I agree! Every bike I have owned had something I disliked. The Wing, yes the air filter is a bear, it I made sure to plan other work while I had everything apart. I did the air filter a few months ago, and changed the coolant as well as clean up some wiring that was not done the best when I installed it. I made my service task productive, and reminded myself a few times during the task that I saved the cost of labor doing it myself.

    • @BootsandJeansRiders
      @BootsandJeansRiders  4 месяца назад +1

Yeah, you did it right...( plan other work while I had everything apart). I think our dealer sain they were charging $600 to change the air filter. With two wings, we saved $1200. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.

The way the trunk box opens would drive me nuts, too. On my Voyager it opens sideways and I love it. I had to laugh at your description about taking half the bike apart to repair something that has nothing to do with what you are trying to get at. Man, I can relate. I always joke with GloChix about how the first step in opening the gas cap is removing the front tire...hahahaha.

@@BootsandJeansRiders Always! Well, almost always, the ONLY bike I ever had that I hated a lot more than I liked it was a later 70s AMF period HD Electra Glide. That thing kept breaking down, and needed almost constant repair. It turned me off to Harley so much that I haven't bought one since I sold that one back in 80, or 81. I know that they say they have improved, but I just can't get that taste out of my mouth, as it were.

I have always admired the Goldwings and have considered getting one someday. I was aware of the extensive plastic removal required for maintenance, but since I usually take my bike in for service, I didn't think it would be a big deal. However, with my Harley Davidson Road King, I am beginning to handle simple maintenance tasks myself (avoiding the engine, of course) because I am tired of paying the high service fees.
Learning to service your own bike is challenging, especially for beginners. The additional complexity of the Goldwing, with its extensive disassembly requirements, means more time spent on maintenance and less time riding. While I am not ruling out the possibility of owning a Goldwing in the future, the maintenance aspect is a significant consideration.
Great video! I am confident the video will perform well. Thank you for your honest insights. It would be great to hear about the top five (or however many) things you love about the Goldwing. Take care and stay safe!

    • @BootsandJeansRiders

Yeah Jose...The service fees make you want to DIY. The Wing requires very little maintenance, but it's a pain when the time comes to do it.
Don't know if I will do a top - reason I love it. May be a Looong video lol.
(On another note) We are thinking about doing an overnight ride to Bridgeport CA. heading over Sonora Pass. If we do, I'll send out an email with details.

I have looked in depth into the Gen 6, and continue to follow this generation. However with all the things I like
with the new Gen 6, I have quite a lengthy list of what for me at least, I don't like. I just don't get the spark or excitement
to want one. Talk about plastic and air filter changes! "Top of the list" and I could go on and on. The Gen 6 phenomenal

I agree with you, Rich. I have a 08 only audio. Only good thing I think about that is less things to break.
Mostly ride with the wife on back. I love it when she says, show them what this wing will do. Rock solid at 125. Also dbl dark with run flat, that saved me when the valve stem cracked. No explosions yet. Whoever says they can't corner with a CT, never tried I guess. I love roundabouts, when the pegs start scraping I found my lean angle. These are incredible bikes.
Now let's talk about the sound system. Radio sucks... bluethooth is the way to go. Most radio stations now broadcast on line. Along with there other HD channels. If that dont work there is spotify. Wing has a 3 ohm, not 4 or 8 ohm system. So, if you have 3 ohms in front 4 in the back. The path of lease resistance, the back will not get as loud as the front. You can try to fade it, but your killing the db level. Get 4 identical 3 ohm speakers, to match the oem honda amp. If I told you the brand I put in you would laugh, but they Rock. I can have a concert at any speed. Now you can not get chest thumping base out of 4 inch speakers. Its impossible! But you can get good sound. I=E/R

Yeah, I compared the trunk and speakers to other brands, but everything else are my dislikes. A like video would take about an hour lol. Thanks for watching.

On the first 3 Generations of the Goldwing the Air Filter can be changed in less than Two Minutes.

I think the one thing that Goldwings and Spyders have in common is how ugly both are without their tupperware 😳😵 Cover up the bikes with plastic and they look amazing 😁👍👍

Yeah, Wayne I agree. The skeleton looks a mess. The good thing is...the Tupperware is easier to clean. lol

Gday mate all fair points some of them well annoy you but maybe not so much others i do agree with the air filter i have watched heaps of vlogs on changing it and boy there is a heap of crap to take off especially if you have added accessories ,now i don't own a goldwing yet maybe soon though and i like to see owners views on what they think of there machines , can you imagine how much this would weigh if it had metal parts instead of plastic yes things break but i don't think honda had it designed to go down dirt roads either ,maybe go see a plastic welder for you broken bit . With your paint maybe ceramacoat it give a bit mor protection against scratching .I watched a video that would put jerry paledinos bagging of goldwings to shame this guy threw the wing around like a toy very experienced rider it was in the u.s.a of all places in a harley parking lot anyway good to hear your opinion on things that annoy you take care .

When I ride 2 up on the Ultra Classic with my Husband I have to move forward a smidge for him to get into the tour pack. On yours I definitely would have to get off the bike. 😊

Hey Karen, fortunately we rarely ride 2 up or carry a seat bag. I wish GW start making the tour pack open sideways. Thanks for watching and have a wonderful day.
