Thank you so much Paul!! I called them because my garage door was not staying down-shut, it would touch the ground and go right back up, and it was as he said as simple as moving the little travel-knob just a bit down and it worked!! You are amazing I cannot thank you enough!
Finally, a worthy video that actually shows the details that we all need instead of some basic things that we already had figured out on our own..... thanks so much for the thorough and informative video. You helped a lot!
Thank you!! My husband and I replaced the rubber seal on the bottom of our garage door and we must have knocked the sensor out of place. You saved us from calling a tech!
Thank you All-Pro Quality Garage Doors! For over a week my garage door has been able to life by remote control yet it would not go down by remote control. After watching your video, I aligned one sensor, waited for the green light to illuminate and just like that, my headache was gone! What an was fix! Thank you!!! thank you!!! Thank you!!!
I'm an older woman. Gotta tell you that you did such a great job with your video, it took me about 3 seconds to fix my garage door! You are awesome and I thank you.
This is the best home improvement video. This man deserves a huge check! I just watched his video and was able to fix our garage door in a a few minutes! What a wonderful instructor!
Thank you. I watched the first part, I have a Chamberland drive. My cause was a broke wire to the amber sensor, which caused the green LED not to work also. This saved me alot of money since I repaired it myself. Thanks again.
Came home went to close garage door. I got the 10 blinks. I was able to hold the button on the remote to power close it. Your video was on the money. Fixed in less than 5 mins. Thank you so much
Thanks so much!! I watched at least 8 videos on how to fix this issue, and yours was the first with the actual solution. My light was green, but it still wasn't closing. Your movement test was the key that everyone else missed. 👍🏻👍🏻
I just knocked my receiving IR sensor out of alignment and was able to fix it in less than a minute thanks to this video. Thanks for the great explanation!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Your video saved the day, and probably a repair bill as well!! :) Forever grateful!!! I'm a 66 year old woman, and feeling enpowered again ::)
Thank you for the information. I have issue with my garage door today, barely going down and have to hold the button to close it shut all the way. I will try and troubleshoot later today when i get home and will apply your tips. 😊😊
I swept the garage and the broom knocked one of the sensors out of alignment when I was cleaning dust and dirt around a sensor. When I was finished the door would not properly closed. I saw one light was on and the other off. I watched some other videos and thought I might need to buy a new sensor to replace the sensor which did not have the light on. But then I saw your video and solution became clear. I adjusted the sensor with the light off until the light went on. Wow... the problem was solved. Thank you! Thank you!
I just saw you video went out saw the light flicking adjusted it and wow...the door is working!!! Thank you so much. Now I don't need my son-in-law to fix it.
Great Video! Thank you. Had issue after moving some items around in garage and accidentally disconnected the tiny wire harness on my old Genie Screw Drive sensor. Door would not close with remotes and had to hold down wall button and even then the door would stop 80% down and go back up. I disconnected all the small connector harnesses from each sensor and made sure to reconnect them snug. Did the same to the harness at the unit and made sure the sensors were aligned like you showed here. Works Fine now, you saved an easy $80 bucks to have someone come out and look at this. Thanks again.
Thank you! This helped me fix my parents’ garage door after some movers knocked the sensor out of place. We had no idea why, after they left, the garage door wouldn’t close.
Great detailed video. Light started flicking when trying to bring the door down from the wall switch and not responding from the clickers, checked the sensors and yes!!! Somehow the sensor that has the green light got disalligned so moved, cleaned off the dust and the door is working fine again. Thank you!!!!
Luis Aparicio.... that’s fantastic! If you hadn’t figured out that problem on your own it would have cost you some $$. Glad to see you got it working again with just a minor adjustment!
Thank you. You just saved me some $$$. The light keep blinking and door wouldn't close. Had no idea about 2 lights on the bottom (single female, lol) so I found 1 light was out. Jiggled the wires, light back on, door closes. Thanks to you 😚
Normally you'd match the colors, but it's not to say they can't be wrong, so start with black to black and white to white and if it doesn't work then flip flop em.
Thank you for your video. The safety sensors on my craftsman door opener are aligned. One solid green and the other solid amber but the door will not close. A few days a go, when this problem started, it would get very close to closing and would reverse itself before doing so, but now its gotten worse and reverses itself after a few inches of operation. There is nothing even close to the door to prevent it from going up. Seems like the sensors are operating properly, what do you suggest I try next? Thanks
1DavidStarr1 I would get the remote control in one and then get down on your hands and knees right up close to the beam with the green light and watch it VERY closely sometimes it flickers so fast you can't see it from a standing position. If the light bulb on your craftsman isn't flashing when the door reverses then it might not even have anything to do with the beams, check you force control dials to make sure they are atleast on 5-7.
