I’ve learned using polarizer filters to stack on top of the ND filter for reflections and tinted windows when filming cars is also a must for crispy content
Hey logan! Great video! I have almost all the gear you have (just a different gimbal) and I have just one question. Would it be better to film in 4K24 or 4K30 for car videos. Thanks!
Thank you! Honestly it’s personal preference. You won’t notice much difference between the two. I like to shoot in 24fps to maintain as much motion blur and “soft image” as possible. Hope that helps!
Great video man! Really insightful too. Quick question, when using your Atomos monitor in 4K have you ever notice the picture may take a few seconds to show or is it just mine? Keep up the good work tho
Thank you! When I first turn it on it takes a few seconds to show the preview but then after that it runs smoothly with no delay. Could be a bad hdmi cable or make sure its a 4k hdmi cable if you have a delay. Hope that helps🤘
Love the video! Super helpful! Had a question about 4K vs 1080. I shoot 4k30fps and notice that every time I move left or right for shots there is a significant motion blur (while being at 1/60) and it doesn’t look so natural. Would it be the cam body? I’m shooting with a sigma 28-70 lens and a A7R3
I think that's totally normal. If the body is moving you get that blur vs the subject moving. 60fps is a lot smoother. When I shoot if I am moving compared to my subject I'll shoot in 60fps. If my subject is ill shoot in 30fps.
I would recommend the Moza Air 2 or the Ronin-SC. Those are both under $400 and you can add extended arms to each for another $50-$100 I believe. You might not get perfect stabilization out of them but for the price they do amazing.
@@LoganGoodfellow Oh okay, something like this then? www.amazon.com/MOZA-Handheld-Stabilizer-Mirrorless-Auto-Turning/dp/B08D3NGWD5/ref=dp_fod_2?pd_rd_i=B08D3NGWD5&psc=1
Yup, that was actually the first gimbal I had. Still have it and its been through a lot and still works great so its very durable! Like I said it won't be as stable as the Ronin-M I was using in the video, but I think its a fantastic gimbal if you are starting out. And it will still get the job done just fine👍🏼
I have a canon t7i. I have no experience for cinematic car shooting. My Supra is about to be done and I need to shoot a sick video. I have no idea what lenses or gear to get because there’s so much out there! I don’t fully understand the aperture stuff when choosing a lense, do you have any reccomendations to what I do? Also great vid 👍
Yeah for sure it’s very complicated trying to figure it all out at first. I would recommend a 24-70 F2.8 lense. That is the best lense for filming cars as you can shoot wide shots as well as close ups without having to switch lenses. They also offer that same lense but in a F4 which is a lot cheaper. There are pros and cons to both. But like I said, if you have the money the 2.8 is ideal. You can DM me on Instagram and I can explain it more in depth if you want @logangoodfellow1
If you have an Ronin RS-2 gimbal this would work great (screws into one of the arms) - amzn.to/3y8sKha Or If you have the Ronin - M this mount would be great - amzn.to/3y4AkJW
I have since upgraded to the FX-3, but I still own and use my A7III quite often. I still absolutely love the camera and would definitely recommend it for the price point it’s at!
I leave my focus mode on 'Auto' then for the focus area I usually do 'Flexible Spot'. This way I am able to select exactly where I want the focus and that also helps limit focus shifting. You should be able to go into your settings and there should be a focus option that has all these settings.🤘
Hi logan just found put your channel i really like your colour on your videos would you please share some of the tips how i can get it and keep it consistently
Thank you! So I learned a lot about color grading from a youtuber named “James Matthews” he has a lot of good color grading tutorials you can watch and hopefully help!
@@LoganGoodfellow appreciated i have subscribed your channel. I am working on my very first RUclips video, if you have any tips would be appreciated too
I’m coming from motorsport photography on a professional level and now switching to video and I haven’t felt this lost in years lol

Sick video man 👌, what picture profile were you using?
Appreciate your video. You've given me a perspective on what in need to do.
Glad it was helpful!

Quality video brother! New sub!
Thanks man, appreciate it!🤙🏽
thank you really good Video
one thing would have been nice if you would have talked about Focus
soo you used autofocus becuase no problem for sony
Yes I use auto focus as manual focus for a shoot like this would require a focus puller which I don’t have lol
Autofocusing while filming? Is this something we should do or set the focus and then move to capture the shot?
Auto focus is definitely the best option for solo filming!

What mode do you use for your gimbal?
Awesome video
Is there a rig similar to the Ronin you used? I've only seen one cheap-o one on Amazon under $200.

Hello. How did you mount the shinobiatmos screen to the gimbal?
If you have an Ronin RS-2 gimbal this would work great (screws into one of the arms) - amzn.to/3y8sKha
Or
If you have the Ronin - M this mount would be great - amzn.to/3y4AkJW
you still using the A7III bro? Im thinking of getting one for cars videos

Bro great tips! I wanna try this now
Thank you man!🙏 You should it's definitely a good time!
How do you capture the sound of the car without wind noise or other things
You could try sound design
What focus area do you recommend for shooting rollers?
I’ve found “flexible spot” works the best for me! I just keep the focus box in the middle of the screen for the most part then adjust it accordingly.
Yo how do you film in the trunk, like harness etc
Would a a6400 work for something like this since it doesn’t have ibis?
do you shot in automatic or manual focus?
How to set your focus mode?

how do you get rid off wind noise?
Hi I'm French , And I use sony a7iii , weebill s and Ronin M .
You turn on or off your steadyshot on a7iii when you shoot ?
Hey👋🏼 yes, I always have steady shot on!

Awsome! I shoot on the ronin sc with dual handle grips. Let’s me hold it from the top like the ronin m!
I have the SC as well.. how smooth did the footage come out? What speed were you going?
@@itsreinfit3143 you can check out my Instagram @endless.media.images
It’s a good amount of content all filmed with that setup.
Hey which framerate?
24 FPS or anything close to that is the best!
@3:26 😂😂
Nice Video !!! Maybe you can Show us How to Balance and set the Motor Settings for the Ronin M😅
How do you safely sit in the trunk without falling out?
Wear a harness that is connected to something solid in the vehicle is the best option!
can I shot this with latest iPhone 😅😅😅😅
You’d be surprised with what you can do with the newer phones, Low lighting not so much
and focos? is track, zone ....
my A7III can not even shoot in 120 lol, just 50 & 100
You are using PAL format, just change it to NTSC
Then you will get 24,30,60
A 3 year old camera that only shoots 8 bit footage is not a “beast” and 4k isn’t that special.
If it looks good, it looks good. Stop crying about specs, and this is coming from a RED user with 16bits...
"best affordable gimbal"
1000 fuckin dollars dude wtf
Yes brand new they are pricey! But you can get a used one for $300-400 for one in good condition. I should have clarified better in the video.
Pro tip: when you talk show good examples of the video instead of your face and sideways videos. What is this tinder
