Fünf Minuten vor der Zeit ist des Deutschen Pünktlichkeit. I think I typed that correctly. 5 minutes before the scheduled time is punctuality in Germany 🇩🇪. I’ve been told that’s a saying in Germany. Great points.
Well, punctuality and getting a heads up if you can't make it, are important to me, but we're not that rigorious that we will throw a fit if we agreed to 7:00pm and one showed up at 7:03 or 7:05. At least I never met someone that would lose him- or herself over that, speaking of a casual meeting. In school on the other hand, 8am means 8am. You were not punished if you came 5 minutes late, but the teacher would say something like "class starts at 8am". What however is an absolute no-no, and you can seriously ruin your reputation in an instant, is if you agree to a set time and don't show up at all, or ridiculously late, especially if you were supposed to meet in some other arranged place. Giving a heads up prior, all cool. But to not give a sh"t, will not just cost you your friends, but also your job or contracts. As for the noise, it really depends what kind of noise. I'm not sensitive to every bit of noise like a vacuum cleaner, but if some d*ck for instance unneccessarily refs his engine while driving past my house, or some weirdo is screaming outside my house (excluding kids that are playing), that's annoying af.
Hello LS, Thank You so much for watching and commenting. Yes, communication is the key to keep contracts and friends. I understand things can come up but again proprt communication solves everything. Hearing noise especially when you are trying to rest is aggravating without a doubt. I hope that we will keep in touch via other videos :)!
I don't live in Germany but i am part German on my dad's side and lived there back in the eary 80's. I totally agree with what you said. I hate it when people are disrespectful with loud noise, especially at night and have no respect for those around them. The lateness should only be accepted for emergencies. It's totally being dependable and considerate which goes a long way in my book.😊
I married a German 36 years ago when I was stationed there. She isn't too bad on the time and the noise? Our house has been referred to as the loud house!
My ballet teacher use to say, "If you are early, you are on time. If you are on time, you are late". It's been engraned in me my whole life. The main exception is for safety. haha Professionaly, punctuality is critical. Personally, I'll still give a heads up with my exact ETA when meeting a friend. ALSO - I enjoy the quiet. As a kid, everyone in our neighborhood mowed their lawn on the same day. It was brilliant.
Hello, I like what your ballet teacher teaches :). Being on time has been ingrained in me all my life as well and I am so grateful for that. It is always good to give someone an ETA for sure ;). Having everyone mow their lawn at the same time would be an ideal situation for sure. Thank You so much for watching and commenting. :).
We use to say : Pünktlichkeit ist die Höflichkeit der Könige which (literally translated) means: punctuality is the courtesy of kings. And yes, only an emergency case is an excuse for unpunctuality. That's a really important thing here. 🙂
I love that saying, " Pünktlichkeit ist die Höflichkeit der Könige" very much. Oh yes, in cases of emergencies, being late is excusable. Thanks so much for your comment. :).
Hi, Darion, punctuality isn't quite so bad in the private sphere, but you should send a message: "Hey, I'm going to be 15 minutes late!" Then I can go somewhere for an espresso, or in your case, eat a spaghetti ice cream! 😜 But punctuality is a form of respect for the other person, or vice versa, signaling unpunctuality: My time is more important than yours!
Hallo My Friend Arno!!!! I agree, that punctuality is surely a form of respect. However, If someone is late I will certainly go to an Eis Cafe and have some spaghetti eis, no harm no foul :) !!!!!! :)
Yes I agree in personal settings but not in proffessional settings. :). When I show up to work I don't show up at the time that I am scheduled to work , I show up early so that I can be productive at the start time. Thanks for your input :).
It is true that being late is very disrespectful and in everyday life it can sometimes cost you your job, a lot of money and valuable time. You should be extremely punctual, especially when visiting authorities. We don't like noise either, as it affects the peace between people, which is why we have laws against it, such as quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. This is taken very seriously; if you are not quiet during this time, we will call the police, as it is quiet hours. The police will ensure that the troublemaker either keeps quiet under threat of punishment, or, if they are uncooperative, they will be taken to the police station and held in a cell for the night. Rules are there to ensure peace.
Yes, being late is very disrespectful for sure. However, there are times when things come up but having good communication is everything. I love "quiet" hours as it is needed for good rest. Thanks for stopping by !!!! :)
I am swiss. And everybody male have to serve in the swiss armee. 10 second to late, is to late. 3 days in a military box with the bible and service regulations book. No exemption. This teach you for live.
