- Navi Mumbai International Airport, officially renamed as, DB Patil International Airport, or Dinkar Balu Patil International Airport, and more recently named as Adani | Navi Mumbai International Airport is an international airport being constructed near the city of Navi Mumbai, Maharastra, India. It will serve in parallel with Mumbai's existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), becoming the second airport of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Once completed, both airports will serve as India's first urban multi-airport system.

There should be Metro Connectivity between existing Airport & new Airport. It will make intertransfer easy.
I think its already planned !
It is planned but will take atleast 10 years to complete ( construction hasn’t even started of metro)
It’s in the pipeline till 2032 when Navi Mumbai Airport will be fully operational.
Lazy CIDCO not yet started metro connectivity. Noida is going to get RRTS, AeroCity, Hotels, expressway links. Navi Mumbai still struggling with blasting hills. Kharghar BKC work has still not started. Coastal road from mthl has not yet started. Time to look for land for a third Airport...
First let them connect Mumbai international and domestic terminal by metro which is just 2km apart. Still need to go by road.

This airport is now 20 plus years in the making...mired in fairly nuanced local politics of land rights...will be a great addition to Mumbai's CST airport when finally built up and made operational. Looking forward.

A very good overview. Let's be realistic about the timelines. The civil and structural construction may be done by the end of 2024. It will take another year to complete the plumbing, electrical, interior decor, and other items. We are looking at 2026 at the earliest for the airport to be ready. However, there is hardly any chance for the airport to be opened for commercial operations even in 2026. This is because the connecting infrastructure to move the traffic has to be ready. Otherwise it will be a nightmare.

From Thane & any Eastern Mumbai Suburb (Ghatkopar to Mulund) one can come via Eastern Express Highway on to Eastern Freeway and then on to Trans Harbour link that would be easier and less time consuming then taking the Thane Belapur Road

A direct train or bus should be made available from pune, satara and other major surrounding cities, with very good frequency and affordable pricing.
I think a lot of private bus services will do exactly that.

What all you said about the metro line through the airport or that 12 lane highway is big talk by the government, I don't think it will ever be possible in the next five years atleast.
As for the December 2024, not possible, because come the monsoon season the work will go at a snails pace.

Very interesting to hear about Navi Mumbai Line 4, I always felt Navi Mumbai’s western side should have a North South Line similar to Mumbai’s Line 2A! Could you share more details on the same ?

Navi mumbai Airport is going to be used by South bombay , Navi mumbai, and the entire ratnagiri coastalline of maharastra. Thane people are not going to use the same, neither Western surban.
