    OMGGGG - This is so confusing, and this video is good, perfect duration for a refresher - ok so below is what i took from this - OMG this is so confusing, send help! Below is probably wrong but this is working for me
    Here is my TLDR for anyone who needs it
    3 sugars
    TOP = disach (2 on top) - lactose/sucrose (Lac/Suc)
    Bottom = mono (just one) - glucose (Glu)
    -remember this by heavy thingys diffuse slower through gel and sit on top, small thingies travel faster through gel and get to bottom faster bottom faster
    When sugars are eaten, ACID is made = YELLOW is ACID COLOR (A = Acid)
    When peptone eaten - BASE is made - RED is BASE COLOR = RED = (K = al"K"aline)
    pH indicator
    Abundance of BASE it turns cherry red - K!!!
    Majority acid products - it turns yellow - A!!! (ex: lactose = so much lactose = so much acid = YELOOOOOOOW = A/A)
    TOP = Lac/Suc - when fermented A top
    BOTTOM = Glu - when fermented A bottom
    Top = Lac/Suc - disacharides
    Bottom = Glu - mono saccharides
    Peptone is in the entire thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Results (slant/butt) Symbol Interpretation
    Y = Yellow = Acid (A aka K) (YAK!) - just remember one, the other is not this one
    R = Red = Basic = B/alKaline (Red Burger Kangaroo (RBK)....)
    so
    There are only 4 possible combos, for colors,
    air is extra modifier = floater
    sulfur eater/maker = black
    Top/bottom
    RR = KK = peptone eat only, Lac/Suc no eat or Glu no eat - these are non-fermentors
    RY = KA = peptone eat, Glu eat (Glucose fermentors)
    YY = AA = Lac/Suc eat, Glu eat (Ferment everything)
    YR = AK - Lac/Suc eat, Glu noeat
    This helps below:

    Ok for those wondering the first letter states the PH of the slant and the second states the PH of the butt, where A means acidic and K means Alkaline. Usually your given a table that will show you the positive and negatives for the bacterium your testing.

    what is the function of sucrose in this experiment? what is the significantce of H2S producing bacteria so we have to test them?

    Thank you so much, your videos are very helpful. What is the role of sucrose?

      Exactly, I didn't hear any mention of the third sugar sucrose anywhere in the video.

    Thank you for the video. I like it and I found it helpful. I want to mention that the formula of ferrous sulfate is not written correctly. Did you mean to write ferrous ammonium sulfate (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2 or the ferrous sulfate FeSO4?
    It's really bothering my chemical mind. Please clarify. Thanks again!
