I love the reaction of Mustafa when his siblings arrived. He really loved them. Too bad he had a tragic ending. I remember that scene when Mahidevran was already telling him about her plan. He said, "They are my siblings. I'll die for them if I have to."
IRL he didn't care but for 2 of them but that was because the chances of them being a rival to the throne was slim to none. On the show he was close to Cihangir and Bayezid but IRL he was close to Selim and Cihangir. He really believed that because Bayezid was the stronger of his brother(militarily) he was the stronger rival after Mehmet that is. He DIDN'T like Mehmet. He wasn't even close with his sister either. Their relationship was completely severed after she married Rustem. Selim was the only one Mahi like. Hence is why he restored her allowance and household when he came to power.

Ibrahim was exceptionally honest and fair in this episode. He doesn't jump on an opoortunity of gaining the favors of to-be Valide, Mahidevran. He is ready to even confront her to save Hurrem, his rival and enemy, and her children - just because his friend and lord asked him to do so.

Valide overheard her speaking of her ideas to one of her slave concubines of how she will throw everyone out of palace and murder Hurrem's children and all these schemes and Valide became shocked on hearing that the women she always sided with wished to throw her out of palace and most importantly kill her son's children. This is when Valide started siding with Hurrem and gave shelter to her children.
She finally was forced to see Mahidevran as she really was, especially after the " conversation" that she overheard. The Sultan had already told Valide to keep Mahidevran in check, now she had proof positive that he knew what he was talking about, and came face-to-face with the monster she helped to create.
Agreed. She was Mustafa's greatest liability. Too bad he never figured that out and put her in check when he had the chance. Her going up against Hurrem signed HIS death warrant. Sad.
Regardless of any and all problems one could possibly have, I still think this is one of the best episodes of the series. It tonally sets up the rest of the franchise itself so perfectly and succeeds to stand out and shine in an unique light in a batch of otherwise really strong episodes (and a really strong arc) in this delightfully hot mess of a season.