I adjusted the downward force, cleaned and readjusted the sensors, lubricated the rollers, hinges, and rail and now my door closes without any problems. The Crafstman garage door openers have a light code that flashes indicating a problem and a correction with the use of the owners manual. Thank you for your help.
Very thorough explanation and demonstration on how the IR beams work, what affects them and how to remedy!!! What about when the sun interferes with IR beams when trying to close the door. I have done some miraculous moves to block the sun and still get the door to go down without me getting caught on inside of door nor the blocking matter "caught in door"..which would mean it still won't close. Any tips?
Hmmm... now that's a great question! First off you have to be sure it's the beams that are the culprit, if the light bulb in the motorhead flashes roughly ten times after trying to operate it then yes..it's the beams, so I would recommend switching sides. Put the one on the left of the garage...on the right side and vise versa. Or you could call your favorite Garagy guy and i'm quite sure he can do it for ya!
I must admit. You got me re-educated with your response. Silly me, didn't think to switch them. For years deal with the issue of sun blocking beam.. and it is on the same side each time when I remedy it my way. Thank for sharing your practical expertise. Will put my favorite garagy guy on hold this time... use him for a more compelling matter! Thanks All-Pro!
just recently hooked mine back up after finishing the garage. Everything hooked up properly no wire issues, its a newer kit only 2 years old. One solid red and one solid green. Everything to me says it should be going down however, door only goes down about a 1 foot then stops and goes back up. Nothing in the way and no other reason for this "issue" that i can find. Any thoughts?
it’s probably a force control issue, you’ll need to turn up the power of the machine or re-profile it if it’s an electronic force machine. Ck the instruction manual or google how to adjust the force.
I have a Genie auto garage door opener model 404. Can I install a eye-beam motion sensor and auto preset timer closer on this old model? My door is a wood 1 panel old fashion door. Can it be done?
Cindy Shin short answer... no. That opener is early to mid 70s, not only can you not adapt modern technology to it but you can’t even get repair parts for it period. Totally obsolete in all aspects.
Appreciate your prompt response! I also have another garage door which has a Genie Pro Screw Drive, but again we are using a one panel wood garage door which seems to be a problem for MyQ. Can I use LiftMaster 888LM, timer closer remote? Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. I was able to align sensors to get the red to stop blinking. But, when I tried to take the door out of manual mode I couldn’t get it to reconnect. Finally got a ladder and realized pulling the cord toward the door wasn’t enough to re-engage. I pushed it opposite direction...toward the motor and it’s back to automatic mode. Thx again for your help!!
Thanks for the video. What if the photo eyes are aligned okey (both have steady lights), but the door still stops about 10 inches from the floor and goes back up? What would be the cause for this? Thank you.
also check out this link, January's garage door tip of the month, it's a common problem after it rains, and if you have this problem and just give the machine more power it could damage the door. www.allproqgd.com/tip-of-the-month/
i've checked, one side yellow light one side green light, very solid, but still wont close totally, opening up again while almost reach the bottom and the light above clicks several times and silenced. the door was just attached with insulation foam, will that be the reason it wont close properly?
No, you’re problem is strictly related to the beams. They might be solid now but when the door goes down to the point where it reverses something pushes them out of alignment.
I bought my house new, so check to see if the tracks shake. Turned out, the tracks weren't screwed in properly, so a simple 5 minute job to rescue them in and the problem is fixed
Thanks for the information. I have a genie and noticed that the white wire was cut and the genie won't come on. Also the red and green lights are both out. I needed my garage door rails fixed because the spring had not been serviced. I had a few guys come out and take a look at the door rails and I believe the 1st man who came out. pulled the white wire out of the area where the red/green light was. After he left I noticed the red and green lights were out. They were not out until he took a look at the door to give me a quote on how much it would cost to fix the rails that support the lifting of the garage door. I was told by a garage door company that the genie could not be fixed. I thought it was because of the white wire being disconnected. The genie is 2 yrs old. It has not be used because of the bent rails that needed to be replaced. Am I correct or Am I wrong.
m$etrinityredbranch well I’m not exactly sure what you’re referring to when you say “rails” but what i can tell you is that if you’re genie is only two yrs old then it can be fixed. Call 1-800-ok-genie give them the info and they should be able to send an authorized tech to your house instead of these riff-raff.
