How small/big should they be when you start pinching? How many leafpairs? 😊

Hello, great video short and concise. I love Coleus potted plants and I quit buying the plants from the Home Centers...too expensive. I bought a pack of seeds and started with
seeding and germination...etc. They came out beautiful. This is the first time growing them and am curious about something. The seedlings grew into small plants with large leaves which were too heavy and began to droop. I pinched them off and I have noticed that the leaves that are growing are smaller than the original leaves. Can you share your thoughts on why
this is happening. I do not keep them outdoors because the green looper worm love to chomp on these. These are kept indoors with natural light or grow lights or take out doors weather permitting for a few hours.
    Thank you

I am not sure why, but I find the same thing with mine also! Another plus to pinching them back! I just finished planting this year's batch...mainly in the ground, but a number of pots, too! I feel proud of all that I saved when I see how expensive they are to purchase in the nurseries!

Thanks for this video. How often should you pinch them?

I pinch of any flowers that start. I probably pinch about 3-4 times a season in addition to that to get more branching. Hope that helps!

Question: Is there a difference between pinching or using small sharp pruning shears?
Is one better than the other? If so why?

No difference except you get a sharper cut with the scissors. I find pinching them more convenient.
