@@lisademayo8589 thank you for sharing. I was going crazy thinking that my hands were just weak and dry and I’ve had so many comments letting me know that that’s not always the problem!
I couldn't find my suction cup but you gave me an idea. I grabbed a wide rubber band and put it between the AirTag and my fingers. That give me enough grip to turn it.
@@earlmorrison5872 I’m so glad it worked for you. When I did the video I wondered if anyone had trouble getting the cover off like me. Welcome to the club!!!
You're the best! I've spent the better part of a week trying to get this damn cover off. I didn't have a suction cup, but what I did have is a velcro strip that holds an ez-tag for a transponder on a window. Stuck it on, turned, viola! Instant success! Thanks!
Thank you! This totally worked for me. I was struggling with mine. Turned out it was turned clockwise, but didn’t unseat. The little handle on the suction cup makes the process so easy! Look around your house, you probably already have one.
Huge thanks. First AirTag was easy to open! The next 2 my gosh, couldn’t do it, tried to use a jar lid opener, which other people recommended. Found your video didn’t have a small suction cup, but I did have a larger one and that did the trick anyway. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
This trick can also be used for hard to remove light bulbs and more. As soon as I figured out, "if you can get a grip on it, then try the suction cup"! Glad you will pass the idea on!
Thank you I came to your RUclips video to learn how to open the keychain adapters thanks for showing us how to change the batteries on these things too much appreciated
I’m so glad it helped you. I felt a little backwards doing the RUclips assuming that others would not have the same problem as myself, but I hope maybe there was one other person would help!
OMG, it worked! Same videos demonstrating the ease of pushing down and turning just weren’t working for me. So glad I stumbled on your video Thank you! Another video said to get the sound then unpop the battery and put it in again 5 times until you get the different sound; that worked too!
@@nancydunn5490 thanks so much for taking the time to make a comment. It also works when you’re having trouble getting a lightbulb out of of a socket and afraid to squeeze it too hard and break the glass!
Great idea using the small suction cup. However, I use the small "KONG" dog chew play tube (tube is made for treats and the dog tries to get them out). You place the large side of the KONG on the chrome side of the tag and press down and turn. It works great.
If you cannot turn battery cover to remove battery, and you do not have correct size suction cup, try this! Attach a command strip with respective hanger. Let it sit for a bit. Use the command strip hanger to leverage a twist left to open battery compartment.
@@ArthurKelley-er5sf that’s a great idea and I really appreciate you sharing it. At least this battery only has to be replaced approximately once a year. What a pain in the neck!
Mine was stuck. I have force to do it but it just wasn’t opening. I tried your suggestion, and when I tried to rotate the plastic I dropped the AirTag and it opened by it hit the floor 😂.
I still think your idea is brilliant but it did not work for me. I could not keep the suction cup from slipping. I finally got it apart with pliers and a vice. It seems like the metal back had stuck itself to the white part. I used WD40 to lubricate the parts and they did go back together and lock but I used my tools again to get sufficient grip to accomplish this. So the problem may not be weak hands--just poor ergonomic design on Apple's part.

What a simple and ingenious solution I had trouble with mine for my one cat (we have it on his collar) but this did the trick, thank you so much.