Is there a way to use a pair at 6" or lower and a pair higher to protect vehicles that may be parked halfway in the garage with the beam going under them? That's a great way to damage a vehicle, and it happens all the time.
Josh Ya Thats a fantastic question!! I suppose that might depend on the brand of machine and whether or not the transformer inside can handle a little extra voltage. I will try it soon!
Any knows why my garage door its moving up or down only if i keep pressing the buttons box ? Normally if i was pressing the button goes all the way up and vise versa. Any idea why now i need to keep pressing ???
What if my genie sensors neither one lights up , but I can open the door by holding down on the open button. The garage door opens with remote but I have to hold down the button on wall to shut?
Holding down the wallbutton is a factory over ride when your sensors are not working, and most mfgs have that. Safety sensors do not have any effect on the up cycle… that’s why your remote works to open the door. The fact is…you have a sensor problem 100%
my receiving light is on and also they red and green light on the indicator is on ...the garage makes the sound like it wants to go up/down but it's not moving...fortunately I am able to open and close the garage manually...what do u think this could be?
i have paid for two different service calls and they tell me that I need a new opener...however...when its not hot, humid and over 85-90 degrees and after the sun comes off the front of the garage door it works fine....its like the metal door swells or something because in the winter it works just fine on a cooler day it works just fine, once the sun moves off the front of the house (it faces east) it is a prepainted door, I thought perhaps I needed to paint it...just dont know why or if that would help and it doesnt need it in the winter ? Any ideas?
Well Linda, I doubt you need a new opener. Worse case maybe just new camera's, I would start methodically with where the wires screw into the machine and ck the connections, make sure they are snug, pull gently on the two sets of wires to make sure they aren't connected but broken, then I would follow the wires to each camera and make sure the staples aren't cutting the wire or pinching them. When the temperature changes houses expand and contract and sometimes it's just enough for a staple to contact both wires and short it out then when it's cool it works again. next thing to ck is that both cameras are completely out of the sun light, when it's hot outside and the door won't go down does the camera with the green LED on it blink or flutter? is the amber light on the other side lit as well? I have seen instances where both cameras are lit and yet they are bad and need to be replaced. If that's the case ck Amazon, they should have them. If by chance you have a brand other than Liftmaster then ck the wires especially if they screw into the back of the camera clean the screws and maybe strip some fresh wire if you see any green corrosion around the terminals. Try that and let me know.
3 seasons out of the year the door/opener works just fine, the garage door faces east once the sun is off the front of the house it works fine. like today from 10am -2pm the door wouldnt close, but since2 door has worked just fine. Dont know what to do to fix this issue. Ever heard of this
the door is closed and then my son leaves during the heat of the day any time between 10-2 , door goes up and with in 2-3 minutes when he pushes the button on the remote, the door wont go down. The cameras are in the same place all year round but it seems that the heat and temp are the common denominator
Hello! Thanks for your video. My garage door does not stay closed. It goes all the way down but as soon as it touches the concrete floor, it goes back up again fully open. Can you help?
My sister's door opener has caused us several problems. An old Sears model was replaced with Lift Master last winter. Paid today for a service call. (I'd asked her if she checked the sensors, but did not get a clear answer.) She was telling me that if she held the button the door would go up and down. So i thought it might not be the sensors, but sure enough the little coupling that joins two wires had come loose from vibration or something. I felt pretty dumb that I did not figure this out for her. I noticed your (coiled) wiring does not use these connectors. Is it worthwhile to pay someone to rewire this system for her? Thanks for a very good demonstration!
Tim Kennedy Liftmaster sensors don’t come with a “coupling” ever... whoever installed it must have cut the wires and coupled them together because Liftmaster sensor wires come out of the sensor and are supposed to go all the way to the machine without a cut or break. However if done properly I don’t see any reason to pay someone to come out and do what the original installer should have done in the first place...and what the second guy that came out recently should have fixed.
