that much of a difference when you're getting hit for 143 with the MH. 7 or 1 HP doesn't change much.
The Martini is completely out of place right now... if they put the muzzle velocity at 490 and the reload speed at 2,5s would be totally fine for me... but the icing on the cakeould be a extended variant of the Martini Henry that actually exists in real life.. here's the video at the right time:
ruclips.net/video/8HeztkQ9WNE/видео.html
@@BrenoAmado Nice text. Enemy will still die from the next source of damage after the Martini. You just need to know how to utilise it properly.
It is confusing. Crytek could do more here.
Well, I mean, if you hover your mouse over the text, it gives you an explenation on it.

I’ve always said Martini-Henry is one of the best guns in the game, it’s always my go-to
I like the Martini because of the Riposte and the Deadeye variant. The saber because it lets me have a melee weapon with almost the same range of bomblance and it's safe to use against concertina armored and the deadeye because I can't manage scopes with a higher magnification than a deadeye.
Martini riposte is the best melee attachment to any weapon in the game, can't change my mind. I've gotten a surprising amount of kills with it.
Well said. Jack of all trades, master of none is how I feel about it too
Martini has always been frowned upon, but I love it.
So true. This is a more combat reliant sparks. 4% difference in damage is a super minimal difference.
I love the martini it's just such a good gun also you missed how good the hipfire is on the martini the area is super tight especially for a rifle
Yeah they really missed the opportunity to flip up the rear sights on the regular sparks like the silenced variant has.
Cue the billion 6 star mosin uppercut players who say that sparks is a perfect weapon for all ranges

@@HomeReel im sure we will enjoy it ;)
Good video man!
The Martini has just as much killing power in the same scenarios with still plenty of wiggle room.

