    Hi Ben! I like what you said about how it's "ok" if your knee joint moves forward over your toes while doing squats or lunges. I grew up doing lunges and squats without regard to how far my knee joint moved over my toes. That was in the 1970s and 80s. In the 1990s (and ever since then), I was then taught to NOT move my knees forward over my toes while doing squats or lunges. I found that doing squats the latter way was more difficult, meaning I had to use a lighter weight. THANK YOU for your videos!

    Thank you so much for sharing this and helping out with my question, it makes so much sense and can't believe all of those 'workouts' I have wasted with poor technique. Really appreciate it and your seminar was definitely the best thing I took away from the weekend! Looking forward to following your videos and learning more!

      +Stephanie Reynolds You already look great and have obviously dedicated a ton of hours to building your physique. Once you're able to implement these techniques to better activate your hips in the squat, you're going to truly bring everything into balance and really take things to the next level. Congrats.

    But if you squat with your knees far over your toes, you can injure yourself and put a lot of stress in anterior cruciate ligament, or correct me if am wrong?

    • @bballboarder019
      @bballboarder019 8 лет назад +2

      +takeuno1 For squats, it depends on the bar path. At the bottom of a squat, you want the bar directly over your ankles. If the bar is in front of your ankles, then you can bet your knees will feel a lot of stress. You want the hips and glutes to take on the stress by keeping your weight in the heels and not losing tension at the bottom of the squat. Hope this helps!

    • @TSCsREFLEX
      @TSCsREFLEX 6 лет назад +1

      I push out my knees when I get deep into the squat. So no I wouldn't think it's an issue. It's gonna be near impossible to keep a vertical shin while doing deep squats.

    I was taught not to put my knees over the top of my toes. That it's very bad on your knee joint.

      Haha! That is hilarious, you calling me out on tiny bit of grammar when you do not know what you talking about in regards to exercise. It is like you have learned to drive a car and now telling everyone how to be an F1 racing driver, but thanks for getting low down with a personal insult rather than addressing the issues. Muscles do not switch on and switch off. Muscles work in maximal effort because of origin and insertion not gravitational balance. In a golf swing the hands are furthest away from gravitation balance but it is the hips doing the work so there is your theory debunked. So rather than personal insults let's talk about actual fact and knowledge, i find it a good thing to learn more. Just because i have flew a plane i don't going round telling people how to be a jet pilot.