Well it was covered under a home warranty and the installer put in the new opener last winter (now that I say this I am uncertain that it is actually a Lift Master--I will have to look at it next time I am over there), but did not replace the wiring except to install a new inside button. Today he merely re-coupled the wires & stapled them away from the sensor holder and the flange they were sitting on. I'm hoping this fixes the problem, but at least I know where to look next time. I wish I could have hired you, but we live in the Midwest not California. Thanks!
sequoia huerta It could very well be going bad but before you replace anything try the easy stuff first, check to see if the wires screw into the camera, if they do then unscrew the wires and check for corrosion, if the copper wires don't look clean then clip the ends and strip some fresh copper wire and re-screw the wires back down that usually solves the problem... liftmaster safety beams are pretty good quality. If that doesn't work do the same at the motorhead making sure the contacts where the wire screws into the machine are solid and not hanging loosely around the terminals. Let me know how it goes.
@@jo_josi_si It usually will be wiring related like a loose wire at the motorhead or the amber led camera is dead and if that one is not transmitting then the green led one will be out as well because it only lights up if it’s getting a signal from the amber camera. They are only sold in pairs anyway, so swap em both if the wiring looks good.
My LiftMaster sensors (newer models) were under water when Hurricane Irma hit NE Florida... Now the door ain't workin'. One sensor has the green LED on, but the other doesn't. My first question is: "Are these little units water tight?" Sure looks like they are... I don't see any seams where water could penetrate. Anybody know? Thanks for this video and an answer! ;-)
This gentleman has made my life easier. He explains everything in clear detail, speaks slowly and makes me feel that I can do it. Great!

Finally got a ladder and realized pulling the cord toward the door wasn’t enough to re-engage. I pushed it opposite direction...toward the motor and it’s back to automatic mode. Thx again for your help!!
Hey! Thanks guy your video just saved me hundreds of dollars! Had it fixed in a minute flat thanks again!
Excellent!!! 👍🏽👍🏽
i took my sensors out of the garage door bracket and did my own sturdy makeshift bracket and hooked it on a wooden makeshift pole. It never moves.
Thanks man! Easy fix! Didnt have to wait for my husband or anything and I learned something new. All aligned!
Booya!!!! 👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks for the video.
What if the photo eyes are aligned okey (both have steady lights), but the door still stops about 10 inches
from the floor and goes back up?
What would be the cause for this? Thank you.
Then you would adjust your force control and that gives the machine more power to push the door all the way down
Thanks for the reply. Will try that.
also check out this link, January's garage door tip of the month, it's a common problem after it rains, and if you have this problem and just give the machine more power it could damage the door.

Finally an easy turorial video that actually works, Thank you so much🙏
Glad it was understandable and helped you out! thanks for watching 👍🏽👍🏽
My lift master was not working, just lights flicking, saw your video checked sensors and tada door working.......thanks!
Excellent!! RUclips to the rescue again!
i've checked, one side yellow light one side green light, very solid, but still wont close totally, opening up again while almost reach the bottom and the light above clicks several times and silenced. the door was just attached with insulation foam, will that be the reason it wont close properly?
No, you’re problem is strictly related to the beams. They might be solid now but when the door goes down to the point where it reverses something pushes them out of alignment.
Chamberlain built, Anaheim garage door openers, correct
This helped me take care the problem. Thank you, Sir.
Great video. How can I get in touch with wanna learn more from you
I bought my house new, so check to see if the tracks shake. Turned out, the tracks weren't screwed in properly, so a simple 5 minute job to rescue them in and the problem is fixed
Thank you sir, you have made my early morning better, I was thinking how to get my garage door fixed.
Glad to be of service my friend!!
You just save my day with your video
Happy 2020
Thanks for this. Helped me out and learned something new in the process.
Do you know who built access master garage door opener‘s
chamberlain
@@ALLProGarageDoors ok
@@ALLProGarageDoors in the video the First set of sensors that you show are generation one, and the second set our generation two
My garage door would not close but once I aligned the sensor it closed without a problem. Thank you so much for such an informative video.
Glad it all worked out for you! 👍🏽
Can you over ride the cameras I don’t want to use them this is on a new chamberlain??
Clifford Fluegge .....no you can’t bypass the cameras.
Thank you! Problem solved in 2 minutes 👏🏼
Thank you , I just used your information and was able to fix my problem with my garage not going down when I hit the but thank you very much
Thank you! Such an easy fix. A tiny leaf was blocking the sensor!!
I've seen leaves block them many times... the leaves stick to spider webs and then to the sensor!
@@ALLProGarageDoors With COVID 19 I didn't need to have to deal with a broken garage door. Many thanks!
