    In your opinion, Mr. Grandmaster Finegold, why did Wesley switched to a more solid, drawish style from his sharp style beforehand? And do you think Wesley would have a higher rating if he would try for a win more than go for the safe draw (i.e. would he get more wins than losses if he doesn't settle for draws)?

    • @AlvinAlmuete
      @AlvinAlmuete Год назад

      Being at the top, it must so difficult to squeeze out a win. Chess players tend to play more solid than being reckless attacker in the long run.

      I think it is just personality. And probably now more in line with his personality ( and that is just part of chess too, for example Magnus is a true killer). He managed to break out that for some time, but I have given up that he will consisently do that again.

    Kasparov isn't generous in defeat, and his "...that was Morphy vs Amateur and I was the amateur" makes him sound generous in the re-telling. Actually he was playing down Wesley's achievement in that game. Yasser said, "...wasn't Wesley amazing....? etc" and Gary shrugged and said what he said - ie, "I played so badly, so far below my usual level that it was like Morphy v Amateur. Not such a big deal really." And re Wesley and his friendship with Akobian - in the interview after the snitching episode he replied to the question "you're friends with Akobian aren't you?" by saying "I was". So I thought it was that way round, ie He was, Snitch, he wasn't - - not, He wasn't, Snitch, he was (friends). It was a very mean snitch.

    Man, Wesley So is like the James Harden of chess. Savant, but never gets right to the top. All the candidates tournaments he's just laid eggs. He can't seem to get past Nepo and Ding and Karjakin and Caruana. I can see why Ben is such a big fan of his chess, but for some reason it isn't translating to the world championships.

    • @sammy_trix
      @sammy_trix Год назад +1

      I don't think So. Wesley So is more like Ronaldo who is improving more and more his craft. He is a savant but he acknowledges that there are some players that are better and when you look now at his battle against Firouja he is going balistic and he is unfavorable most of the time but he shows time and time again that he's a world champ.

Get saved today Ben and you'll avoid having to die AND/OR living through 7 years of hell on earth. MUCH BETTER.
