Toyota looking real good rn compared to the others
Especially honda they make their cars uglier and heavier I respect them I used to be a honda boy a decade ago but the hype stopped because the older ones which I like are hard to find and the newer ones just don't do it for me and their hatches basically look like sedans this is a real hatch
@@Jac735 yea but the a brand new Civic Type R is way better than the outgoing one.
@@jonlosito2004 I can agree on that
It's beautiful car but RUclips journalist, please stop saying it's a good price, maybe in a perfect world. Everybody KNOWS you are NOT touching this car for $35k-$40! I love this and the new Type R i think Toyota and Honda both did a wonderful job. My biggest concern is it will literally price itself out of desire. Dealer's will be asking north of $50k for these and at that point the you might as well just get a lightly used BMW M2 competition if you're looking for a "drivers car"
The Golf R is a good competitor for this car
Yep, and I'd rather have the R
Maybe if the front is less ugly at the refresh I'll skip my ideas of wanting this GR and get another R.
You forgot to add the dealership mark-ups minimum 10k for each trim
👍👍 Thanks for watching
Let's talk now 🔝🔝
40k+ for a Corrolla, same goes for CTR.Insane.😆
Ctr is fwd, sure the 2.0t has more power potential and looks better
Omg Dave: keep the drum and bass tracks in ur vids. This song is pure🔥. I Had to take spin in my sti after hearing it!
David, I know from the factory it feels like a more subdued car, but isn't the Golf R still a competitor? I'd like to see a head to head
👍👍 Thanks for watching
Let's talk now 🔝🔝
Yes, he’s just feeding off that new car hype, watch any other video than his to get a better idea on the car
We need someone like Toyoda on Nissan, Mazda and Mitsubishi
Hopefully dealers won’t add crazy markup..
Praying to the car gods 🙏🏻
It will easily sell for 10-20k more at the dealers. Don't hold your breath.
You can always which cars are david's favorite cars. Listen to the intro he play 3 songs for cars at the top of his list this is one.
Love you guys
Special edition 21 owner here. Love the hatch revolution and definitely my car seemed to start that. Not as powerful hut loving it and supersonic red. Fun car finally as I've been a toyo for most my life. Good to see fun cars
👍👍 Thanks for watching

What’s the dealership mark up going to be? 20? 30?k
You know you're getting old when you think the corolla is too ridiculous looking and you'd rather have the golf r for the simpler looks and nicer interior
I agree. Not into the looks of this at all.
Been waiting for a real review so thank you, but how does it compare to the Golf R/S3 platform?
Always loved the hot hatch market. Was looking at a Golf but ended up with an Elantra GT NLine that I'm pretty happy with but if I can manage to find one of the Circuit editions I just might have to trade in!
Why not get a Civic Si? Is it more expensive? I'd much rather get a Honda than a VAG or some korean shit, but then again I'm not really in the market for new cars lmao
Don't do that Bro, Elantra is much better....
Type R doesn’t feel like a Honda? While Toyota literally used BMWs and Subarus engines? Cmon maneee
I like it better with the bigger rear roof wing. This car is going to be awesome
Same here. It looks awkward without the big rear wing
My friend has one and put an aftermarket exhaust on it, and we both were pretty disappointed at how raspy it still sounded.
these will do 10.5s 1/4mile @131mph with the (Lamspeed turbo kit) stock internals hold up easily still too!
When you start the car. Is the torque split default in 50:50? Asking because in GR Yaris 60/40 is default.
👍👍 Thanks for watching