Any knows why my garage door its moving up or down only if i keep pressing the buttons box ? Normally if i was pressing the button goes all the way up and vise versa. Any idea why now i need to keep pressing ???
possibly the force control on the machine or you have a broken spring on the door.
Carolyn Price what brand and model of machine do you have?
the genuine overhead door (red ribbon logo)
i have paid for two different service calls and they tell me that I need a new opener...however...when its not hot, humid and over 85-90 degrees and after the sun comes off the front of the garage door it works fine....its like the metal door swells or something because in the winter it works just fine on a cooler day it works just fine, once the sun moves off the front of the house (it faces east) it is a prepainted door, I thought perhaps I needed to paint it...just dont know why or if that would help and it doesnt need it in the winter ?
Ever heard of this
Get the cameras out of the direct sunlight.
the door is closed and then my son leaves during the heat of the day any time between 10-2 , door goes up and with in 2-3 minutes when he pushes the button on the remote, the door wont go down. The cameras are in the same place all year round but it seems that the heat and temp are the common denominator
Pull the cameras loose and tape em facing each other above the motor
Thanks for helping me think through my garage door situation
No problem friend.
This video saved me $125.00 bucks and tax, thanks so much for posting this.
Nosh Hed excellent!!! 👍🏻
Hello! Thanks for your video. My garage door does not stay closed. It goes all the way down but as soon as it touches the concrete floor, it goes back up again fully open. Can you help?
Back off on the "down" limit using the "travel adjustment" until the door stays shut.
Also make sure your force control is around 5 to 7.
My Sears garage door opener is opening the door at random on its own, why ?
Thank you! Fixed it in like 1 minute! 🎉
Thank you! Such a life saver. Couldn't close my door for days! You are awesome!
Thanks Addison! Glad to be able to help out!! 👍🏽
Can water makes a photo eye go bad and stop working, the sensor is still lit green but red light keeps flashing.
Tracy Berry absolutely! Moisture and or water is one of the biggest reasons for photo eye failure.
Thanks a million, super helpful! Your step by step instructions are great!
No problem Moises, glad to be able to help out! 👍🏽
Do both lights have to be green ? Because one is green and one is yellow
1-amber and 1-green is correct just make sure the green is solid green.
Thanks!
Tim Kennedy No problem Tim.... maybe your right and it’s not even a Liftmaster. I think your wiring should be ok if the last guy left it working. 👍🏻
what if the sending side is blinking? Could that mean it is faulty and how long do these sensors last?
sequoia huerta It could very well be going bad but before you replace anything try the easy stuff first, check to see if the wires screw into the camera, if they do then unscrew the wires and check for corrosion, if the copper wires don't look clean then clip the ends and strip some fresh copper wire and re-screw the wires back down that usually solves the problem... liftmaster safety beams are pretty good quality. If that doesn't work do the same at the motorhead making sure the contacts where the wire screws into the machine are solid and not hanging loosely around the terminals. Let me know how it goes.
Great video. Just what I was looking for. Very clear explanation. Thank you.
my chamberlain opiener wont close electric eyes are lite and if you hold down on wall button it still wont close any idea
how far does it move?
No idea why but it happened again around 1:30 am this morning! Help !!
My sensor on the left is yellow and the one on the right is green. What does that mean? I have a Lift Master
God'sWayDetroit if both lights are lit then it means your good to go! They are made like that with one amber light and one green.

Thank you for the informative video. It saved me service call. Took me about 10 mts to fix the beams as shown in the video. Thanks so much!
CAE Engineers, LLC. No problem CAE .... thats why we’re here, easy fix for sure, glad to help out.
What if sensor wire is pulled at the top of opener ?
rare but it could happen, put the wire back and all should work again.
Mine is a similar genie-like yours and I'm having that same issue now. I am going again to have another look at it.
Thank you for the informative instructions. U just saved me some money and frustration!
That’s the plan!!
@@ALLProGarageDoors can u tell me what if neither unit has a light on. Thank you
@@jo_josi_si It usually will be wiring related like a loose wire at the motorhead or the amber led camera is dead and if that one is not transmitting then the green led one will be out as well because it only lights up if it’s getting a signal from the amber camera.
Thanks for this video and an answer! ;-)
Jeffrey Lear no they are not water tight at all and if you don't see the LED light then its dead, replace both sensors and you should be fine.
Thank you for your quick reply... I'm ordering from Amazon... ;-)
Jeffrey Lear no problem, i got your phone message after i sent a reply. Good luck with clean up buddy!
