I doubt it would ever resell for that price, but it truly is a special car and no one can deny that. So the fact its one of the most beautiful, and a coupe version of one of the most legendary race cars from the most romantic era of racing. Truly helps trump the competition. My father today was just talking about the most expensive cars. I didnt know a coupe 300 slr existed and i told him. This a great car but no doubt the fact their is only 2 of them ever produced makes them a lot more expensive than the 250 GTO. I'm sure if either a Bugatti Royale or Bugatti Atlantic ever came up for auction they would beat this price. The 250 series engineering could not have been that bad to win so many endurance races. Besides, a Ferrari V12, or more specifically a Bizzarrini V12 will always be more exotic and glamorous than any engine, especially over an 8 cylinder. All are greats.

To my eyes, the 250 gto is overrated and while i understand its beauty and pedigree. I wouldnt take one for free lol. (It was obviously an old video). I dont look at things for their price. I am just a fan of stirling moss, and as a driver, the mille miglia is the quintessential race. It makes the nordschleife look like a playground for children. Its the most romantic era for racing in human history too. The 55 300 slr is kind of the coolest endurance race car ever made. And while i have some very strong feelings about mercedes since i found my personal invention on one of their concept cars. It doesnt change the love you can or should feel for these beautiful old machines. So i start responding this. And showing my father the 300 slr. How id take that any day. I had no idea they made coupes of the car. Let alone how much they are worth now (whether the auction was fluffed or not), had i been a billionaire there. The price would have doubled or tripled till i got the keys because i understand just how cool and special this car is. You can get a dauer 956. An f1 gtr. A 333 speciale. Custom built paganis of every model. Any porsche 911. The rarest jag e type lightweight. And still have enough money to buy two of each. But this slr is romantic in its most unique way to some people. It just happens to now be the most expensive car ever sold

It should include a small person that is built into the car under the steering column. The small persons job is to suck me off whenever I’m driving the car. I would think for 140+ million, that would be a reasonable expectation and a feature to expect in this car with that kind of price tag.