Toyota needs to stop “testing” that motor in The gr86 and bring it to market
They do have a big 7 starred problem keeping them from doing so.
I never started to look at Toyota cars until I saw the Camry trd and now this!! They are really making some beautiful cars right now
This is a major win for the Toyota guys / Toyota enthusiast and the Toyota people that love the 90s Toyota. Now there’s no need in separating reliability and Performance with Toyota you can combine both
I swear every toyota video i s ee you hyping them, dude stop you sound cringy asf🤣. If you want real talk toyota has been late in the game.
@Paul even if it has toyota engine it will still sell the same but i agree 100% with you that they should use their own toyota engine and ditch that boxer crap. Look whats happening to it now with the rtv issues
Toyota knows in a couple years the EV psychosis will evaporate. They are setting themselves up to be the undisputed #1 car brand for the next 25 years with these cars and developing hydrogen ice engines. Mark my words. They know what they are doing. They are leading the future!
just waiting for that 30k Stealership price hikes😠
Love the D&B intro! Really an underrated genre!
Not really. Takes forever to spool from what iv seen. An Si probably has more potential than that 3 cylinder lol. It's cool but way overpriced. Not really practical.
Man, when you said price was good, I thought it was going to start with “2”! Dang it! I get that $35k is “cheap” today but still a lot of money. Cool that Toyota is building sports cars again! That’s the biggest win here!
Glad I got my civic before covid. 21k. No bs package mark up. Not even honda sensing back then.
I too love the fact that it's manual only, but a dual clutch option would be incredible.
Add 150% dealer mark up
This gave me 2017 RUclips vibes! Love the intro
Know the song by chance ?
Personally, I think the Corolla GR needs a 4 cylinder. A highly strung 3 cylinder is cool and all, but if Toyota used their “K20” equivalent powerplant, I would be ALL about this car.
Just me though.
This sounds better than most 4 cylinders lol
@@cosmic_gate476 Just personal preference. Im speaking from a point of "larger less stressed engine vs smaller higher-strung engine." Thats all.
@@TheRedrider05 Most owners are family people not tuners lol. I ordered the new Z cause I wanted a big engine with headroom and there are other options for that type of buyer.
A good video 📹

I’ll take my focus RS still
I really wanna get a GR Corolla, but that'll be in four years when I graduate from college and get a job. 😞
If you already made a video about I apologize for not finding it. Will you make a video showing heel toe shifting. 🤔 I do not own a manual shift car yet . I am considering my first after 29 years since I DESTROYED two transmissions in my 1980 something rabbit. All my favorite cars only come with a manual shift transmissions .

The car should be 35k fully loaded... the dealers are also going to try to mark these up as well so a base model will be 55k lmao theirs also no dct option even tho it's slow I like the way the regular corolla hatch looks over this one
👍👍 Thanks for watching

What are you talking about it. This is not going to ruin the hot hatch. Guaranteed this is going to outsell any Volkswagen hatch

Finally!!! Been waiting all day for this one!!!
Good review!
Tried to get my hands on one but the sales person pretty much laughed and said all *THREE* were accounted for already. Lol
Kill me.
I just got my GR and it’s an amazing driving experience. It will put a smile on your face.
Good transition on the gauge cluster David
I hope Toyota sells a lot we need to encourage these manufacturers to continue to make cars like these and Manuel car in general
Me- "Good afternoon. I'd like to buy a Corolla GR Core please."
Sales person- "Of course sir. We have one available. That will be $20,000 over sticker price please."
There are dealers out there that are doing MSRP only, no markups, no add ons. You just have to be willing to call around and have the conversation. I'm on 3 waiting lists right now and they are all between 5-9 hours drive away from me. (Surprisingly two are in Florida)
I will contact my local dealers at some point. The price gouging problem is so annoying though.
I used to have a 89 Corolla back in 2008 big difference.
People always hate the Prius. But when gas prices were at almost $5 a gallon I wasn't feeling a thing. I dive 100+ miles a day to work at 60 mpg I'm happy with my DD.
Patiently waiting for you to drop a video about the reveal of the s650 last night interested to hear your thoughts
These cars are so expensive though and they appeal to a younger demographic who can't shell out $50k.... $50k they will be with markups
Great video!
Loved the pegboard nerds intro 🫶🏻old school monstercat vibes nice choice David nice choice 👍🏻
Awesome intro and video altogether David👍🏼 I hope to own one of these in the future 😩😭
Not sure where he gets the idea that there's absolutely no competition for this car when the mk8 Golf R exists (which is also way quicker). Sure it doesn't have 3 AWD modes, and could use some buttons, but it's priced right at the circuit pack and is a far nicer place to be, a better DD for the 99% of the time you're not on track, and actually feels like you're in a 45-50k car.
There will also be a performance golf R which already has a crazy lap time in nurburgring. That one will be much more expensive I suppose
CELICA!!! ALL WE NEED IS THE CELICA BACK!!! WE WOULDN'T BE IN RALLY HERITAGE WITHOUT THE CELICA!!!!! CELICA!!!!!
Keep up the reviews bro love to see it!
I'm dying do see what the aftermarket does with this, and maybe another Gymkhana video with this little beast. It would really make my day or probably the year
"...the Hot Hatch Market"
Oh how I miss thee...
Imagine how awesome a Supra would have been if Toyota put the same effort they did in this GR Corolla into a Supra.
