Impressive both . For me Alexander Is One of the best living sax players. He never divert the attention, complete control , huge knoledge, Always improoving !
These dudes have played so much together that they know exactly how to play off each other. Sometimes you hear them borrow licks from each other; it's like our generation's version of Coltrane and Cannonball
@Emmet Cohen I can hear Dexter saying “Just what we need - another tenor player! Ha-ha-ha-ha” - which kinda works here ‘cause Vincent has so much meat on his tone! Such great blowing from everyone involved, I especially dug the thing going on between Emmet and Joe at about 11:40 . Also have to comment on the stage vibe again - it is very cool seeing the players watching each other and so obviously enjoying the experience!
This is worth coming back to. After hearing Eric discuss his 21 major key explorations I'm suddenly hearing lots of Hank Mobley in his improvisation. Fantastic.
8:13 What's the tune Vincent Herring quoted there, if it was ever a quote? There's a tune with this exact motif being repeated with varations and it has been stuck in my head for a while and I can't put a name on it
Listening to this feels like I've been transported back to 2006. I'm imagining getting out of a showing of The Departed and driving through Cedar Grove NJ blasting some Eric Alexander & Vincent Herring on the way home. 2006 Emmet would never be caught wearing those thicc pinstripe pants tho -- yikes.
say give kurt elling a chance to dig in...man those multi phonics from erick and vince are like from another world the quotes wow how to think that fast million dollar line up ...u see ll the young kids making hundreds of millions with little skills ...this is real ....now whers the cd mix
Definitely seems like he was exploring. More of a jam session mentality I guess. I really like this format though. You get a great variety of soloists. My favorite so far has been Christian McBride. The interaction between him and Emmet is just insane...total mind meld
@@TWO20 back in 1994-95 he was my favorite young tenor. He became a George Coleman disciple and kind of lost himself. I think he plays too much now. Not as bad as James Carter but same effect. I have met him a few times. Very nice guy. I can’t buy his records anyone. I didn’t mind his record on GiantstepsArt. You may like it. Good label.
@@buckeyelax9567 Same here. I have a lot of his albums. Great player, great technique, vocabulary, and tone. Yet I get bored. I never get tired of Vincent Herring though.
@@jtbsax Vincent has always been a soulful player. I remember buying his first two albums. I believe he was a street musician. I hope he stays healthy.
Great playing all around, but too much Eric Alexander. He's got a great sound. His playing is harmonically interesting, but doesn't leave much space or interact with the rhythm section much. He might as well be playing with a backing track. The difference is crystal clear once Vincent Herring starts playing. It starts sounding like a band. He knows when he peaks and when to stop playing.
Erick is full of himself but dam he's a bad man ill taken a dozen yea Vincent has his name etched in gold inlay dam so if u look at the other players they know they got 2 tigers by the tail their faces tell the story

Vincent Herring's solo is class!

I love how everybody is so responsive during the solos and clearly enjoying each other's talents. Thank you for this 🙏❤
Blow Vincent Blow. That's the way you share the stage. Straight and to the point. Nice
Merci à Emmet pour toutes ces vidéos ❤
Eric straight punching the crap outta that horn!!!
This is like a blues masterclass

You guys are amazing. Emment Cohen's Place is the best thing to come out of this pandemic. 14:30 dear god, just mind-blowingly good.
Eric Alexander certainly tears it up, big time! :-D
I’m totally with that guy in the back right at the beginning of Vincent’s solo. I would be getting into it too. Lmao
I dig this drummer
Génial merci pour ce grand moment de jazz
Love EA’s playing.
That bass solo was like Paul Chambers 🤩
Heavyweights!! This should be a double vinyl audiophile release with the same title. Bluenote where are you!!?

Amazing!!!!!!!!!
Love the pimp hat
Le sourire de Russel😊
Eric Alexander starts off sounding like you combined Sonny Stitt and Gene Ammons from one of those live records.
I'm hearing mostly Trane language but with a better sound
Listen carefully, haha
@@guidemeChrist Definitely not
He copped a ton of George Coleman's stuff is what it is
@@alexts94 check your ears. Don't hear all the 1 2 3 5's? Just because he has a good sound doesn't mean the language isn'g trane

@@sirkie thank you! I've been searching the name of that tune for days. I literally hummed it in my voice memo and named it "jazz shazam", no joke 😂

Tenor player playing 10 minutes too long. Talking too much and not saying anything personal. Not for me.
EA is a great player, but his solos get kinda boring after a while
Eric Alexander seems very uncomfortable.
He didn’t like his own solo maybe.
What
, Uncomfortable ? How?
Eric solo waaaaytooo long repetetive come on guys... noise noise noise
