Ray, Truly awesome footage! I am just beginning my adventure into doing video and I found this very inspiring.... The low level of your camera is perfect and with natures camouflage of the chicks and eggs makes this just awesome! Thanks for sharing the adventure with us.... Greg
This is an incredible footage Ray! I have some questions if you don't mind. Are you using a PT hub, bescor MP-101 or something similar? How long does it take for these terns to come back to the nest after you are done setting up everything?
Thanks for the comment. I have never even heard of the equipment you mentioned. I'm just using my regular still photography setup which is a ground pod with a basic pan/tilt head on it. It really sucks for any video that requires movement but I don't do video that often. The terns don't usually leave the nest when I crawl in but occasionally the entire flock takes flight (likely predator fly-by) or another person walks by, or they interact with the partner bird. They aren't off the nest for more than 30 seconds to a minute in most cases, they return very quickly.
@@RayHennessy Now I am even more impressed by your ability to blend in. The birds behave so naturally that I was convinced you were using some form of remote controls.
@@comeraczy2483 thanks, these birds are always pretty chill when you lay down on the beach and will hang out right near you without being disturbed as long as you don't move.
This is excellent! Can't believe I never saw it before. They are one of my favorite birds.
Glad you found it and enjoyed it Tina!

Beautiful footage, it shows the bond between the parents and chicks for survival. . .