i've always wondered why i thought the martini just *felt* better (aside from the sparks' bigass hammer). this is vindicating to me :D
I would like to point out that having slower muzzle velocity isn't just a simple "learn to lead." Even if you are perfect at leading it will bring more variabilities into each shot. It creates more opportunities for you opponent to make sudden movements.
I don't think that is different from any of the other guns
@@HomeReel Yeah it's not unique to the Martini. My point is that the downsides of a slow muzzle velocity cannot be completely negated with skill. Because you said that the Martini would better serve you in most gunfights if you learn to lead with it. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just pointing that out.
@@misterdanny8644 ah i gotcha, that's a good consideration
My go to loadout has been the martini reposte with a silenced nagant with poison ammo since both became available. it is delicious.
I appreciate that! Thanks for taking the time :)
But it is a great video and youre absolutely right
The sparks is the better sniper! You are totally right for liking it, just there are some weird opinions i see about the MH. Wanted to correct them
I’m always surprised when people write off the Martini in favor of the Sparks, because they misunderstand a fundamental design difference in the two guns, which is seen in their stats and evident in their respective variants.
This channel is literally a goldmine of witty delivery. Your martini joke hits me just right. Keep it up, man!
I’ve been dismissing the Martini but considering how many enemies escape after getting tagged by my Sparks once, I’m gonna give it a shot.
Good luck!
Probably regreted the decision by now..
Hey i'm new to the game and often hear people say "tagging" an enemy'. What does it mean? Just hitting them?! Or are they tagged in darkside or sth?
@@kannibal8850 yeah it means hitting an enemy without killing them
I agree on everything but not on the explosive ammo.
This is my favorite gun in the game, I didn’t know people had negative opinions of it haha
And then Springfield shows up and dunks on both!
Bro, the tooth and claw is my jam. Ive had my best plays with a martini bayonet and a pax with dumdum. Love hearing those death yells when they try to hide Around a corner and bleed out 😆
I prefer the sparks solely because I like how it looks, reloads and sounds.
It’s just a neat gun.
totally fair and valid!
I like the overall shorter length of the Marty Henry - don't have this huge long barrel poking out of windows and through bushes.
I play the Martini Henry a lot and i like it. together with the Officier(even after the much more cost) it is still a good loadout.
It also costs an additional 120 dollars. I am not sure that most people would be able to translate that to 120 dollars more effectiveness.
Fair. Prices on some custom ammo types are pretty harsh
Thanks for this educational material! I'm trying to pick out what weapons exactly work best for me and this could help a fair bit.
I am glad you enjoy them. Maybe I'll have all the guns sorted one day
one other small advantage is the profile of the MH vs the Sparks, the Sparks is pretty long and can stick out if you're out of position, while the MH may be more concealed if out of position. a small thing but it is a another thing to consider since its more compact.
hadn't considered that, rare occurrence but good point
@@HomeReel Yeah, its nothing big but its just a minor detail, I have sometimes noticed sparks aiming out of windows or around corners before, Long snoots
@@SanyaTheNightWitch69420 thats how ya get booped
@@HomeReel Indeed!
Just another notch in favor of the Obrez!
I just like hearing your comentary...awaiting to hear how you feel bout ironside with some usage on it now that the even is nearing a close.
incideary is actually good on the martini because you can burn someone and make them stay out of a fight even longer, or if they think they can live another hit they will go back to fighting (witht their burned health within 40m they die to another hit)
Riposte is best, the only melee variant of a gun that can kill grunts with light attacks
Martini for me is a perfect gun for mid range harrasing and it even works pretty well at supressing an area by cosntantly wall banging
Don't forget Romero Hatchet, that one's also a kill on a grunt with light attacks.
0:45 - All large and medium slot long ammo rifles actually do the listed damage up to 40m to the chest, not 10m.
You forgot one martini henry Ic1 Ironside
Great data-backed analysis!
The velocity is pretty huge though, when aiming down sight I want to hit as fast as possible.
"The sick snipes of hunt showdown" doin' the gun guides , awesome love your content keep it up!
*r e p o s t i*
Martini with explosive ammo is super slept on. Torso shot is a one hit kill at a surprisingly medium range. Riposte is straight up a free cavalry saber in the same slot as your primary, that custom light attack is god tier for clearing mobs
This last point is 100% subjective but it also has my favorite iron sights in the game
The Martini does not 1 shot to the chest with explosive ammo. The only 1 shot rifle to the torso is the nitro within 30 meters.
this is a great vid for people experimenting with long ammo.
Excited for more content.
that's really kind of you :) thanks!
Martini has better sustain, and sparks is better for attrition if that makes sense.
Explosive isn't bad. Not only can you stack it with explosive uppercut, (which is also tons of fun) but you can also push out more damage at further ranges, simply because the explosive damage has 0 damage dropoff over range. Try it some time.
Yeah, if target is stationary, you basically have guaranteed damage
Sounds like the Springfield fits into this philosophy pretty well too.
@@HomeReel Interestingly compact ammo headshot multiplier is even higher. By multitudes. I believe it's 6x. It's just how bad compact ammo is
How do you wall-bang with normal ammo? In my experience I can't even shoot through a flimsy wooden door
In the shorter range scuffles you mention, the better iron sights and deadeye option make it way more useful.
sights are pretty subjective so hard to quantify. People in this comment section say they prefer the sparks sight more
Are you ever going to go back to revisit the martini Ironside?
I love how the FMJ ammo in the pick is clearly not fmj
I actually think the 1s faster reload makes all the difference.
Good players can easily outplay the sparks because of the 4s reload with gives so much more time to push and reposition.
Ingame it is actually a 3s window (4 minus 1s of reaction) of action an enemy can do, compared to a 2s window of reaction with the martini.
In 3s a hunter can do way more.
On top, the reload animation of the sparks blocks line of sight for about 1s, while the martini does not at all.
Martini > Sparks.
@@PanzerIV88 after a shot both players need about 1s to decide what they intent to do next.
The sight is great, it feels nice. Its fun to play. But imo it needs Spitzer or high velocity ammo or will allways be overshadowed by the other long ammo guns. I loved to play that gun, but now i can land headshots, so i play windfield instead when i want 400 muzzle velocity/close-mid range gunfights.
this is one of the side effect changes from the 1.6 ammo tweaks. I link to that in the description. The Winfield is stronger than it used to be
Listen yall. this can be said about every weapon in the game: in the right hands, any weapon is amazing. in other words, each weapon is viable. i personally like taking fights at a medium to long range. the winnie swift, karabiner, and martini are guns i really like. shotguns on the other hand, i can be pretty hit or miss with. but my friend really likes shotguns and cant get with rifles. so its a matter of HOW you play and not as much with WHAT you play
I would really play more with Martini, if we had HV ammo for it
The Martini-Henry is my favorite gun outside of the Berthier.
Solely because the riposte bayonet is amazing.
*Oh the bounty team is holed up in the boss lair?*
Boom boom boom..... now they dont have any doors left.
Oh i see a red barrel BOOOOOOM!!!
Also hitting people from behind cover is nice when you know where they are to force them to move.
I like the sparks for the sights. I prefer them over the Martini's
fair enough
