Great stuff. I especially liked that young “bone” player in Lombardo’s last New Years Eve.

Dave, The young Trombone player is Hunter Fuerste, who lives in Dubuque, Iowa and currently performs with his American Vintage Orchestra (Big Band). Hunter left the Royal Canadians to pursue a career in medicine, becoming one of the country's top ophthalmologists. Before joining the Royal Canadians, he worked with Dick Jurgens. When he was with Guy Lombardo, he was 22 years old.

Hi Dave, These clips came from tapes recorded at the Willowbrook Ballroom in Willow Springs, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago). Back before high speed internet was a thing for everyone, I recorded these clips to share online. They had to be small in size to easily download. The tapes that these clips came from have been long worn out. However, I have the original reels and need to find someone to transfer those reels to a digital format for me.

Ty Lemley must have come in sometime before Carmens' death

Daniel, Ty Lemley joined the Royal Canadians in the Summer of 1969. His audition took place at Jones Beach. Carmen was still alive but was missing from the band more and more due to his lung cancer diagnosis. On the Capitol album "Is That All There Is?," recorded LIVE at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, Carmen is playing in the Sax section and Ty Lemley is playing Guitar and singing. That album was released in 1970. Carmen died in April of 1971. His last appearance with the band was in January of 1971 when the band was appearing in Florida.
